Fenham’s not a joke, he’s an attention seeker who dislikes anyone whose opinions differ from his! Yes, he makes things personal and you’ll see he has a small group of equally narrow-minded chums by his side so be prepared for assaults from them – your card’s marked but you’re not alone

One point a game is often regarded as relegation form.
If you end the season on 38 points in a typical year you might stay up you might go down.
Teams have gone down on 40 points.
This year three really poor teams at the bottom averaging way less than a point a game. Next 2 up not much better.
Things might have changed a bit now with the top half being so much better than the bottom half.

Absolutely, there are far too many variables. Form, injuries, how the transfer window goes, cup draws, opposition and where played for those first 10 games, which other manager is available, etc.

I’m just going round in circles so will make this my last on the topic but as I say, as long as there are positive signs, I’d hope results aren’t the main driver of the decision in a short spell. If the team is playing well but just not quite getting over the line, I’d like him to have the season. I’d only replace if we were shipping goals, losing week in week out and just looking like players have given up for him.

    Saratoga,
I’m not suggesting it’s out of loyalty at all, it’s because he’s tte right man for the job. However, if results don’t improve them of course they’ll replace him. You’re saying you don’t want him sacked while saying we should sack him in May. Are you on the wind up here?

    Saratoga,

If you read my post #512 correcly you’d see that I was referring to the blog fisherman Munster who quotes Casey on here (not you)…

When you say “you’re a joke mate” (a) I’m not your mate as I don’t know you (b) my post at #512 is just a bit of banter, however you do strike me as in the “Eddie Howe Out” group, why else would you say “ You make your decision on Howe some time between 20th and 30th May.” that’s sounds like someone saying Eddie doesn’t deserve to get all his walking wounded back, players like Longstaff and Botman not crocked, Tonali back and firing in all cylinders. Then 4-5 top players brought in to give us depth. Imagine what Eddie can produce with that??? Of course Eddie deserves a good crack at next season. The owners are fully behind him also as they get it.

If you look at where we sit relative to others after over 130 years of football, we are definitely top 10, most likely 8th. But that’s after broadly 60 years of mismanagement and missed opportunities. Our unique 1 club city status, location and fan base though gives us the potential to be better than 8th. If city’s owners had bought us we would be where they are but with a much better support. With all the financial constraints in place now it’s much harder for any ambitious club to break into the cartel, but we proved it can be done. But sustaining it is a different matter as you need a much deeper squad to cope with CL games.
Next season will be even harder now that none of the cartel are in crisis. Chelsea will be more consistent, Manu will start making better decisions, Spurs have good momentum. Getting top 6 would be an excellent achievement next season.
So all we want to see is us compete at the top end and have cup runs, with perhaps a cup win. And to do that every season.

    Yes I know that mate.
I’ve read this blog a lot of years and seen it pan out.
They twitter to each other or whatever behind the scenes.
Hey have you seen what he has said. Hey everyone lets pile in and give him stick. Drove a lot of posters away from this blog at times.
I know this lot believe me.
It’s the same folk. Would have no critical comments about Rafa. Had a go at match going supporters after Rafa went even though we still had over 40K still at games. Now don’t dare say anything critical of PIF, Amanda or Eddie Howe.
Binary I think is the word that sums up their thinking.

    Wind up – no.
I have not at any time said sack him in May.
I’m saying make your mind up in late May one way or the other.
Started by saying no need to decide now.
Ten games to go which might help with that decision.

    Saratoga,

You need to get your facts straight or checked that we have people “who twitter to each other behind the scenes “. You’re well off the mark and engaging with lesh the pest will do you absolutely no favours on here.

People are entitled to call you out as we see it, you’re also as it’s what this blog is for to debate. Don’t be a snowflake. Man up 😉

    On Howe…

How many Man U fans wanted Ferguson sacked half way through his second season?

    Plenty.

    The rest is history.

What is beyond doubt is that Howe and his coaching team did a fantastic job saving us from relegation at a canter in his first season and getting us CL last season.

How many other other managers other than the likes of Pep and Klopp could have done that?

This nonsense of “you can’t use injuries as an excuse” for this season is just that; nonsense.

How many do you have to have before you CAN use it an excuse?? We’ve had up to 11 first team squad players out and probably an average of 6/7 practically all season including two – Barnes and Tonali – who were signed to improved the first 11.

Talk of sacking Howe now is just plain daft – we could be getting rid of a guy who could become one of the best, if not the best, managers in our history.

Unless we sign a two or three players in the summer who turn out to be world beaters, the best we can realistically hope for with a normal level of injuries next season is 4th-6th and hopefully a cup win.

Ask Arsenal if listening to the fans who wanted Arteta sacked after a season and a half would have been wise…

    Lesh,

Let’s get one things straight here…You went absent from here for a short period and I can tell you now that you weren’t a miss as you really don’t bring anything of worth or substance to this blog re NUFC or general football chat, as it’s clear that your knowledge is very, very limited and therefore I appreciate that you are not in a position to bring anything worthwhile to the table, however, even if you try at least it’s a start.

What is abundantly clear is that you unfortunately use this platform to goad either me, Tuffers or Mund, why do you choose to do that? Mund is an interesting one as he totally ignores you and pays you absolutely no attention whatsoever, however, you still bait him at times? Again, why? I’ve stated this so many times on here now but you must stop using this platform to promote your hatred, it needs to stop and if that means you disappear again then great disappear. But if you want to post about football then great get it done but it’s sad to say you sit on here day and night waiting to pounce on certain posters without adding anything of interest, you just add to the toxicity as you absolutely thrive in it as the hatred you have consumes you. You’re not a well man that’s obvious, but don’t take it out on certain individuals from the blog. It’s not healthy for you.
