Our Man Of The Match At Nottingham Forest Wins By A Massive Majority

It’s no secret that Brazilian International Bruno Guimaraes had an excellent game for us on Saturday and his brace helped us to get a hard-fought 3-2 victory at the City Ground Against Nottingham Forest.

We very rarely has anyone been at the 90% level to win our Man of the Match award and that’s the percentage he got for the Man of the Match at Forest.

It was a little bit of a surprise that Dan Burn came in second at 4% – but maybe there were some sympathy votes in there – given the criticism he has received over the last few games.

Who Was Newcastle's Man Of The Match Against Nottingham Forest?

I’d take Kelly all day long. Eddie doesn’t seem to play a 6 and likes a tall LB to tuck in. We got very little out of Kelly last time we played. Very decent pace on him and quicker on the turn than Botman. Incomparable pace to Burn. On a free, to allow us to get more expensive players elsewhere? Yes please.

    @Munster

It’s a deal I can see happening also means when Tino takes over Trippier eventually we would have serious recovery pace either side for our high line

Add in a wee Tomori from Milan and we would have the fastest back line in the league 🙂

    chronicle saying
Anderson is fit and good to go,

    – I must admit, I’ve paid scant attention to Kelly. If we move for him I hope we really have done our homework. Other wise it is potentially another Jeff Hendrick situation, and we can probably not afford to make too many mistakes due to FFP restrictions

Good shout. This was going to be Anderson’s big breakthrough season, especially given his pre season form. Let’s hope his injury hasn’t caused too much of a setback.

he certainly does mate, he’s done a great job for us over the last few weeks but i think a bit of time on the bench would do him good,

Guess it must be possible that we won’t but a right winger if we go with minteh miggy Gordon on right.

Although I think k Gordon is better on left, noticeably

Now I have to watch the game again.
Because in the one I watched at the weekend, Bruno scored 2 goals but lost the ball needlessly a dozen times and went to ground in desperation 7.
He got one foul, and shrugged 9 times.
Oh , and judging by his reaction when he was down, he also broke his leg 4 times.

You say Gordon is noticably better on the left, but he’s only played on the right twice this season so we can’t really judge until he’s played a decent number of times there. He’s played twice and has 1 assist playing on the right.

In his career he’s played 86 times on the left with 23 goal contributions. On the right he’s played 45 times with 10 goal contributions.

    Left wing 26% goal contributions
    Right wing 22% goal contributions

Not much in it. So may find he’s just as effective on the right if he’s given a run of games there.

So over his career, his managers have preferred him twice as much on left. That’s where I see him Adam.

Aye, it probably is his strongest position. It’s just when you said ‘noticeably’, but we haven’t really seen him play on the right to be able to notice any difference. He’d have to have a run of games there for us to be able to see and judge fairly.

Great news if Anderson is back at the weekend. He’ll probably come in and have a storming run in to the end and clinch the blog POTS to the delight of anybody who might have picked him on Martoon’s predictions 🙂

    @Munster Adam

For me our first choice front 3 Gordon Isak and Barnes all of them are capable of interchanging positions quite fluidly so could be a case where he starts wide right but then drifts inside

Gordon’s movement is amazing I think he would play anywhere and make it work even as a no 10 (which Ancellotti mentioned he could be one long term)

Gordon and Barnes also aren’t scared to use their weak foot which will be a massive upgrade on what we currently have on the right

Anderson really seemed to be getting to grips with that inside left role before he got injured as he can drift into a no 10 quite easily

Also quicker than Longstaff and Miley so should help with stopping counter attacks you would think

Davas! I can’t remember what my predictions were, it’s an age thing.
Jail, I certainly wouldn’t want Hayden back, he had one good spell with Longstaff under Rafa. Other than that he always looked lethargic, nice lad and probably found his level.

I’d be happy with both the Bournemouth lads .
We need squad players, and that’s what Billing would be imo.
We are in for a big rebuild this summer and both them lads would be ideal.

The “Summer Rebuild” is probably going to be based, mostly, on the “incoming” sponsorship deals and their effect on the FFP situation.

I’m fairly confident, and would almost certainly support, the current decision makers at NUFC; whatever they decide is best for our Club.

They have access to “all” the necessary information and haven’t made many mistakes so far!

I can see this summer being one of the busiest we have had in years, there are so many issues to sort out, especially out goings, the deadwood.
The deadwood will be replaced with new improved signings plus new much needed positions getting covered is a must really.
Whoever we bring in i hope they are brought in as early as possible so they are up and running and settled before the season starts.
It`s a bit premature talking about the summer now but Kelly and Billing getting mentioned prompted me to mention the next window, and i think it will be a damn good one.

WL Toon, busier the better mate, busier the better

Id have those two , especially Kelly, and Billing always seems to play well against us, and wasnt intimidated by Joel at all. Big unit, pure Eddie

Hopefully not expensive and we can get one or two foreign stars.

    Eddie Howe on Joe Willock:

“Joe hasn’t trained with the group yet but is working really hard with the sports science team. It’s an Achilles tendon injury. His initial injury was a hamstring, and he recovered from that fine. Then he picked up the Achilles injury.

Anyone who has had those injuries knows how difficult they can be to manage. The medical team have been building him up gradually. It’s a slow process to build him up to the point where the Achilles tendon can withstand the rigours of Premier League football.

There is no certainty until he’s back that he will be back. So fingers crossed he will. He’s in the last stages of his rehab and he’s working hard and doing well. Will he play in February? I hope so, yes!”

There’d be loads of players at bottom half clubs that would be decent additions for us. You just have to see how well players like Longstaff, Joelinton, Schar, Wilson, Almiron, Willock and Murphy have done with better players around them to see that. Against that though, we need players that will improve us. We need that bit better depth, balance and quality each window, so maybe Kelly, and maybe even Billings, but we also need a couple of star turns too, which they probably arent. But who knows? It’s unpredictable. Take Joelinton. Zero to genuine hero, who could probably get into any side now.
