Nottingham Forest 2 Newcastle United 3 – NBC Sports Video Highlights

Here are the highlights of our great 3-2 win at the City Ground this afternoon when two goals from the brilliant Bruno Guimaraes were enough to give Newcastle a narrow 3-2 victory.

It was a decent enough performance from Newcastle but once again our defense looked a little shaky.

6 goals conceded in the last two games.

For some reason BBC1 is on the blink tonight so MOTD will have to wait until tomorrow.
    What the feck!
Man City are a great team but most of their matches have no jeopardy, so their fans just sit waiting for the win.
I’m not sure I ever want that.

I think 1 or 2 of his teammates were holding/pulling back Bruno to make sure he didn’t jump in with the fans. 🙂

That’s amazing if we are only 5 points behind last seasons total after the horrendous injury list we’ve had

That Spurs last goal was slick. We won’t catch them this season imo but next season….

Ffs Joel is such a loss.

Just as well, amazingly, Bruno has stayed fit.

I thought that about city today. The crowd was very quiet. I usually like to watch city play but I actually found that quite boring today.

I wondered why Murph wasn’t brought on for AG. Apparently he had a tight calf in the warm up.

    Serial rebels? 😀

“Mail Sport can reveal that seven of the clubs who refused the back the Premier League’s introduction of new associated party transaction rules [APT] this week were among the eight who voted down proposals to ban loan transfers last November, leading to concerns amongst the executive over the emergence of a group of serial rebels.

Manchester City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Everton, Nottingham Forest and Sheffield United are understood to have voted against the Premier League at a tense shareholders’ meeting on Friday, with Crystal Palace and Burnley believed to have abstained. “

Coming home after 24 games last season we had 44 points with a gos3l difference of +24.

This season after 24 games we have 36 points with a goal difference of 12.

It really isnt as tiny as Jesus our lord and saviour is making out. 8 points and that kinda goal difference could be the difference between finishing 3-4th or 7-8th. It aint nothing and to just wash over it like people are doing is not reality, it isnt living in the real world. Its ok to be critical, its ok to say we are nowhere near the level of last year.

Jesus just wants to talk nonsense and appeal to the masses for hearts its all he lives for, eventhough he will swear blind he couldn’t care, but i promise you he gets harder the more hearts he gets.

Im not in the habit bending reality and im not happy where we are and its completely normal to not be happy about it and want my team to be doing better.

Losing big Joel and little Joe has been a massive loss in midfield. I feel that has put excess pressure on the defence which has given EH a huge problem.
Personally I think Burn should have a central defensive role rather than being full back as his pace is lacking in his current position. Plus move scharr into midfield that would strengthen the spine of the team.

Seemingly we played at times with essentially a back three, with Tripps and Miley acting as two central midfield pivots, and Sean and Bruno ahead of them, in a sort of 3241. Bloody hell, that actually is quite radical. I think finally having no midweek commitments has allowed us to at least attempt to work on different systems to lessen the impact of the fatigue that had clearly diminished. We usually play a 433 without a holding mid, and for it to work, we have to fly into the opposition for 90 plus minutes, which of course you can’t do if you’re tired and have depth on the bench. Anyway, Trippier and Miley two holding mids, in a 3241, who the hell saw that coming, and to a degree it actually worked. Ha! Fascinating.

……diminished “us”, and “no” depth on the bench, I of course meant, in that feeble first attempt.

The number of matches lost by the top seven teams in the Prem with us on 10

    2 3 4 5 5 9 10

You can see how that’s hurt our European ambitions and could impact on Bruno’s decisions as to who he plays for.

Haven’t read back yet so sure there will have been comments on Murphy pulling up but something’s amiss with our fitness regimes or the type of grass we train on more likely the type of boots our players use. Does this change when we get Adidas ?

Newcastle United have been dealt yet another injury blow after Jacob Murphy suffered a calf injury in the warm-up ahead of the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest.

Head coach Eddie Howe volunteered the setback in his post-game Press conference and admitted that despite internal efforts to get to the bottom of the club’s injury crisis, the bad luck keeps on coming. Howe had admitted that Newcastle made “mistakes” this season with their preparation for games which has resulted in their worst injury crisis in the Premier League era.

Compared to last (astoundingly successful) season, Irish Rob has called it and there’s no point in trying to argue. Lochinvar has also pointed out the massive 10 defeats we’ve already suffered (compared with an astonishing 5 in the whole of last season).
I use a different system, instead of comparing our first 24 matches in both seasons, I compare our results in the same fixtures (substituting promoted for relegated, in same order). This puts us 7 points worse than the same, or equivalent, fixtures last season.
I also very much like looking at goal differences, and these show there are 6 clubs way ahead of the rest, we are one of those 6.
I think our worst problems for the rest of this season is losing Joelinton, an incredible warrior, then Gordon’s impending 2 match ban and Bruno’s impending 2 match ban.
I also must add that continuing to have to pick a 17-y-o is a massive weakness and I dread to think what our midfield will look like when Bruno joins Tonali and Joelinton for 2 matches. Please don’t get me wrong, I believe in Miley, i think he’s rolls royce, but he just isn’t up to the pace and physicality of EPL football and, at his age, nobody should expect him to be.
I’ll also pee off any remaining posters whom I haven’t offended, by pointing out how fantastic BDB is .
    There, I’ve said it.
Oh, and all you Eddie doubters, words fail me!

We had 41 after 24 games, your maths is out…again! Not that it matters, nor does the table now. It matters at the end of the season and the end only.

Well done to the lads and Bruno was the standout player. A lot being made of his #8 role but I am sure he was doing the same last week. They just about managed to control the match this time, although the same weaknesses were evident. Hopefully momentum is building and we can compete in both the league and cup.
