The first club David Moyes played for was his boyhood club Celtic, so he knows all about what passion is in football.
And today he has complimented the Newcastle fans as some of the best fans in the country and expects St. James’ Park to be buzzing today.
Let’s hope along with the buzz, Newcastle can also pick up a much-needed 3 points!
This is what Moyes has said about St. James’ Park and the game today – which is the early KO game at 12:30pm:
“St James’ Park is probably one of the best in the country.”
“Because of the success their team have had over the past year or so, they’ve always been incredibly passionate, but I think they’re probably even more so with what they’re getting.”
“I think it’s a really important game [at St James’ Park on Saturday], as they all are now.”
“I think we have nine to play, I think every game’s going to be vitally important to pick us as many points as we possibly can.”
“There are a few teams chasing in and around the European spots and we’re one of them.”
“We’ve had more games than Newcastle, so I can only comment on ourselves.”
“Has it impacted us? Yeah, it has. I’m sure in some ways it’s impacted Newcastle as well.”
West Ham are 4 points above us in the league, but we have a game in hand so a win for Newcastle today will see us only one point behind the Hammers with a game in hand and a much better goal difference.
We need to pick up as many wins as we can in the final 10 games of the season; let’s hope this one is the first of many.

Comment #2Desperate to be liked Mund? Even an illogical man like you would realise that I wudnt have posted stuff going back to rafa etc if I “wanted to be liked” ! I have enough friends in life without online ones thanks.
Opinionated and happy to throw opinions out there, yes.
And if you don’t like it, just spot the big red Munster rugby flag, and ignore. And by ignore, please don’t comment back.
Simple eh, even for a simple lad from the boro.

You just want the attention
You know the majority of fans can’t stand Casey but all you do is quote the eejit and talk about how knowledgeable he is etc etc…
You are just a twunt and twunts are just twunts

Comment #4I like Craig Hope. He has his hobby horses like all of us and he works for a corrupt newspaper, but he’s alright in my opinion. Eddie’s Bingo done, now off to see my 101 year old father-in-law early. He supports Doncaster Rovers, but his mind has almost gone.

Comment #5Munster you say; Thankfully, unlike some on here, Eddie doesn’t put the injuries down to bad luck and accepts that things need to be looked at.
Seriously… what do you expect him to say when the press ask him the question?
“It’s all down to bad luck so there is no need to check it out at the end of the season”
It’s the same with questions about Tonali, would he say…
“Actually we are all totally pissed off with him, we’ve blown £53M on a player who has hardly played and has probably cost us a CL place. I wish we’d never bought him”
Like all managers, he usually gives the least controversial answers because he knows telling the truth would cause a shed load of criticism.
How can two dislocations, two back injuries, a freak toe injury and an ACL be blamed on the medical team? That’s 6 of our long term injuries.
A shed load of recurring muscle injuries would indicate training and medical issues, but we’ve had no more than our fair share of those this or last season.
Blaming the medical team is an easy cop out of the facts.

Comment #6As I mentioned yesterday, I had a few verses of ‘Blowing Bubbles’ lined up to be performed by various bloggers.
Although I’ve decided it’s safer not to run with it, this verse is innocent enough, so….
I’m forever writing poems
And rhymes I like to share
My best I try, though I make some cry
And lose their shit but I know not why
Fenham’s always bitching, as are one or two
But I’m still here and writing, these rascal rhymes for you

John Anderson said exactly what I have just posted to a caller on the radio who blamed the medical team.
He is an ex player and knows that poor or over training causes muscle injuries and poor physio affects time out or reoccurrence.
Anderson said most of our long term injuries were non muscle, Wilson is a walking sick note, and Tonali has been banned.
Added to the six I mentioned, that’s 8 long term situations that can’t be hung on the medical team.

Comment #10Billion my reflection isn’t about Eddie and the statements he obviously has to make. It’s more about people on here, especially a few weeks back, attributing our injury mess to” bad luck” . Fallacious I’m afraid, just as Eddie has indicated.

Wilson’s chest injury and even Joel’s injury can be added to that list. It’s also contributed to why other players are overloaded and more susceptible to injury.

Eddie howe doesn’t say that. It’s yours and Louise Taylors reading of what he said.
This sounds like him thinking they’ve had bad luck

Comment #13I’ve handed my tickets for today’s game over to a friend who’s son is visiting from Scotland and hasn’t been to SJP before.
I’ll watch it on TV with a wedge of trepidation.
I wasn’t overly impressed by the Wolves performance even though we won 3-0, all three goals were the result of deflections and Wolves were missing some of their best players from the off and then lost Neto with an injury.
WH are capable of taking any team apart on their day, at the moment we aren’t.
In theory, both teams have a massive incentive to win this game.
WH to extend their lead over us and put distance even with our game in hand. We can close the gap to 1pt with a game in hand.
I just have a feeling that WH may be the more determined than us to achieve their aim, I hope I’m wrong.

This is defo a game where we will miss Jo.
WH are a big strong team and we will struggle to muscle them off the ball, especially in midfield.

Comment #16The issue with Hope is not the questions he is asking it’s the repetitive asking of the same questions over and over .
Anyone doing that has either issues or an agenda he is getting the same answer, so why bother asking ?
Is he a bit simple?
Or has he an agenda .

Comment #17Match day finally, been a long wait…
I detest 12:30 kick offs and it appears wor players do too as we rarely get a result although we smashed the mackems the last time we kicked off at 12:30 – West Ham are playing very well of late and will be a big test with the likes of Bowen who I rate very highly. I think it will be a hard fought win maybe by the odd goal today. We need our intensity back and we need Willock and hopefully Anderson to really turn it on and defend from the front. With Paqueta out that is a big positive for us.

Comment #23On the Tonali thing and all the north east reporters saying he wont get a 2nd ban or it will run concurrently with the first one.
Not confident on this at all. It feels like they are just saying stuff to try and change the outcome. Trying to make it sound unreasonable so that the people who decide if he gets banned or not wont actually give him two bans. Really has that vibe about it. Then we wake up in a few weeks and the fkr gets another 5-6 month ban.

Comment #24I’ve no beef with the medical staff as such.
I just get the feeling that we haven’t massively upgraded our treatment facilities as much as the super rich owners could have done.
OK we aren’t still using wheely bins. but where are the hyperbaric chambers etc. equipment that would massively shorten injury time.
These are pedigree athletes and need to be treated as such.

Sandro Tonali’s representatives GR Sports statement.
“It should be noted, in relation to the reports in the English and Italian press, that the ongoing investigation is a due act after Newcastle player Sandro Tonali, decided in October 2023 to self-report to the FA, as he had previously done with the FIGC, in order to clarify his position regarding the betting he had carried out at a time prior to the start of the proceedings in Italy”.
“We are therefore not talking about anything new but simply about recurring facts before the Italian disqualification, which the player voluntarily wanted to bring to light even to the English Federation to put a definitive end to a negative and very painful parenthesis of his life”.
“Sandro Tonali will continue to fully cooperate with the FA as he did with the FIGC and do everything possible to ensure that these proceedings can be resolved as quickly as possible”.

And Tonali is thick as mince.
No way he did not know he was being investigated in Italy and then comes here and starts betting on his own team.
He speaks no English so it’s not like he can walk into betting shop in Grainger Street with the Chinese pros and put 5k on Charlton at 2 to 1. Phone betting and it’s all logged with a tab. As thick as can be. Always going to get found out.
