Eddie Howe Speaks Out On The Australia Trip

Eddie Howe seems to be all for the  two-game tour of Australia at the end of the season, when the lads will fly to Australia after the final league game this season on May 19th at Brentford.

This is what Eddie Howe has said about the two-game visit:

“This is a great opportunity to showcase Newcastle United at two iconic venues in an iconic city as the club continues to grow globally.”

“We are privileged to have so many incredible supporters around the world, and it’s a chance to be able to play in front of many in Australia who wouldn’t ordinarily get the chance to see the team.”

“We look forward to engaging with our supporters in Melbourne and giving them the opportunity to feel closer to the club.”

This is the Newcastle statement put out yesterday which shocked our supporters:

“United will travel to Australia following the conclusion of the Premier League season in May to take on Tottenham Hotspur and the A-League All Stars in Melbourne.”

“The Magpies will kick off the city’s Global Football Week event at the world-famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Wednesday, 22nd May, taking on a Spurs side managed by one of the city’s favorited sons, Ange Postecoglou.

This will be really hard on some of our players, but on the other hand, it will be over by May 25th once the squad has made their 22-hour and 21,000-mile trip back to England.

What do you think?

Apologies for the late reply as i was out and about mate. And yes the ballot is definitely problematic for all fans with membership, as demand greatly outweighs supply, such is the passion and loyalty of the fanbase i don`t even think form or league position would make the problem of obtaining tickets any easier mate.

Dummett & Karius haven’t been offered new contracts ,

Pauls not expecting a contract extension, he’s had offers from a couple of championship clubs, but that’s it ,
source, a Dummett family member who sits near me in St James.

Doubt very much that Dummett is going to get many opportunities for 1st team football in the near future. So unless he has plans to become a member of the training team at the club then he should be seriously considering any championship offers. Could probably extend his playing career for a few more seasons.

Karius is still a good 2nd or 3rd choice GK.

Squid Game, love this. On YouTube.

It’s a good watch, going through the squad for next season, who to keep, who to let go and who goes on loan. Very interesting view from supporters of the club.

Football Governance Bill at last introduced by the Government – with an impartial/independant regulator (yeah right).

Interesting to see how this develops – hopefully for the benefit of fans and not the money men/slimy six.

Forgive me but whllst I am aware Fenham had form when i used to come on , it wasn’t to my knowledge on the scale of which you’ve been accused of but if he posted as you claim then i would condemn that as well and i can see how it would be seen as offensive

Look I am not the moderator of Blog and have been dragged into this but all I ask for is civillity on all sides – do i have to keep score on who I can chat with?

The only thing that brings us together is a shared love for NUFC not our politics which Ed has always asked be kept off Blog but not all do

As he can’t begin to monitor posts these days surely it’s time for all reasonable posters to try to get along better

This should be a place he can still be so proud of but since my return Ifor a few days I feel it has deteroriated ( was always feisty) and all posters should maybe consider whether their contributions meet that test for Ed’s pride in his baby

Posters all congratulate ED for this gift to us but not all translate that into respect for his Blog as the “he started it” get out clause gets wheeled out too regular, then rinse and repeat

Some I believe must actually prefer the “toing and froing” rather than football banter ( shakes head emoji)

Anyway I am a drifter not a regular so if you will all leave me out of it I’ll happily not stick my nose in further – deal? 🙂

As to future of PSR(FFP) there is talk linking spending on wages to Turnover rather than look at losses over years ( European style rules?)

Whilst we can gradually increase ours as Revenues grow next season this would still give the big 6 cartel the advantage they are desperate to maintain

Sustainability Eh? whose are we talking about? Not the other clubs with good owners who have genuine and financially backed aspirations

The other talking point is the losses figure which was arbitrarily set in 2013 at £105M over 3 running seasons

Apparently taking that amount and considering inflation( not cost of living but football wise in terms of transfer fees and wages) that figure wouuld be around £210M ( double at least) by now

That would certainly give us a boost ( so probably won’t happen) and to others that have funds

Football does need Regulations and we await the Independant Body’s views I suppose although I think they are looking more at fan involvement and suitabilty of owners side of things

One thing is for sure as they stand they are not fit for purpose but clubs will inevitably have their own interests before the PL so I’m not sure how it will work out

A thought on why clubs outside top 6 vote agains us ?- they have lost a perennial relegation contender and those jocking for Conference have another challenge just about covers all 20 clubs interests competing with our rise

I think th Oz trip isn’t just about money on the day so to speak it’s also about exposure and raising our profile in Antipodes to try and get shirt sales from more than expats

Adidas unlike Castore have outlets worldwide and we want our merchandise in stores there and in Middle and Far East even China

We will get a cut of course

Very heartfelt and heartwarming of you to reach out to JohnJ with a sort of apology or an explanation for using him as part of your “banter” because it wouldn’t work with a troublemaker that really is good of you and well done for explaining that and expressing your feelings…

However, something springs out that doesn’t sit well with me, let me explain, approx. 2 weeks ago, you seemed to have a pop at JohnJ which was out the blue and was in clear support of our sick resident troll which was for JohnJ having the audacity for referencing the sick TROLL in a post for no reason as he hadn’t been targeted that particular day (your words) and seemed to highlight the fact that he was the agitator? That really struck a chord with me and highlighted the fact you had an issue with JohnJ bringing up the TROLL and called him out for it. All I can say on that note is…Good for JohnJ to give it back to the sick fiend and I ask the question why would you even be bothered about it, why would you need to highlight it?

Now I will call you right out for your clear as day hypocrisy after reading your knee jerk reactions with your above posts or shall I say statement(s) @ 21 / 22. Aye something simply doesn’t add up with you or that stinking filthy R.A.T troll.

Let’s hope that the new revenues and sponsorships allow us to bring in a few new faces to reassure the likes of Bruno and Isak that they are the cornerstones for our success next season.

Maybe it’s Tripps or Miggy that get sold to Saudi Arabia for top dollar. Gives them a good pension and the club financial scope to buy some class players and not compromise FGP. Might be that we get Paqueta in from West Ham to buddy up with Bruno. Longstaff then drops down the pecking order.

I drifted away 2 years ago ( nowt to say mainly) then became a widower suddenly, briefly felt energised to return a year ago but it tailed of after week or so despite a welcome from most

Usual story – difficult to enage with some folk arguing and having run out of something useful to say when it almost seems like you have to be controversial to get attention

Drifted back as post came up on Newsnow and I thought I’d drop in for old times sake and check it out

Mostly same folk ( same rows) but a good few missing and felt home but I’m too old for the X (formerly Twitter) type aggravation and more for a say Whats App sports group sort of thing 🙂

Each to their own of course and posters make the Blog

I am pleased but amazed blog is still here and my amazement at Ed’s tenacity and determination has grown even further

I’m proud to have been on Blog over the years even if periodic at times

Depends how much he will take.
A years wage would be a good deal.
He then accepts an offer from another club and gets 2 years wages from them at whatever they will offer.

You’re probably thinking, Not another Bard rhyme
And no, my friends, it’s not this time
I’ve only returned to have my say
And clear my name with yer man , John J

    John,

“You may well have seen that last night I included a quip in a post which referred to you….”

    Nope I never saw that…

“Hope this clears up any possible misunderstanding, although I’d be surprised if it even bothered you in the slightest.”

    Dear Bard,

I don’t have issues with yourself or in the main 99.5% of the posters on Dr Ed’s Blog. Everyone is entitled to their views – sometimes I agree & sometimes I don’t but I respect the fact that we all have our own opinions and I usually accept that. The only poster that I feel immense distaste for is that thing that posts the most vile and offensive stuff on “Our Blog”. Carltoon referred to this a few days ago and I copied and posted my support of her issues.

I served my time as an Apprentice Motor Mechanic and I heard it all then. But…. If there was a lady around when you hit your thumb instead of the seized bolt head you jumped up and down with the pain but kept your lips sealed rather than cause offence! Things have changed these days but personally I still refrain from using distasteful words in public!

I do my best to show respect to the folk around me as I have always done on this blog!

Sadly I’ve become disillusioned with the blog of recent times and I don’t particularly wish to see the stuff him/her/it posts on here – that person has no respect for Dr Ed after all he and his family have done for the benefit of Newcastle United fans all over this planet of ours!

So in the mean time I’ll be a Lurker and pop in as and when!

I do hope to meet up with some of my friends from “The Blog” in the not too distant future. Gan canny buddy.

I’m not against selling Isak and Bruno for big profits and ploughing it back in to strengthen overall. In theory it works well, ie Porto etc. in practice though, it does require a lot of expertise. They are very fine players, and so not easy to replace. But if it’s money in and money out, and exploring every avenue to strengthen on the pitch, then okay. We are after silverware, and the competition is of course fierce.
