Peter Silverstone Identifies The Next Step To Increase Newcastle’s Commercial Revenue

Peter Silverstone, head of the Commercial deals at the club, told the Fan Advisory Board at the end of last month the top priority for Newcastle is now to do a deal with a training kit partner.

In the past, the partner who had the names of the shirts (like SELA has now at Newcastle) did the deal for training too, but the top clubs these days are separating the partners for the jersey worn during games from the players’ training kit.

That adds up to more commercial revenue for the clubs.

This is what  Peter Silverstone said in a meeting with the club’s fan advisory board last month:

“Securing a training kit partner is a top priority for commercial partnerships,”

“If we can attract global partners, they can help us to activate and attract new fans in previously unreached markets.”

“Adidas, for example, is committing to supporting our growth globally and from a brand perspective, it will be a watershed moment for the club.”

“Ultimately, that relationship, like all kit partnerships, relies on fans buying products locally and internationally.”

Silverstone has been the top executive at Newcastle driving up the club’s commercial revenues to hopefully be in line with the top six clubs in England asap.

We did almost nothing to increase commercial revenues under the previous owner, so we are starting with a low commercial revenue number.

But our total revenues in the last financial year – through June 30th of last year – were £250M – an almost 40% increase over the previous year of about £180M.

Commercial revenues increased from £28M to £46M – a 64% increase in the same period.

So we are getting there and the more revenue we earn the more we can spend on players according to the PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Rules).

What do you think?

Unless the club and certain players come out with positive statements showing their commitment to the club for next season, we’re going to see the rest of this season unravel and fans will start to lose faith. All the questions will not be about what’s happening on the pitch but what’s going to happen to the club over the summer.

    JT

Couldn’t agree more – I made a plea to posters last week to look at themselves and their posts and if they couldn’t respect others at the very least think of ED as they are also trashing his Blog

There’s too much “he started it ”

Last few days have largely been pathetic and those busy scoring points of esch other, whilst using Blog as their own don’t seem to notice – many are long term posters as well!

I haven’t been back on long but I soon reaised why i previously stopped coming on as the in-fighting rarely lessens and is wose than ever before

I stuck around thinking maybe a fresh poster might distract because I felt ED deserves a harmonius Blog and hoped long term posters would maybe think similar thoughts

I took notice of what other posters told me about FB but could see for myself in past 7 days that if he ever had valid points to make they are submerged in the vile comments he seems to think are his right

Human nature being as it is will probably result in posters regretting JT’s departure then blame “the others” for it and cntinue to use the Blog for their trashing of others

    SHAME

I rewatched the England game last night the one against Brazil.
I’m not one to say players were trying to hurt Newcastle players but Lucas Paquetá seemed to go after AG hard like.
Was he trying to get him injured due to the West Han game this weekend?

    Now for this weekends game.
Just trying to remember last season, didn’t we go on an awesome run after last year’s warm weather training .

I’m hopeful this will be a re-run, let finish strong The Toon, shame we don’t have Lewis available, hopefully Willock and Barnes are available.
God our midfield has been hit hard this season, can we not get a break, we miss our Terry McCann ( Some will not know who that is ) referring to Big Joe, want this season over sooner rather than later, regroup, some new added talent and rehab’s and be stronger for new season.

The Athletic assessment of Nufc this season:

    Grade: C

Maaaaannnn, this is difficult. On the one hand, this has been a season crammed with extraordinary moments; a ground-shaking 4-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain, wins over both Manchester clubs in the Carabao Cup, a 5-1 win against Aston Villa, beating Sunderland for the first time in forever and a few more besides. Compared to their recent past, reaching two domestic cup quarter-finals is a miracle.

The problem is the other hand; compared to last season, a Wembley final, fourth place in the Premier League and a team that harried and pressed every week, this long stretch of sapping injuries, tired performances and waning identity feels bloody awful. Newcastle are 10th, have had two difficult transfer windows and are losing Dan Ashworth, their sporting director, to Manchester United.

    What’s left to play for?

Europe. Recover in the league and put on a spurt and, given the circumstances, a C could become a B. It could also become a D or worse. Newcastle desperately need some forward momentum and aim to make Europe their natural home.

Joke if they extend the ban.

The lad needed help which hopefully now he has got.

You have players like Greenwood still plying his trade after what he did but let’s shot our yearly bans for betting on football. I’d understand if it was match fixing.

Guess time will tell but it doesn’t look good

Any olive branch I offered was genuine and I can say that with hand on heart.

As an example , Fenners recently suggested he wud have a pint with me, but not,for example with FB.

I offered to buy him a beer in dublin or Limerick if he was over here .

His response a few days later was to attack a perfectly reasonable football post about the Oz trip, with personal insults.

That’s what offering peace gets, and it’s crystal clear. So my conscience is clear and nobody should expect me to rise above the level of abuse thrown at me here.

    the BBC statement

Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali has been charged with misconduct by the Football Association for alleged breaches of betting rules.

The 23-year-old is currently serving a 10-month ban issued by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in October for breaking betting rules in Italy.

Tonali joined Newcastle from AC Milan in July for £55m.

The FA alleges Tonali broke rules by placing 50 bets on matches between 12 August and 12 October 2023.

“Newcastle United acknowledges a misconduct charge received by Sandro Tonali in respect of alleged breaches of FA Betting Rules,” the club said on Thursday.

“Sandro continues to fully comply with relevant investigations and he retains the club’s full support.”

The FA banned Toney for 8 months and he had 232 betting issues that close to one day ban per bet.
If Sandro has 50 he may be banned for a further 50ish odd days.
Can our club please get some good news before the season starts?

I have, on here with Mund. Initially gave as good as I got back, then we made peace and don’t see us having sly digs or pops at each other anymore. Even if he suddenly decided to, I wouldn’t feel the need to back.

I’m also slightly ginger so get it in person a fair bit and did throughout school as i’m sure you can imagine haha

This is just words on a screen on a football blog.

Who gives a sh1t if someone is beaing a big meanie. Laugh it off and rise above.

Anyway, i’ve said all I need to.

It’s honestly pathetic man and I’m amazed how the likes of you and Fenham can sit there, type out what you have, post it, see it on the screen and thing “Yeah, that was the right thing to do. I feel good about that”.

    It’s weird.

Anyway, think i’ll comment far less on here going forward. Javea was bang on earlier and it didn’t take long for the exact things he mentioned to get going again. Doubt things wil lever chance.

    Peace out.

It can’t be classed as two simply because he moved from one jurisdiction to another.

Given the detailed charges Tonali must be cooperating fully with the FA. Hopefully, he has also been doing some good charitable work with reference to the dangers of gambling. Even after he knew he was facing an Italian investigation he still bet on English matches!!! Hopefully, he is responding to treatment.
