Eddie Howe On Newcastle’s Ambitions For This Season

Newcastle’s head coach Eddie Howe has given his press conference for tomorrow’s early KO game at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Newcastle are currently in 9th place with 33 points from 23 games.

We have to start winning games, like the one tomorrow, if we are to finish in the top six this season, which is possible.

We are currently 5 points behind 6th placed Manchester United, who have 38 points.

We need a win tomorrow but it’s not going to be easy.

Here is what Eddie Howe said about what’s needed for the rest of the season:

“We are absolutely committed to getting our Premier League form back to a consistent vein of form. We are still very committed to finishing as high as we can in the league.”

“We are desperate to do well, I see that in the players every day.”

“The FA Cup is still a realistic target for us, we have a difficult game next, but I still believe we can do really well in that competition. Still plenty to be positive about.”

Close to 80% of our readers think we can win this game, so if we don’t win it will be a huge disappointment for our fans, much like last week’s 4-4 draw against Luton Town was.

Let’s hope the lads can pull it off tomorrow.

Another very interesting presser from Eddie, when he was quizzed about the midfield his answer was Sean, Lewis and Bruno are individually having a good season, a very intelligent choice of words, and needless to say Eddie would never in any circumstances throw any players under the bus, which i greatly admire!! But in his private thoughts i wonder does Eddie really think our present midfield collectively function as a unit, i doubt it very much, but Eddie really has no alternative at the moment due to the intense injury crisis unfortunately.

Hang on Blue Cards, is that not sexist?
Why not pink cards? Oh wait, that`s sexist too.
How about rainbow coloured cards, yep that might keep the majority happy.

It’s great that there is so much riding on every match for positive reasons. Until the takeover I would look through the fixtures trying to see where the points to keep us up were coming from. If you are moaning at our current position and calling for the managers head right now then a bit of perspective is required. Remember how many of our squad were playing with us in the Championship! We are fighting against the slimy 6, the eminently punchable Richard Masters and the self interest of the Premier League.
