Eddie Howe has given his press conference for the rather daunting game at Manchester City tomorrow night in the FA Cup.
He has talked about both Gordon’s injury and his selection in the England squad for the two friendlies against Brazil and Belgium at home.
Eddie Howe on Anthony Gordon’s injury:
“Initially when you see a player come off like that you fear it’s a serious injury but he partly trained yesterday and he seemed OK.”
“We train again today so we will do a full session and we’ll make a judgement (on whether he plays tomorrow at Man City) after that.”
And here is Eddie Howe talking about the great news yesterday for Anthony Gordon and for Newcastle, that he has finally been called up to the full England squad by manager Gareth Southgate:
“I’m delighted for him. I know it’s been a big ambition of his since he was a little boy and he fully deserves it.”
“He’s been outstanding this year and is continuing to grow week on week.”
“I’m delighted that’s been recognized.”
“He’s worked so hard.”
Gordon will miss out on the trip to Dubai but he will not worry too much about that and he is hoping to make his debut at Wembley against Brazil (and Bruno Guimaraes).
What a game to make your England debut in!
🙂

The odds against are probably off the chart but wouldn’t it just be glorious.
Do you ever get to go and see Javea CD play? I used to know one of the players when we had a place on Montgo. I know Elche have got a team doing quite well but I think Javea were like in the 4th division or equivalent.
From Javea you could go and see Valencia, Levante and Villareal games.

Comment #7Very interesting champions league draw.
Semi final 1 – Atletico Madrid or Borussia Dortmund v Paris St-Germain or Barcelona.
That’s opened up a good pathway for one of those sides to reach the final.

It could / should have been us. They should check that ref’s Swiss bank account from the match we played in Paris. Seemed to be a seminal point in our season.
