Injury Updates On Callum Wilson And Jacob Murphy

We came out of the 3-2 win at Nottingham Forest yesterday with two injury concerns, although hopefully, the injuries are only slight.

The injuries were to Jacob Murphy and Callum Wilson, and Eddie Howe has said that Jacob Murphy could not be used at all yesterday because he had a tightness in his calf.

This is what Howe said about Murphy’s injury after the game:

“Jacob Murphy was unusable for us today.”“He didn’t feel great in the warm-up.”

“He had a tight calf.”

“So we are still getting challenges left, right and center, but we are, at this moment in time…managing to come through those.”

Hopefully, the medics will work on Murphy this week so he will be fully fit for our next game – a home fixture against Eddie Howe’s former club Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

But right at the end of the game, the returning Callum Wilson looked to be in some distress with his arm and 3 Newcastle assistants tended to him at the final whistle.

This is what Howe said about Wilson, who has only just returned from a previous injury:

“I don’t think it (Wilson) is his shoulder, his shoulder is fine, which is great news.”

“I think it is potentially a problem with one of his muscles in his arm, so we will wait and see.”

We have had far too many injuries this season and we have called for an investigation into the Newcastle processes with injuries to see what has gone wrong.

I’m sure those requests have also come from our owners since at one time we had about 15 first-team players not available.

Those injuries have helped to wreck our season, but we are still in the Premier League and just one win from being in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

A very good FA Cup run and qualifying for Europe next season would be a very decent season for us in the circumstances and think we will have Nick Pope, Joelinton, and Sandro Tonali available for next season – like 3 new signings.

Eddie Howe has admitted there have been mistakes made, so hopefully our processes to prevent and then recover from injuries have been (greatly) enhanced.

We also cannot have players being injured because they can’t play two games a week.

That’s because we  are going to be playing two games a week in most weeks as the norm, and Newcastle will be in European competition every season.

Hopefully, that’s one of the learning experiences from this first season back in European competition.

What do you think?

So Ed gives an unfortunate health update, yet there seems to be more personal insults, bickering and pathetic arguing than there’s been for ages.

Hang your heads, you should feel ashamed.

To coin phrase from Monty Python. It feels like a game of “Word Association Football” 🙂

Having mentioned the phrase “Monty Python”, now worried that I’ve come for the 10 minute argument rather than the 5 minute one 🙂

…showing my age. Hope you have a good day Wor B ! 🙂

Afternoon all, did we win yesterday by any chance, you wouldn`t of thought it reading the bile on here .
Looks like the entertainers are back for good and bad reasons , but we are winning at least.
You could be a Spam fan getting trounced 4-0 at half time and already heading home by the look of the stadium haha, pathetic.

Was hoping to get a look at the lasses against burnley but it`s not getting shown by the looks of it.
If the lasses win today then i think they are clear favourites to win the lge,

If we continue to pick up points at the same ratio then by the end of the season we’ll have 57 points. Where does that leave us?

An excellent analysis regarding our top 5 chances, (ie champions league) here:

    https://www.themag.co.uk/2024/02/newcastle-united-and-the-race-for-premier-league-top-five/

Just heard the Man u coach say their target is still CL football. And they have the same points as us, I think.

    So, you never know.

    Btw, west ham being thrashed.

Arsenal only need to go through the motions 2nd half they are so dominant.
    Probably end up 6-1

Does anyone believe Forest should have had a penalty yesterday?
No way was it a pen. The Forest striker did not have control of the ball at any point and the contact with Dubravka was a coming together which neither player could avoid.
