Bruno Guimaraes is very ambitious, and he is at the right club at the moment, with the Newcastle owners wanting Newcastle United to become one of the best and most liked clubs in world football – as quickly as possible. while abiding by the FFP rules (PSR)
That’s a short but effective way of stating Newcastle’s ambitions since becoming majority-owned by the Saudi Arabia PIF.
Guimaraes signed a new long-term contract at Newcastle earlier this season, which lasts through 2028, and it includes a release clause of £100M, so if a club bids that release clause amount, they can talk to the player about personal terms.
The 26-year-old midfielder is crucial to Newcastle’s creativity in the middle of the park.
Guimaraes is still improving under Eddie Howe and he is currently preparing with the Brazil squad, for the game at Wembley between England and Brazil tomorrow night, where hopefully Newcastle’s Anthony Gordon will get his first cap for the full England side.
We have had a difficult and rather disappointing season so far, although we were unlucky to exit the Carabao Cup and the Champions League by conceding late goals at Chelsea and PSG respectively.
And we have had far too many injuries, which must be looked at this summer before next season starts.
Here is an interview Guimaraes has given at the Brazilian training camp:
“This season we have been struggling,” “I think we’ve had many problems with injuries and suspensions but this is part of the process.”
“When I signed for the club I knew that this would happen.”
“Things have happened too quickly. During my two years at the club, we reached a final, unfortunately, we didn’t win but we got there after 20 years which was massive for the club.”
“I don’t know. I am not involved in that (when asked pontedly about Newcastle selling top players to strengthen other positions in the side).
“We never know what is going to happen but I’m happy at the club.”
“Of course, I’m disappointed about our season but I think we still have a chance to finish at least seventh, Europa League or Conference League.”
“But about the club staff, I cannot speak too much. I don’t know what is going to happen in the future but what I can say is I am so grateful for Newcastle.”
That’s a good interview from Guimaraes with the Brazilian as positive as he can be.
But if the higher-up executives at Newcastle think it is the best thing to do this summer to sell him and use the £100M to strengthen other positions at the club, he will be sold.
That’s the brutal truth – and we hope it doesn’t happen.
What do you think?

Seems entirely plausible but make your own minds up as it doesn’t fit plenty of fans take

Thanks for that mate, as a member i do remember that survey, but as someone who could only attend about 2 games a year i decided not to partake in the said survey as i thought my views would be unfair on the regular fans who attend most home games!! hence i think their views on the stadium situation are much more valid and worthy.
A lot of fans will have mixed views, and will do a lot of soul searching, and it`s never going to be an easy decision one way or the other for the fans, there is a lot of history at Saint James, and with that comes a lot of raw emotion,
I would love to know what the Owners preferred option is mate.

Yes the glass analogy is a lazy but nevertheless apposite one i think
It’s about life in general not just single topic of course
By emphasing and concentrating on those negative aspects but only letting other posters address positive ones you can end up unwittingly or not labelling yourself as always negative
As a consequence you continually draw fire and provocation from the same group of posters and get into endless to and froing that no gives way on – mind i think you might also enjoy it 🙂
I know from chats over the years that there is a lot more to you than this “negative” persona that you’re comfortable with – I’d just like to see more of Munster shine through so try not to always row against the tide and take a hard earned break and gives us some upbeat takes now and again
All meant well i think you’ll apreciate but i’ll butt out now – each to their own on here as always 🙂

Comment #47Essex we will use the best specialists to fix botman but I’m not sure the fan base thinks our club medical team is at the top of its game. Did you see the guy treating Gordon on the pitch?
There are others who think there is zero wrong with anything , as is their right.

Hi mate, whatever decisions the owners come up with, in regards to the stadium, i think they will already have arrived at that decision, but they will want to arrive at that decision with the full compliance and approval of the fanbase, just my opinion marra.

Aye as I said when you have multi million pound assets to be dealt with then the best medical staff should be available to handle injuries’, Pretty sure that that will come sooner rather than later. Be surprised if it doesn’t!

Isn’t what the medic done with Gordon just normal practice? He bent the knee till Gordon felt discomfort, Gordon let him know when it hurt. Medic then was more aware of where the issue was and recommended subbing him off.
As it turns out, the knee wasn’t as bad as feared and Gordon played the very next match.
What was bad about it?
Gordon reaction made it look worse than it was I think. But it doesn’t matter if someone carefully bends your leg, or quickly and aggressively bends your leg, if you’ve got severe pain somewhere, you’ll let the same scream out regardless as soon as it hits that spot.
People are just over-dramatising every little situation at the moment because it’s not been a great season.

On the Botman injury.
I have no specialist knowledge of these things.
Some folks who do are putting out this information.
Modern scans are very diagnostic. If there is damage to a ligament they will find it.
Ligaments don’t heal with rest. They don’t heal on their own.
I do know this blog fairly well. Some won’t have a bad word said about the present set up at NUFC.
Those same folks. If Charnley and Bruce were still in charge and this situation became apparent. They would be spitting feathers.
Talk of wheely bins etc etc.
*************************************************
Just an update on the above.
The first half there is factually correct.
The content of those comments is out there on MSM and social media.
I’m not saying the claims are correct. I’m just saying they are out there.
The second part. It’s not having a go at the club. It’s having a go at those who are blinkered in their thinking.
Guess who is not happy about that.
So predictable.
Fenners – he still needs to get to Pie Club. It would help him greatly.

Comment #56Someone said the decision would be Botman’s alone as it is his knee.
Absolutely, you can’t make someone play if they are injured that is true.
However, the club have to agree for him to carry on.
They have a duty of care. They have to subject it to a risk assessment.
You can’t allow someone to continue if you think it may cause them further harm.
I would think they did that.
All I’m saying is the club have to go through that process.
The club are accountable and have to do the right thing.
They can’t get out of that by saying well he wanted to continue.
I’d be very surprised if they did not do that.

Comment #58The issue I see with the FFP handcuffs and the new stadium debate is that PIF may think there is a better opportunity with another club, say in Italy, and start focusing their attention and money there. Added to that, the prospect of the Football Regulator coming in, and rumblings in the “Lords” about football ownership, PIF may well start focusing their attention elsewhere.
For me, the prospect of a new state of the art stadium, is something the fans should be biting their hands off for. This may be the only chance EVER, to get a new stadium, and I would think it increase the involvement of the owners with the club, the local area and the local people.
I just hope that nostalgia and nimbyism don’t let the opportunity slip away.

The Cabal.
I’ve followed them for years on here.
Rafa – would not have the hint of anything negative said.
What followed. Fair enough they deserved stick. However, they turned on still match going supporters and that was still the majority.
Some encouraged folks to give up their tickets but kept theirs.
Some claimed to have given up their tickets but then some time later said well actually no I didn’t.
Now it’s nothing negative can be said about the current set up.

Comment #64Yeah I always go to my Dentist when I want to know about knee surgery …
Seriously though,
I watch a lot of the NUFC content on Youtube.
At the end of the day, they’re just passionate fans like the posters on here.
Not necessarily well informed or ill informed, but will generally have an audience in mind.
You watch the piece and then make up your own mind on whether that view or argument concurs with yours.
If it doesn’t you have an option to ignore and move on, or leave your feedback in the comments section below it.
It’s purely their own personal take or view.
That’s absolutely no different to here, so I’m always baffled as to why some (blog) posters take such huge offence when their own personal take is questioned, or rebuffed on here?
One man’s ‘gospel’ can be another man’s ‘gullible’.
It’s a personal choice.
PS
Cabal’s are secret.
All posters on here are generally pretty open with their views.
Just some don’t like having them being rebuked.
