Eddie Howe Gives Update on Newcastle’s Injuries

It wouldn’t be Newcastle if we didn’t pick another injury and now Lewis Miley has a back problem and could be ruled out for as long as 6 weeks.

That takes us almost to the end of the season, so unfortunately we will not have Lewis available but there is better news on Elliot Anderson.

This is what Eddie Howe said about the Miley injury:

“Lewis has come back to us (from Intenrational duty) with a back problem, we are seeking specialist opinion on him, we don’t know exactly what it is right now.”

Eddie Howe on the progress of Elliot Anderson:

“He is getting there, he looks stronger and more robust, he has trained well the last two weeks.”

“He is a really talented player; I want to see him do well for the remainder of the season.”

And of course, we will be without Sven Botman who has an ACL injury and could be out until the end of this year.

Eddie Howe on Sven Botman:

“A big blow. It’s a complex story with Sven, initially he had a partial tear [earlier on this season], we saw specialist opinion and there was conflicting reports on what he should do next.”

“Ultimately, medical team advised him to get surgery, but he wanted to carry on. He has then aggravated that issue.”

“He now has a long road ahead of him, the operation went well. We hope he comes back in a better place. Now we support him and help him back.”

Eddie Howe on the West Ham United challenge tomorrow:

“We want to be closing that gap, they have done well, they are a dangerous team.”

“We are back at home, we left on a good note in our last game against Wolves and we are desperate to carry that on again.”

“This is a home game, expectation will be on us, we will attack the game in the way we know we can.”

Howe on our final 10 league games of this challenging season:

“With these ten games it is an opportunity for us to finish the season strong, we are looking for consistency in results.”

“We are focused on building and finding some positive momentum.”

Such a shame for Miley but next season he will be utilised better and rotated as this season he has played way more than he should have for such rigours is needed for the EPL

Ofc all of us are thinking why not just stick to horses or whatever….

Addiction doesn’t work like that and Tonali’s addiction was betting on football and betting on his team to win each week.

Elliot Anderson sounds like he will make a big challenge in the 10 remaining games. I see big things coming for the young lad, as we know he was the star of preseason only for that injury to his back thwarted his progress. I am convinced that he will make a great comeback and kick on, the lad is a great athlete and strong as an ox by all accounts. He also has the skill set to make it big with us. In a nutshell he has it all. Looking forward to seeing him back in the thick of the action.
