Our Best Player At Manchester City May Not Be With Us Next Season

In our poll for the quarter-final tie at Manchester City over the weekend, which we lost 2-0,  Bruno Guimaraes yop the poll as our best player with over 30% of the vote.

Rumors are brewing that the top executives at Newcastle think we need to sell one or more players this summer to be able to spend money to strengthen other positions in the side.

And we know Bruno has a release clause in his contract for £100M, so we could sell him to a top club and have that £100M (and more depending on PSR) to spend on new players this summer.

We really hope we are not still in the business of selling our best players, and we would prefer to keep Bruno and sell some other players – maybe like Sean Longstaff and others – but not the current star of our side – that seems a little daft to us.

What do you think?

We had absolutely everything to play for when Botman first got injured, I can see why they were desperate to get him back. There will 100% be a review in May, but remember before people go apportioning blame, it was the same medical team that had one of the best injury records at the club for years.

No idea really, but Wouldn’t these injuries have been referred to specialists/consultants and not Bob the physio just saying strap him up and send him out, he’ll be fine. 😀

    Zele,
It was Schar and Burn the season before so I don’t see why not, but then again it was Lascelles and Schar this season with BDB at LB until his back injury against Arsenal.

    Davas,
Someone has to be blamed, someone has to be justified in apportioning blame. There will be a dunking or a burning.

EH, has a,ready said In an interview, they were going to look into the medical team, so they’ll know after this sorry season of injuries that’s top priority,
There’s no need for the glee.
This transfer window is going to be crucial,

Man I hope we don’t need to sell our crème in order to buy!

We have us a digital sponsor, get a calculator and abacus sponsor too, fill those shirts Formula 1 style but don’t sell key players.

Welcome back to some “old” posters too. You folks got any loose change? Ibiza, a million or two?

Davas it doesn’t matter, the club owns the asset, so referrals to specialists are important.

Either way the whole season is a load of pox.

Reading the comments about Botman’s injury I hadn’t realised we had so many medical experts on this blog.

Looks like Lascelles will be staying on in the summer, Botman out for up to 9 months, jeez when will this injury farce ever end.
This fiasco needs to be looked into , and sharpish, what,s the fiootin point of the owners spending good money on players if they are getting crocked after playing a few games.
Every club gets injuries but our plight is off the scale.
Who`s fault is that then, it certainly is not the owners assessing the players fitness.
Its an absolute shambles which could prove very costly indeed.

De Bruyne is injured again after coming back from injury. Liverpool have had loads of injuries because Klop “only knows one way to play”. Probably most managers in the Premier league want resilient athletes to cope with the intensity of the Premier league.

Presume so, but initial care is on us. As is the choice of specialist.

    It’s not good Davas.

Of course some idiots ( Jail, Hibbitt, others ) will put their head in the sand and claim that’s its all fate and trust their tea leaves.

    I’d rather not.

Looking at the essential (goals) to win all football matches:
This season proves two injury prone CFs isn’t good enough,
so next season we need 3 CFs.
    Isak is one
The other could be any two from:
    Wilson/Watkins/Solanki/Toney/Ferguson/young, quick Johnny Foreigner.

I’m sure the club is trying, but the massive underfunding of the MA era, it’s going to take awhile before the overhaul if every department.
Let’s pray we get to where we all want our club to be, surely that’s what most fans want.
Can’t wait for next week season, HWTL

Davas he said he played against Brentford and did his knee in and then played 2 games.

Nobody knew ( apparently) but that seems like dereliction of duty, or incompetence.

This could affect his whole career ffs so I hope pif get involved and get to the bottom of this.

Someone said our head medic came from Leicester who had a poor injury record under him? Dunno.

    C’mon man 🙂

Seems like it was a medical gamble and one that was thought worth taking

It is possible to get through injuries without an op which surely has to be last option if other viable ones are there ( it’s one that I am getting on with concerning a bad back)

It is one that is probably medically weighed up against how much a particular player is needed at a particular time, what he personally feels about it and is it one that could be safely postponed amongst a lot of competing factors – some you win some you don’t

We usually hear about these type not the ones here they come through unscathed

By far majority of injuries have been freak ones and injuries negt t6her injuries sometimes

However as I’ve said previously this season will be assessed ( as it should) from the Manager, coaches. recruitment. training, pitch down to ticketing arrangements and stadium catering

Let’s see what changes follow if any before we rush to judgement and you can put a tick down to you 🙂

Seems like Botman didn’t realise he was injured and then felt he was good when he came back and that the right choice was made at the time.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Botman admitted: “I did my knee against Brentford but then played two games after that [without realising].

“It blew up the day after the Sheffield United game and the scan showed some big damage in my knee. Some [specialists] said it was a total rupture, others said that it wasn’t. So I’ve done everything to rest and avoid surgery.

“The operation would’ve kept me out for nine months but I’m back and feeling like my old self again — so it seems like I made the right choice.”
