Peter Silverstone, head of the Commercial deals at the club, told the Fan Advisory Board at the end of last month the top priority for Newcastle is now to do a deal with a training kit partner.
In the past, the partner who had the names of the shirts (like SELA has now at Newcastle) did the deal for training too, but the top clubs these days are separating the partners for the jersey worn during games from the players’ training kit.
That adds up to more commercial revenue for the clubs.
This is what Peter Silverstone said in a meeting with the club’s fan advisory board last month:
“Securing a training kit partner is a top priority for commercial partnerships,”
“If we can attract global partners, they can help us to activate and attract new fans in previously unreached markets.”
“Adidas, for example, is committing to supporting our growth globally and from a brand perspective, it will be a watershed moment for the club.”
“Ultimately, that relationship, like all kit partnerships, relies on fans buying products locally and internationally.”
Silverstone has been the top executive at Newcastle driving up the club’s commercial revenues to hopefully be in line with the top six clubs in England asap.
We did almost nothing to increase commercial revenues under the previous owner, so we are starting with a low commercial revenue number.
But our total revenues in the last financial year – through June 30th of last year – were £250M – an almost 40% increase over the previous year of about £180M.
Commercial revenues increased from £28M to £46M – a 64% increase in the same period.
So we are getting there and the more revenue we earn the more we can spend on players according to the PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Rules).
What do you think?

I wasn’t on The Blog at all yesterday as I was otherwise occupied with my Birthday – it’s was my 80th so it’s now official I’m an Octogenarian – how about that then! I’m very grateful to God for reaching that milestone!
Sadly so many of my friends, and even my own brother, left us at too early an age!
When my Grandson was born in 2004 I asked God to help me take care of him! The less I say about his Father the better! So I’m really glad to have been around to help him when he needed another man around!
Chuffed to have reached a special number!

At 62, you’re still a young un
At least you are compared to John J
Who received his telegram from Charles yesterday
(80 my arse! 😀 )
And to other guys like EGB
Who I think must be about 93
And to Mr Tuff who I believe is a patron
Of that Nursing facility being run by matron
So go out and party while you still can
And as you share your day with the ‘Rocket Man’
And also with the lovely Tracey next door
You can take that ‘Tiny Dancer’ onto the dance floor
Looking resplendent in her party frock
Getting down to the vibes of the ‘Crocodile Rock’
Just ensure that it’s not within your good lady’s sighting
Or you’ll find more than Saturday night’s are alright for fighting!

Comment #12Fans quite rightly point to injuries and suspension as having undermined our season, and then want to have a go at those who actually have fronted, through injury and fatigue. Longstaff is an important player, when the squad is fully fit, and when it isn’t. Excellent athlete, good footballer, top pro, Newcastle through and through. Just be told, you knuckleheads. 😉

Comment #13Ok, Man city joining race to sign Bruno.
I love City the way they play football and how they’ve raised standards, BUT…
Isn’t this a bit shameless, that they’re behaving as if nothing has happened? As if there aren’t 115 charges against them? Innocent until proven guilty and all that but it ain’t two or three cases.
If the Liverpools and Citys of this world keep plucking the best from the second tier (your Wolves, Newcastles, Villas etc.) how can the latter ever hope to catch up?

Comment #15Wow, Everton, Forrest and now the Foxes.
It’s amazing how Chelsea and Man City have skirted this for so long and still nothing.
Yes, let’s go after teams that go over by a little and not the teams in the supposed top six that literally say FCUK YOU to the premier league.
They have gone over by god knows how much and with someone like Man City on 115 charges are they going to say there was nothing they could find?
In the mean time, they handcuff teams like Newcastle so we cannot compete, honestly Premier league, it’s like a guy who gets caught for robbing 20 banks and then the judge asks, what would you like your sentence to be.
Stop asking clubs their thoughts and stand up Pussies and tell them how it’s going to be.

You’ll be around, no worries young man.
Thing is, if FA go after City etc, they’ll (city etc.) start talking about a new league again. And, they’ll do it this time.
Tbh, think they’ll be giving us a call as well…

Comment #20Some really well spoken Forest fan on SSN saying how this new PSR just isn’t fair, these so called ‘big clubs’ as Masters described them, he said Chelsea and Man City weren’t even big clubs 20 years ago, how is anyone outside of the big revenues supposed to compete when you HAVE to sell your best players to them.

I never realized this, but what the feck were Paraguay thinking of doing agreeing to this match in the first place.
Postponed indefinitely ? Gormless. The word is cancelled.
No international football for Miguel Almiron this month.
The Paraguay friendly that was due to be played in Moscow today (Monday 25 March) having been postponed indefinitely.
The Russian Football Union saying that they and Paraguay had agreed to the cancellation after at least 134 people were killed by gunmen in a concert hall near Moscow on Friday, with IS (Islamic State) having claimed responsibility.

Let’s see if UEFA or who is responsible stick by their guns and prevent them from being in Europe. Considering they only had a minor fine for trying to set up the proposed Euro Super League banning them because they are operating outside the rules seems correct. Unless there’s a brown envelope in the post.

All very interesting and an eye will be kept very strongly focused on the corruption which has been in plain sight for years now mate. (It will all come out, it always does)…
Situations such as this will only strengthen the likes of us and man c positions going forward. The house of cards are very much likely to fail or collapse. We’re in a great position to strike and our owners appreciate and understand this.
LCFC will be the catalyst for this to take place imo and they (LCFC) know this.

Comment #40AGM some further info re the origins of Leazes.
Leaze means Pasture, Meadow or Grassland. It comes from Old English word Lea.
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/leaze
The term “leazes” has an interesting history with multiple meanings. Let’s explore its origins:
From Middle English “leas” (also spelled “lees” or “les”):
This word traces back to Old English “l?as”, which means “false, void, loose”.
It is derived from Proto-Germanic *”lausaz” (meaning “loose, free”), which in turn comes from Proto-Indo-European *”l?-” (indicating “to untie, set free, sever”).
Cognates include the German word “los” (which also means “loose”) and the Swedish word “lös”.
Essentially, it conveys a sense of something being “unbound” or “free” 1.
From Middle English “lese”:
This term originates from Old English “l?s”, which means “meadow”.
It is related to the Old Saxon word “l?sa” (also signifying “meadow”).
In this context, “leazes” refers to pasture, pasturage, or meadow-land.
The etymology suggests that it might be land that has been “let alone” or left undisturbed 2.
The noun “lease”:
The word “lease” has been in use since the Old English period (pre-1150).
It is a term inherited from Germanic languages 3.
So, whether it’s about gleaning grain, describing a meadow, or referring to a binding agreement, the word “leazes” has a rich linguistic history! ?
