Peter Silverstone Identifies The Next Step To Increase Newcastle’s Commercial Revenue

Peter Silverstone, head of the Commercial deals at the club, told the Fan Advisory Board at the end of last month the top priority for Newcastle is now to do a deal with a training kit partner.

In the past, the partner who had the names of the shirts (like SELA has now at Newcastle) did the deal for training too, but the top clubs these days are separating the partners for the jersey worn during games from the players’ training kit.

That adds up to more commercial revenue for the clubs.

This is what  Peter Silverstone said in a meeting with the club’s fan advisory board last month:

“Securing a training kit partner is a top priority for commercial partnerships,”

“If we can attract global partners, they can help us to activate and attract new fans in previously unreached markets.”

“Adidas, for example, is committing to supporting our growth globally and from a brand perspective, it will be a watershed moment for the club.”

“Ultimately, that relationship, like all kit partnerships, relies on fans buying products locally and internationally.”

Silverstone has been the top executive at Newcastle driving up the club’s commercial revenues to hopefully be in line with the top six clubs in England asap.

We did almost nothing to increase commercial revenues under the previous owner, so we are starting with a low commercial revenue number.

But our total revenues in the last financial year – through June 30th of last year – were £250M – an almost 40% increase over the previous year of about £180M.

Commercial revenues increased from £28M to £46M – a 64% increase in the same period.

So we are getting there and the more revenue we earn the more we can spend on players according to the PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Rules).

What do you think?

Didn’t realise that Jamal Lewis was now also injured when on International Duty.

    It’s a conspiracy.

Here’s the thing for me, when it comes to the safety and well being of a player ( Human Being ) why have two friendlies so close to each other.

Back in the day there would be one every god knows when, now it’s like all the dame time and in short succession.

This money hungry thinking is not good for teams, no wonder many players pull out of internationals if they can.

Can we stop this madness, if players need a break during the season, shut down for a few weeks here and there.

I know money rules the game with TV rights etc but at what cost to the players.

    JohnJ,

Just caught up and you’re spot on today with your posts. Need to point out the below though from this post from you:

    “Lesh

Nothing personal but I can’t stand that Fat B pile of shite!

I’m not talking about Fenham either!”

    2 things things my friend:

    (1) I wouldn’t be too worried about being personal with looney lesh, he thrives on here when the $hit get dished out. Let’s put it this way he ain’t on here to discuss NUFC matters that’s for sure.

    (2) I wouldn’t listen too much to Munster or the Troll about me being fat as I’m 14st and train hard…On that note I’d love to see both Munster and that Troll not just to give them a serious lesson in manners (the troll a severe lesson) but also to laugh at the state of the pair of them, they will be a right disgusting sight, you know the type you wouldn’t leave your kids anywhere near. 😉

Lewis Hall in fine form yesterday for England
Introduced in the second-half with the score 1-1 and England struggling as they looked likely to lose this, Hall then turned the direction of the game with two quality assists.

    Charlie,

I think he will get a good runout next season mate. It will be made public knowledge as to why he hasn’t been played much this season. Eddie will make him a cracking player too. Hall is in very good hands and you can see his head hasn’t dropped as his body language has been good considering he hasn’t played much. Hall knows what the plan is imo.

WL, the blog will hopefully keep going, but when I post earlier than others about Miley getting injured and express that a small amount of money gained in Oz immediately after the injury ravaged season ends is a good idea….and then get attacked by a stupid noisy soft as fk in reality coked up knobhead…..well….don’t blame me for ruining the blog.

I’m delighted to chat the intricacies of tactics, injury issues, player ability, ownership, player purchases etc, with you and plenty of others, so why the fk should I blamed for the blogs demise because of the coke filled rantings of pink shorted ex army boy who thinks he’s in the old boys brigade of the SAS?

It wasn’t so long ago that your chums Fenham and Tuff were part of a select little group – Mund’s minders.

And now we have you and Tuff acting as minders for Fenham.

Tuff, it looks as though you’ve no chance of getting a stripe now – unless there’s a rank below Private.

Mund, hang in there and he may even get you a match ticket. Don’t hold your breath.

“”El brasileño de 100 millones que obsesiona a Guardiola“”
    – Fichajes

I slightly disappointed that there is no quote in the Spanish newspaper to back up the claim that Pep is ‘obsessed, but then again also relieved. Also the 10 man striker list that Arsenal are supposed to be working with, could quite easily be our list. So as we seem to be surrounded by speculation, with opinion being reported as news and hate being offered as constructive discussion. Here is my two peneth that flies in the face of supposed fact.

As we seemingly may have a good working relationship with Feyenoord, which should be cultivated for the benefit of both clubs. Would buying their 21 goal, Mexican striker
Santiago Gimenez, 22 and immediately loaning him back be of use?

At the end of the season we will not be in a position to attract the top talent that operate at CL clubs and Feyenoord get to keep their man for another bash at the CL. The only issue being our so called restricted budget….

….does anyone know if at the recent ‘Fans Forum’ meeting, whether the club were asked about flooding the club with Saudi backed money and the apparent apathy to challenge the current status que?

I have not really sought out much reporting but have overheard that the meeting was very much pre conceived and mild mannered. With club officials being left free of any serious scrutiny.

Aye agree with G, the he said she said stuff is school boy pathetic behaviour.

Nobody cares who started it or the finger pointing stuff.

Instead of blaming others and defending your own behaviour by claiming you’re just defending yourself, just change your behaviour instead and rise above it.

Dishing it back and then crying “But they said it first!” just makes you look like an immature child to be honest.

Not a good look and everyone is guilty for it at the moment.

    And no, it’s not ‘banter’.

West Ham are very hot and cold this season, I fancy us to have the edge seeing as we’re playing at home.

Think it’ll be tight but we’ll win 3-1, with a late third as West Ham go all out attack.

    Gordon, Isak and Anderson.
