Peter Silverstone Identifies The Next Step To Increase Newcastle’s Commercial Revenue

Peter Silverstone, head of the Commercial deals at the club, told the Fan Advisory Board at the end of last month the top priority for Newcastle is now to do a deal with a training kit partner.

In the past, the partner who had the names of the shirts (like SELA has now at Newcastle) did the deal for training too, but the top clubs these days are separating the partners for the jersey worn during games from the players’ training kit.

That adds up to more commercial revenue for the clubs.

This is what  Peter Silverstone said in a meeting with the club’s fan advisory board last month:

“Securing a training kit partner is a top priority for commercial partnerships,”

“If we can attract global partners, they can help us to activate and attract new fans in previously unreached markets.”

“Adidas, for example, is committing to supporting our growth globally and from a brand perspective, it will be a watershed moment for the club.”

“Ultimately, that relationship, like all kit partnerships, relies on fans buying products locally and internationally.”

Silverstone has been the top executive at Newcastle driving up the club’s commercial revenues to hopefully be in line with the top six clubs in England asap.

We did almost nothing to increase commercial revenues under the previous owner, so we are starting with a low commercial revenue number.

But our total revenues in the last financial year – through June 30th of last year – were £250M – an almost 40% increase over the previous year of about £180M.

Commercial revenues increased from £28M to £46M – a 64% increase in the same period.

So we are getting there and the more revenue we earn the more we can spend on players according to the PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Rules).

What do you think?

Big Joe, Botman, Miley….it clearly isn’t over yet. We will continue to endure even more injuries throughout the rest of the season. I don’t know why, but that is clearly the pattern. Blimey!

And it’s for 1.5 months apparently.

And then we wonder why the club is dragging the squad to Oz at the end of the season?

    Munster,
We’re clearly scraping every single £ we can get before financial end of season (end of June, is it?) which is the only possible reason for the otherwise madcap idiocy timing of the Oz trip.

How does Chilwell get a game for England? If as right back, sure our Tino would be a better bet as a left back for England. If big Dan would be a better bet

    JohnJ,

That link I put up is exactly what this filthy troll does on here. These things are nothing but cowards, if I witnessed these mask wearing cowards harassing an elderly woman like they did in that link the lot of them would learn a very valuable lesson and that’s an absolute fact. These things are the filth of society and have absolutely no place amongst normal society.

Do you of all people need to be reminded that (to use your words) this is a football blog and your views are as obnoxious as those you criticise.

Perhaps Southgate will realise that you need to fill your team with footballers. We seemed to play ok tonight but often the ball is moved too slowly, allowing defenders to get in shape. Players like Foden, Bellingham and Maddison are masters of the ball. Good first touch and pass, usually eye of the needle forwards, not bloody sideways!

Might have been your comment. I was at the women’s final and saw the pink, which did confuse me. But I’ve no problem with the girls adding their pink to our black and white. Gives them something that’s theirs and doesn’t diminish our B&W.

Miley has played way too many games this season and his body is still growing. No one’s fault but this is way we shouldn’t be restricted on spending. We’re running a business that needs investment across the board to enable us to secure future revenue streams that would make us self sufficient. Basic economics. Free market and all that. Oh forgot. Members only club!

“It doesn’t affect me that much. It has been talked about many times, in many windows. I see it as just such a thing.

Everyone knows that summer is coming and if things show up, things can happen, but I actually haven’t even thought about it.”

Onmeedsun. We play in Black and White. Not Black, White and Pink.
By the way it’s not the players that have changed the colours but the supporters.
The pink stood out like a sore thumb.
Those supporters have no right to change the colours.
If they want their own identity they can start their own club like the Hashtag United owners did.
Don’t mess with the colours. I wouldn’t mind so much if it was an away strip colour but it isn’t.
If the owners tried to change the home colours there would be hell on and rightly so.
