West Ham were desperate for Harvey Barnes and he chose the toon over them. There is absolutely no doubt in his ability. His 2 goals were so well taken – I’ve a feeling he will really kick on this arson and next in a rampant NUFC side he could be unbelievable. We bought the lad for a reason and was a great signing IMO. He scores for fun and will add 12/14 goals a season easy.

Regardless of the deal with Chelsea I think he has no choice other than to play Hall now. It’s going to have to be BDB and Schar in the middle and trips and Hall either side.

Know where you are coming from more just blind hope from me. This has shown us we need a new keeper. I would like ramsdale, him and pope fighting out for no 1 would be great. Dubs could be 3rd choice though think he will just go and be one of the kids as 3rd place

Definitely Raj the kid has to play left back now, just hope Tino is back if Trips isn’t fit, mind need him back anyway to cover both right and left back and either wing

    simon376,
Ramsdale is the obvious one but didn’t Arteta get rid of him for not having the very qualities we need in a keeper. We need a sweeper keeper and that Georgian lad’s name keeps cropping up.

    Comedy Gold…

It’s a laugh every few seconds on the blog during game time if we are losing.

    Barnes a waste of money.

    EH hasn’t got a clue.

    We are shIt.

    Clueless tactics.

    Sack Eddie.

This is social media the World over…

It gives everyone a platform and the screamers use it to make big shots of themselves by belittling, criticising and whinging to show, supposedly, how all knowing and smart they are.

When actually, as this blog showed yesterday…

Many are as thick as a castle wall.

Maybe so, to be fair I don’t watch enough apart from us and odd Charlton game. Just something about Ramsdale I like, but whatever sure he will be better than Dubs. Always liked him in past but as you pointed out, much to some peoples disgust, I don’t understand them do people not actually watch our games, the rest of the team well defence can’t cope without pope. The defence need his qualities. Mind the defence also need a joelinton type in front of them

    Jail…

I just don’t get this obsession with Pope out being the big reason why we are conceding 3 goals a game so many times.

We are conceding a ton of goals, as we did again yesterday, because teams have realised that our mids and defenders are slow and that balls over the top to quick attackers are the way to open us up.

Pope may have stopped Antonio’s goal because he always stands near the D in his box when the defence are playing a high line – but no matter who is in goal they can’t add pace to the team.

Plus, Botman was nowhere near the player he was early in the season after he came back from injury and that hugely affected our defensive ability + teams started to target Burn and without Jo he had less cover to help him.

Pinning our goals conceded mainly down to Dubs is way off the mark IMO.

I’ve voted Gordon for MoTM as he was unplayable yesterday, he drove us on and never stopped. When we went 1-3 down he was still into them and still was our driving force. We’ve got ourselves a right elite player who will be with us for years. It’s frightening to think he is still only 21. What will he be like when he is in his prime at 25.

He has that winners mentality, the never say die attitude. If we’re to finally win something we need this lad and with Barnes also who is another player who can get a goal out of absolutely nowhere. We are shaping up to have a great squad to attack next season head on. With a strong summer transfer window coming soon. I’m confident that we will have one of the best ever transfer windows.

    – Get a strong young striker (Gyokeres, this kid would be dynamite and can play across the front 3, that’s what we need with rotation next season)

    – Strong athletic DMF (Onana, if we did get him I think Longstaff maybe sacrificed to Leeds to help with FFP)

    – Top young CB (Braithwaite currently worth around £30m – Bit if he has a good euros and he breaks into the England side that could well triple to £90m)

    – another top CB (Diomande or Inacio – if Braithwaite is too expensive then both of them as with the Botman injury we’re gonna need 2 CB’sas we can’t rely on Lascelles and Schar ain’t getting any younger.

    – I don’t feel we need a RW anymore as (a) Barnes and Gordon can play there, I also believe Minteh will be part of our squad next season. Miggy will be sold IMO to fund players coming in.

    – Sweeper Keeper (it has to be Mamardashvili of Valencia, he is like the next Allison of lfc and we know what he brought them)

Huge summer transfer recruitment in coming and that will ensure we have a strong season next season.

i’m with Bill on this one, i don’t think our loss of form has been down to one player in particular but a chain reaction to plays being out or carrying injuries and having to play on, and on some occasions just pure bad luck,

Don’t underestimate the loss of poor has seriously affected our back line and the amount of goals we’ve leaked. Our defence have been getting caught out time and time again with balls over the top where Pope would be in a much better position to clear the danger . I like dubs and has done ok in place of Pope however he doesn’t stand further out his box to clear the balls over the top he stands further back inviting the opposition onto him.

Pope returning can’t happen quick enough and it would be a huge boost to the team. I just pray his shoulder holds out whe he does return as he has 2x operations on the same shoulder now which is a wee bit concerning, hence why we must go for Mamardashvili in the summer, he’d be ideal as we could really push up with that lad sweeping up at the back, a top top shot stopper, great with the ball at his feel with a good distribution and standing at 6ft 7” is a colossus.

Well done to the manager, staff and players for not spitting out a dummy and throwing in the towel like a few on here do whenever events conspire against us.

No easy games with our injury list but beat Everton on Tuesday and we’re sitting just 2 pts behind Man Utd.

    mctoon,

man u were apparently terrible against Brentford, they were very lucky to get the draw…

If we can get a winning run together there is absolutely no reason that we can’t catch them into 6th spot and Europa League. The only thing is all these injuries we’re picking up. It’s relentless right now and sheer bad luck. Aye if we didn’t get that amazing win yesterday I’d have said 8th. But that win will have us on cloud 9 with our tails up and regaining confidence. We’re a much different proposition when we have confidence. In that note in absolutely buzzing for Barnes as he rammed his critic’s crap they were spouting yesterday right back down the back of their throats. Some of the comments on here when we were 1-2 and 1-3 disn were comedy gold. Yiu will probably guess who the perpetrators were. They were an embarrassment yesterday.

    On Gyokeres…

There must be a good few Prem clubs kicking themselves for not signing him from Coventry.

He went to Sporting Lisbon for £19M.

He must have been watched by plenty of Prem clubs and I can only imagine they thought he lacked the ability to strut his stuff in the Prem.

That still might be the case.

I thought Anderson was superb when he came on, he brings physicality which we miss in Joelintons absence.

BlI felt Anderson when he came on hurried things up and moved us forward quickly. Instead of the slow back passing Longstaff likes to do. We need this as we need to be much quicker in moving the ball forward in a game. He needs to start IMO.

Longstaff 90 mins 2/9 duels won
Anderson 25 mins 4/4 duels won

Start him in place of Longstaff against Everton as Longstaff is carrying an injury and needs a break, however, Eddie loves Longstaff as longy brings a certain something to the table that many don’t see, but I really do feel Eddie will act and bring in Anderson.

    Bills,

The first was obviously a definite booking no doubt about it, however, the second was soft. But I do agree that those are the rules re kicking the ball away, although it wasn’t kicked away petulantly where you think why do that.

I think Eddie has worked wonders with Gordon’s overall attitude and I’m sure Eddie will have a wee word in his ear about that sending off. He shall learn from it and especially as it’s against his old team. He will be kicking himself now and I hope there is a lesson learned on the back of this as part of his continuous improvement.

I do not disagree with you about social media, but did you not for even one second think we were going to lose?

Right enough losing is part of playing the game and that is what seems to be lost on a few. But I did get to the point where I had accepted we were not going to win because I was seeing the same factors that have previously appeared. Mainly having the majority of possession and not the technical ability to do something with it.

Which is possibly why the likes of Anderson, Hall and Barnes made such an impact. Which was nice and new to certain extent. I hope Howe can be with us for the long haul and I hope he can improve the more technical player just as much as he has shown he can do with the team he inherited.

One thing yesterday showed was that it’s not as simple as replace Burn with Tino at Left Back as Tino is nowhere near as good on the left as he is at Right Back. I also thought Murphy did quite well at Right Back when moved there so would have no qualms to start him there if Trips is not fit on Tuesday.

I heard it was to do with Eddie’s celebrating the goal but if it was it was petty from the ref. In a game like that after getting the winning goal he ran a bit down the sideline celebrating in front of the home fans, not the away bench nor the away fans. It didn’t seem over exuberant either like you get from klopp and arteta so often. Petty from the ref

    Ndj…

Honestly, even at 3-1 down I had a feeling we could get a result if we scored the next goal.

WH defensively were poor, and Gordon was running them ragged and they couldn’t handle Isak dropping off their CH’s – that was how we got the equaliser.

However, Kudos was having almost the same influence as Gordon and the danger was he would help them go 4-1 which would have been the killer.

It’s been mentioned by Moyes himself, but as soon as Antonio was replaced by Phillips they lost the ability to hoof it up to Antonio – who had held everything up – to relieve the pressure we were creating.

The fact that Phillips gave away a penalty to put us right back in it was a bonus.

Plus, once we equalised I really did think we had a great chance of winning it.

It’s about time we won a 4-3 – I’m still aching from the 4-3 defeat at Lpool in the season we missed out on winning the Prem under Keegan.
