Can Newcastle Beat West Ham Tomorrow?

With Howe and the non-International players back from Dubai and their warm-weather training, we have 10 league games left in which we will try to qualify for European competition for next season.

At the moment, we are 10th in the league, but Newcastle will need to perform well in the final 10 games and get some wins to move up to at least 7th place, which should guarantee Newcastle European football for next season.

Premier League Table 2023-2024

PositionTeamPlayedWonLostDrawnGDPoints
5Tottenham38201261366
6Chelsea38181191463
7Newcastle38181462360
8Man United3818146-160
9West Ham38141310-1452

If we are to get European competition it is games like West Ham at home that we must win – let’s hope we can do that tomorrow in the early kickoff game and get an excellent start to the 10-game run-in to the league.

I don’t pretend to understand addiction (just as I don’t injuries and their treatment) so I’ll leave it to the experts on here (on all manner of things of which they have no experience either) to decry Tonali

I wish him the best in his treatment and hope to see him playing for us next season

Hopefully the FA will look sympathetically on situation and take into account his current ban and what he is doing to rectify his problem

I know Easter isn’t about ‘eggs” in essence

Magscar. Totally agree. People are looking at from their own minds and from the mind of an addict ( impossible if you aren’t one or a well trained expert) and there lies the problem. 4-2 tomorrow but I wouldn’t bet on it.

A clean sheet would be welcome but yep I wouldn’t bet on that either 🙂

I’m cautiously optimistic of a win to set us on course for 7th given our fixtures and those of our rivals but we need 3 points tomorrow

Addiction makes no sense presumably even to addicts – it’s a mental health issue that needs treating not calling out

I know you said you’re no longer posting but your last post contained a comment about me doing nowt more than latching on to others’ posts to attack your chum, Fenham.

For the sake of my understanding, will you post an example of the behaviour you referred to.

You may remember, you’ve posted inaccurate comments about me before and despite an invitation to exemplify, I’m still waiting.

I get it that as ex armed forces, you’ll support former forces but surely it’s only fair to offer balanced opinion.

So, in summary, I’m waiting for an example of the behaviour you’ve criticised me for and you can add an example of whatever it was you accused memof some time back.

If you can’t exemplify, an apology’d be welcome but since you’ve said you’re not posting now, I won’t hold my breath.

    Asking for a naive friend:

What’s wrong betting on your OWN team to win. Draw or loss I get, but win? Isn’t that what you play for?

Frowned upon yes, a slap on the wrist ok, naugthy too. Stupid even. But illegal?Dangerous, if you’re gambling beyond your loose change and means, and addicted.

But if gambling is all over players shirts, generally legal which it is*, then what’s the big deal? If you bet on your own team to win, only? Or other leagues which have nothing to do with you or anyone you know?

    * Whether it should be legal or not is a matter of debate.

    magscar,

A few threads back I mentioned that gambling addiction was a mental health problem and it is where it needs treated as such. As a certified MHFA member I have had times where I’ve had to discuss with personnel about their addictions and gambling habits were part of it. It’s a terrible habit to kick and I feel for people who have addictions as it’s all down to their addictive personality it’s not a flaw in their character just a flaw in their mental wellbeing…

the first step for an gambling addict is recognising the symptoms of gambling addiction and trying to understand why and how the addiction developed, as well as what other stresses or problems they may be trying to avoid. This would be best explored through individual or support group therapy specialists where I’m sure the club would have sought out the best possible, support, and therapist.

The best thing that Tonali needs is support and an understanding from the club, manager, players and the fanbase. Luckily he has it in abundance here which I’m sure will be very well received by Tonali and just the tonic he needs. He’s in great hands right now.

Tonali betting whether drugs, alcohol, betting he needs help – lot of holier than thou art on here but the biggest is clubs the FA and Premiership.
The clubs allow fans to bet on games by having a betting shop in the ground
Every match on commercial television betting is promoted before game and at half time.
But the worst is talk radio who even bet on the scores next scorer when the game is being played.
    Also newspapers who promote football

Yet all want the players banned – f**ckin hypocrites the lot of them

Only on here to stir the pot, nothing else. What a sad life to lead as being your only soul purpose in life is to stalk a football blog to antagonise strangers and clearly done it for years for your fix. Really pathetic behaviour and sad!

I get what your saying but its not the advertising that creates the addiction in the same way that advertising or selling alcohol doesn’t create alcoholics

I can see why it might be a good idea to ban betting co’s displayed on shirts just as alcohol was but it’s more an ethical one that thinking it would stop gambling addiction or make it less attractive

Let’s face it like many other issues we face it’s onlne that has exploded the problem and no longer just bookies or fruit machines in pubs

I don’t bet personally but there are a lot of people who get enjoyment from it and do so responsibly – because they are able to unfortunately there are those who can’t

Individual pundits’ opinions might be wrong minded but even some of our fans think he’s a fool

For those who celebrate Easter (or who like 90’s music) here’s a link to a brilliant performance of The Manchester Passion in 2006 – I remember fondly it from the live showing on Good Friday that year and have watched it on several Easter’s since

Even a Newcastle connection with Darren Morfitt – main actor

I`m also a big fan of Christy Moore, in relation to young Meadhbh Walsh, when i was a Driving Instructor and during the covid crisis, i had to contend with 3 lengthy lockdowns, to get through that horrible time i spent a lot of my time listening to music, and that`s when i first came across her music, and incidentally it was during that time that she came to prominence, you could say that terrible time really worked in her favour mate.

The problem i have with Botman is under no circumstances should a player be able to make medical decisions over trained doctors and physios.

Imo the club still are at fault for being the ones to allow it.

Tough choices for the Bingo and trying to get clues from the presser, I was tempted to pick Amanda for somewhere in the team.
However I’ve a sneaky suspicion the Hall might get a game.

But I reckon the EA will only be in the squad and Longy will start.
