Why This Player Could Be An Excellent Signing For Newcastle This Summer

Newcastle United have been reported to be very interested in signing Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly this summer.

Kelly will become a free agent in the summer and initially, we thought he would come in as a left-back and take over that position from Dan Burn, who seems to be targeted by the opposition in most of our games lately.

However, the 6ft 3ins tall left-footed player is versatile and can also play as a left-sided center-back.

So if Newcastle can sign him in a bargain deal as a free agent, he could play at center-back alongside Fabian Schar (or Jamal Lascelles)  while Sven Botman is injured – probably until the end of this year.

Kelly does have several Premier League clubs after him, including Spurs and Liverpool.

Still, we hope the pull of playing again for head coach Eddie Howe, as he did at Bournemouth, will have him choose Newcastle.

And if Newcastle are really keen on his signature there’s no reason why Newcastle cannot agree to the deal now and make it official come July 1st.

And we trust that Eddie Howe and his coaching staff can get the very best out of Kelly, as they have done with so many other Newcastle players.

What do you think?

100% suits the (current) system Eddie likes.

    Concern is his injury profile.

    Love his pace and athleticism

Munster it’s a very common occurrence when a player has been out for a long time with an injury that when he returns he suffers some other strain or pull – I guess because they’ve been inactive for so long – so I’m not sure of the point you are trying to make?
This happened to Kevin De Bruyne recently so are Man City medical staff incompetent as well???

I’d take Lloyd Kelly as he is a free and the lad is a cracking marauding LB. He can switch to a back 3 easily also as he can play CB. I know he has injury issues in the past but as he is free I think it’s a no brainer. He will be rotated a lot with Hall also as I think Eddie and NUFC are playing a clever game with Hall so that we can get him much cheaper and we will see much more of him next season.

Martoon, the point I’m making is that we may have been bringing guys back too early. I don’t know, but it looks like a high enough incidence of re-injury.

Obviously some knobs (not u!) will now claim I hate the club but am I bovvered?
