Our Best Player At Manchester City May Not Be With Us Next Season

In our poll for the quarter-final tie at Manchester City over the weekend, which we lost 2-0,  Bruno Guimaraes yop the poll as our best player with over 30% of the vote.

Rumors are brewing that the top executives at Newcastle think we need to sell one or more players this summer to be able to spend money to strengthen other positions in the side.

And we know Bruno has a release clause in his contract for £100M, so we could sell him to a top club and have that £100M (and more depending on PSR) to spend on new players this summer.

We really hope we are not still in the business of selling our best players, and we would prefer to keep Bruno and sell some other players – maybe like Sean Longstaff and others – but not the current star of our side – that seems a little daft to us.

What do you think?

Davas …..no it doesn’t look like you can, but if multiple specialists are saying rest it, he obviously went with their opinions.

Good decision, bad decision, it’s hard to say. There’s pros and cons to every choice. So long as due care is taken before a decision is made, then it’s simply a choice, with associated risks, and you live with it.

When you look at Keefie Richards’ hands, you must wonder how he still does it

If multiple specialists were saying different things then of course the player is going to avoid an op. If they’d all said “look pal, you need an op here or you’ll prolong this for a year” I doubt very much he or the club would have took the rest option.

Bad decision obviously because he now needs an operation. But nobody is in a position to say I told you so.

We all know injuries happen, and we all know we’ve had more than our fair share, and we also know a few have been freaks (Barnes/Murphy, BDB’s back/Pope?(not sure, since it’s happened before……..) but on they come, they aren’t getting fewer or lesser. Out goes Joe, out goes Sven…it isn’t stopping, so a perfectly fair bet is we’ll get even more injuries during the remainder of this season. Wow. I honestly don’t know what to make of it. As far as I’m aware. our medical team is the same this season (disastrous injuries) as last season (nothing unusual in injuries at all). We do know we had that Champions League run, so extra games. I’m not counting Tonali either way, he wasn’t here last season and he (virtually) isn’t here this season, so no impact on injury scene. Extra games is the only variable I can see. We want extra ganes so the squad must be deepened. When I think back to the bench in our last few CL matches, it’s stomach-turning the staggering flimsiness of it.
Squad needs strengthening (how original is that/)

You have to include Tonali, because he was drafted in to cope with the extra load, and simply wasn’t there when he was most needed, putting added strain on those who were. Similarly Barnes and Hall. We’ve played this year, with basically the same players as last, minus Maxi, with all those added games midweek against top opponents.

Sometimes (always?) The player should be protected from himself.
They will almost always opt to play. If Botman was 34, it would make sense to avoid the operation however at 24 he should have had the operation.
He would have missed the season but he could lose his career.

Ah – a Playing for Change one which you and Tuff used to often put up years back ( don”t get back into who started that one!!)

I don’t recall seeng this one but I have watched a lot and they are all good

Feats of audio and video collaborations as well as superb musicians and singers ( not so much Keef maybe 🙂 )

Pity wider world couldn’t combine as well in harmony

Wow, what powerful voice Allison Moorer has and I don’t remember seeing that video and thus that particular Sessions. I have the complete series one on DVD and often duck into that with a bottle by my side for company. Aly B must have a helluva network by now.

It’s sods law you missed seeing Emmylou but you made your choice and that’s life.

I hope he doesn’t mind be saying so, but Swablr’s a fount of musical wisdom and I’m sure you’d enjoy the craic.

I also hope that you’re bearing up and are looking forward to feeling the warmth of a North Yorkshire sun on your back!

    Keep smiling bonny lad
