Our Best Player At Manchester City May Not Be With Us Next Season

In our poll for the quarter-final tie at Manchester City over the weekend, which we lost 2-0,  Bruno Guimaraes yop the poll as our best player with over 30% of the vote.

Rumors are brewing that the top executives at Newcastle think we need to sell one or more players this summer to be able to spend money to strengthen other positions in the side.

And we know Bruno has a release clause in his contract for £100M, so we could sell him to a top club and have that £100M (and more depending on PSR) to spend on new players this summer.

We really hope we are not still in the business of selling our best players, and we would prefer to keep Bruno and sell some other players – maybe like Sean Longstaff and others – but not the current star of our side – that seems a little daft to us.

What do you think?

Who Was Newcastle's best player At Manchester City?

In the striker dept this Minuz at Fulham is the perfect blueprint of the type of young skilful striker with pace and power who is finding the net regularly that we should be targeting. Ironically Muniz has the same physical profile as big Joe but definitely is a striker.

Keeping it Brazilian I’m very happy to see us linked with Murillo. Again right age, speed, power and surging runs out of defence. Top that off with a 3rd Brazilian in Ederson and I’d be delirious.

    If we can also lose:-

    Miggy 15-20M
    Longstaff 15 – 20M
    Wilson 15 – 20M

and recall Minteh potentially for the Right side of the front 3, we may be able to hold on to Isak and Bruno. Wouldn’t be quite so awful if Bruno and Isak went abroad but the thought of them playing for other PL sides would be very hard to take.

See that the hacks reckon Isak is going to Arsenal.

To play alongside Saka and Toney no doubt.

    magscar,
Both Etikite and Pedro play off the left, I think it was a case of Etikite first because Isak was out of reach, then Watford shifted goal posts and Isak was suddenly available, I’m not sure how we could have got both.

How many players do we have at the club that are very saleable assets.
As in we would make a canny profit.
As in other clubs are Q ing up and waving their cheque books.

    Isak and Bruno ?

I know a lot of Brighton fans and Pedro hasn’t been pulling up any trees , tries to do too much and ends up doing nothing is a quote often heard .. that Ferguson kid also seems to have gone off the boil – could be a case of believing his own hype or just a case of teams have worked him out

U say Pedro hasn’t been pulling up any trees.19 goals and 2 assists in his first season at a new club that’s more than pulling up trees I’m sorry to say.whats miggy scored this year are Murphy and longstaff bet if u add up all there goals together so far this season you’ll b lucky to hit double figures.pedros pulling up trees while our boys can barely pull the turf up lol.gordon isak Pedro would b a dangerous front 3 very dangerous.shame we missed out on Pedro he’s definitely an upgrade on miggy.

    Yes Ekitike wrote himself off

Wasn’t sure that Pedro played off left? thought I’d seen him on right?

The price at time for both I was thinking would be a good marker interms of back up striker

Toney ( unless we could get cheaer because of our cut) and Solanke are maybe not within our price structure – maybe a swap deal including Wilson?

Suspect he would have his own ideas where he wants to go as its is last big move

I’m not certain having said that, that our budget strategy has say a fixed amount for each type of player as previous windows seem to have been driven by which of the top priority players on our list we can get and fit others around to match overall budget amount ?

So if we can get an expensive srtiker say, we drop down our budget for a DM or vice versa and so on- basically it’s more fluid

From what I’ve been reading Ashworth (the Hub) has set up “spokes” and rejuvenated our whole backrrom set up during his couple of years with us

It’s they who will be managing the window and targets have already been set so his absence won’t necessarily have any impact this window

There will still be at least a 2 tier list depending on whether we reach European places or not and that may also impact who might (have to) go

If you take away Pedros 10 penalty goals and 6 goals in Europa League…

He’s only scored 4 goals from open play in the Premier league.

Not denying 19 goals is impressive, as it is, and you take goals in any form. But just saying maybe some of what Gloom has heard from Brighton fans is true and the total number of goals glosses over that a bit.

I think that Ederson from Atalanta is likely to join in the summer.

Don’t think we’ll be getting a big name striker.

A right sided attacker maybe, unless we take a good look at Minteh and he manages to impress Howe so much that he thinks he’s ready. That, or a young but decent striker.

Then a keeper, but one similar quality to Dubs with Pope still our number 1.

A younger center back to partner Botman more and allow us to go 3 at the back in more games. Burn, Hall and Tino to have left back sorted and Trippier and Tino right back options.

Although I still think there’s a chance Trippier may get sold.

Though, if we do sign Ederson or any other central midfielder, it does leave a big question as to who starts in midfield for us.

Bruno, Joelinton, Tonali, Willock, Anderson, Longstaff and then a new central mid.

Hard to choose a starting 3.

Penalties have to b scored to don’t forget lol.
And yes if u take away the Penalties it doesn’t look so hot but overall he’s 19 goals in all competitions so he clearly has an eye for goal and can finish.im sure if we had got him that time Eddie would of had him well coached and he’d b hitting double figures for us.but wasn’t to b.got to look on the bright side tho whoever we do bring in come the summer they’ll be quality signings far from the Mike Ashley days of wondering if we’ll even sign anyone.

As far as I can recall the only early and regular link in previous windows apart from the 2 striikers and Lingard on loan was for Barnes

There aren’t many leaks and Press therefore regularly get their guesses wrong

As ever I’ll put my trust in our Recruitment Brains Trust largely getting it right

I’m useless at these guessing games as I really don’t watch enough football especially European (and South American) games to even have a wish list

Yes I can see which PL players would be good but unless from relegated sides we dont shop here much

So apart from say Barkley who’d we want 😉

Also expect young uns in as that is also how we”ll build as i said last night

Everybody can see the current squad isn’t performing, this year, to the level we’re after, so it needs strengthening.
My priority is the attacking midfielder we didn’t get when Spurs offered Maddison better bucks.
Bye bye Sean or down to squad level (££ would be nice/keeping local lad would be nice/getting a better footballer essential)
Next is right-side attacker. I’m not mentioning any names (bye bye) but someone two-footed could be handy.
Next is the CF we need because we have two splendid goalscorers/sicknotes, which is certainly one and possibly even two too many, one of which ain’t getting any younger, t’other is sensational. But together they haven’t been enough this year and won’t improve injury-wise next year (one sicknote and ageing, one made of glass). I don’t know anything about foreign footballers, but there are Toney and Watkins for starters plus Solanke and Ferguson all Premier League proven and expensive. We will have to pay big.
As for a speedy centre half…………………….

Botman hasn’t been right since he returned. Hindsight is a great thing, but they decided not to operate. I will not criticise without knowing all the facts. We obviously took a risk and it has blown up! Let’s hope he is out for six months. A centre back becomes even more of a requirement in the summer. Kelly of Bournemouth looks even more appealing. Lascelles will have his extension as well.

Hibbitt, yes this is the medical team I slagged off, correctly so.

The care of Botman ( and possibly others ) has been iffy, and people like me openly questioned it

So now who looks like a twat for saying that I was “sticking the knife in” to the club.

You can take your foot out of your mouth now.

Shocking news, let’s hope Eddie saying we are tight on budget is a load of balls.

9, it’s awful news for a club that says it’s tight to the wire on ffp.

I keep saying we need to buy athletes for Eddie because his way of playing has to be physically tough

But if you have a rubbish medical team….

That’s why I said previously that we can’t consider that this injury mare is a one off.

With Botman’s injury, which rules him out for a good part of next season, could Eddie survive with:

Burn moving into central defence and the left back position taken by Hall and Targett

Or will the club go for a young centre half in the summer transfer window?
