Peter Silverstone, head of the Commercial deals at the club, told the Fan Advisory Board at the end of last month the top priority for Newcastle is now to do a deal with a training kit partner.
In the past, the partner who had the names of the shirts (like SELA has now at Newcastle) did the deal for training too, but the top clubs these days are separating the partners for the jersey worn during games from the players’ training kit.
That adds up to more commercial revenue for the clubs.
This is what Peter Silverstone said in a meeting with the club’s fan advisory board last month:
“Securing a training kit partner is a top priority for commercial partnerships,”
“If we can attract global partners, they can help us to activate and attract new fans in previously unreached markets.”
“Adidas, for example, is committing to supporting our growth globally and from a brand perspective, it will be a watershed moment for the club.”
“Ultimately, that relationship, like all kit partnerships, relies on fans buying products locally and internationally.”
Silverstone has been the top executive at Newcastle driving up the club’s commercial revenues to hopefully be in line with the top six clubs in England asap.
We did almost nothing to increase commercial revenues under the previous owner, so we are starting with a low commercial revenue number.
But our total revenues in the last financial year – through June 30th of last year – were £250M – an almost 40% increase over the previous year of about £180M.
Commercial revenues increased from £28M to £46M – a 64% increase in the same period.
So we are getting there and the more revenue we earn the more we can spend on players according to the PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Rules).
What do you think?

Comment #321If Keith Downey is saying “the club don’t expect this to affect his return date.” – then that’ll do me as he is well connected to the club.
I think Craig Hope is saying the same thing also.
In a nutshell all this horrendously bad run of luck this season must not run into next season. It’s a slate wiped clean, the lads recharge their batteries and they go again all guns blazing and Tonali is crucial to this. As he will come back so strongly after all this cruel crap is behind him.

Comment #322The FA are just warming up
Coming to a club near you soon
Man City – could be banned for life
Man Town – no playing in Europe as they own two clubs
Chelsea – Abramovics cash still locked up and not being spent. Debt mountain and more dodgy delays than Arthur Daly.
Plenty more to come.

#316 spot on mate. They the FA are absolute hypocrites, it’s actually embarrassing how much they allow for betting sites to be advertised all over the shop, advertising it even on so many of the clubs football shirts.

Without asking it’s easy to work out which posters irritate you mate. I’m not gonna say anything else on the matter as we lost one of the best posters (JaveaToon) from here earlier today because of the pathetic spats that take place daily on here which unfortunately I’ve been very much part of them as my Achilles Heel is that I don’t suffer fools gladly, however, for the sake of the blog we will all have to suffer them and try and stick to football and ignore (as I know you and many others do).

Evening Fenham lad, i`ve been watching NUFC Matters for quite a while now, i appreciate it`s not for everyone mate, but i like the fact they don`t try and sensationalize every story just to get clicks, and they seem like knowledgeable and well informed lads, for example John Gibson aka Gibbo has been around for a long time, not many will know more about Newcastle than Gibbo, Steve Wraith also has basically a different panel on his shows most nights just to keep it fresh and interesting.

Gibbo is an absolute legend in the NE sports journalism world. There is not much this man doesn’t know about NUFC. For him to be part of the NUFC Matters panel is testament to the show…
As you say “a different panel on his shows most nights just to keep it fresh and interesting” – exactly that and one of the main reasons I watch the show when I can…
My missus got me watching it during the run up to the TO days and they had so much good content in what was happening and with the jewel in the crown at the time Mr Keith Patterson, he really made it interesting. We have a lot to thank the likes of KP and Steve Wraith for and that’s a fact.

Couldn’t agree more, if this kid can contribute like Palmer for Chelsea I can see him having a bright future with the club.
He looks good on paper when he played for Man City’s youth set up, we can only hope he has the same impact as Miley.
Honestly get him involved with Minteh pre season, may be two players we don’t need to sign in the window, giving much needed cash for other positions.

No doubt Keith Patterson was the jewel in the crown when he was on NUFC Matters, specially during those turbulent and crazy days during pre and post takeover, we are all so indebted to that lad in the massive roll he played in helping get the takeover completed, and eventually being liberated from the unmentionable one. I can still clearly remember the night he emotionally broke down on the show when the takeover was completed, the lad was totally physically and emotionally exhausted!! He most certainly wore his heart on his sleeve for the cause mate.

In reference to keepers, i was actually in a huge minority on the blog when i said we should go for Nick Pope when he was at Burnley mate, now i would love us to go back to Burnley for their present keeper James Trafford, that lad is a truly great prospect, some of his saves for Burnley have been simply breathtaking, also he has appeared for all the England underage teams, i honestly think he will be Englands number one keeper in a few years Fenham.

Yes he looks a bright young prospect for the club really excited about this young lad.i can see him maybe getting a couple of sub appearance from now till the end of the season with are midfield being so light, abit lik miley got last season.as for next season we might see him loaned out to a top championship side to get regular playing time and bring his development on faster.but really excited to see what this young lad can do.he cud b our Phil foden, exciting times.
