There are many reasons why Eddie Howe is loved by Newcastle fans – even though we are going through a season that’s been completely decimated by unexpected injuries and suspensions.
Eddie Howe is adamant he will continue to play attacking football and the game on Saturday is a case in point – 3-1 down after 47 minutes at home and it looked like all was lost.
But some good changes from the bench and we scored 3 goals in the final 13 minutes of normal time to win the game 4-3.
Poor Villa fans must have wondered what was going on.
This is what Eddie Howe said after Saturday’s game:
“I want a proactive team, we want to attack.”
“You have to accept you may be more open than a pragmatic team. But I believe it is our best chance for long-term success. Entertainers? I prefer another word.”
“Kevin (Keegan)’s team were ‘the entertainers’ – that is their tag. We want our own.”
“We have players coming off injured but the subs made a big difference. This can do a lot for us. We know we can turn games around, that’s positive.”
“I like winning like this, more than winning 4-0. They are moments you remember.”
“We go against Everton and now we can use this energy and confidence, momentum for the rest of the season.”
“We kept our belief. We played well offensively. Our attitude after being 3-1 down was amazing. Great feeling.
With Lascelles now out with an ACL injury through the end of this year and both Almiron and Livramento coming off injured on Saturday, we wonder what the team will be for tomorrow night.
But the fans will be there and another win is what we need – maybe without the late drama – some of us old-timers find the tension hard to take.
🙂

What do you think?

Comment #81The only club which seems to get transfers right all the time is Bin Dippers. Klopps backup team are fantastic.
But even he was prepared to pay 110 million for Caicedo. A joke.
Pep is a great manager and paid a staggering 100 million for Grealish and 40 million for Phillips.
Managers do get it wrong. Even Eddie. Yes even Eddie. He allegedly wanted Phillips do we dodged a bazooka by chance. He has not played two great young fullbacks unless forced and he keeps playing anonymous Longstaff.
But he does plenty right.
The issue for some is that his judgement is infallible and mistakes are contorted into something virtuous

Comment #83As we’re playing the Toffees tomorrow, we’ve had some proper stellar players to have played for both clubs…
Peter Beardsley
Gazza
Big Duncan Ferguson
David Ginola
Gary Speed
Steve Watson
Pistone
Anthony Gordon
I’m going for Beardo as the best to represent both clubs. He is my best player of all time. Young Anthony Gordon has the potential to even beat him if he carries on with his trajectory.

Comment #86Gazza was world class. One of the best in world until the booze got him.
Beardsley was excellent but would never get in world 11. Gazza would.
Beardsley lasted much longer and contributed much more for the Toon.
That’s the choice. Hard one but just on footy ability it’s Gazza for me.
He went to Spuds like Ginola and then Italy.
He ended up at Rangers but the Everton stint must have passed me by

Comment #88God knows how many times I’ve watched that Harvey Barnes strike to win the game on Saturday.
Magical moment.
It seems very ‘Shearesque’.
Hall will I am sure come to the first soon once the financial restrictions are lifted, whatever they are. Him, Barnes, maybe Onana next will add real steel to the team and allow Bruno and Isak in particular to flourish.
Next season is going to be a cracker.
By then the Klopp and Salah factors will have left Anfield
Steve MacLaren or Southgate will be managing ManU.
Pep might even leave City if they are in Division One.
Going to be very interesting and we can dominate, no reason why not.

Aye Gazza played for Everton for a short time mate. Aye it was obviously between Gazza and Beardo for me. But Beardo just pips him, loved Beardo. Mind you I liked all the players in my list. Even pissedone 😉

I take Ginola over Robert. I remember Shearer scored a blinder against Villa?( he scored a beaut v Chelsea) but my all time favourite is Ginolas in Europe where he flips it up from a corner on edge of box and in same movement blasts it into the top of net. Never seen a goal like it

#88 now that’s drinking out the positive energy cup. Exactly how we should be looking at things. This season has been very frustrating, but not once have I been pissed if at any players or the management. They’ve rolled up their sleeves and just on with it and if we win tomorrow we are in a great position to challenge 6th. With our injury crisis, that would be one hell of an effort…
It will do them a world of good to have had the trials and tribulations of this season’s horrible list of injuries, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and I’m convinced we will really bounce back and come off the ropes swinging like Mohamed Ali. Next season will be a swashbuckling season IMO and I cannot wait. However let’s get this season out the way and do a number on man town. They’re ripe for the taking, especially when we roll up to their place and do a number on them. Still all to play for starting tomorrow mate 😉

Comment #95That’s the thing Jmiley, it’s infallibility.
Some were saying the same, that he had primed Joel for midfield. When he hadn’t.
I think the brighter guys on here can see that I’m a fan of Eddie ( I barely miss an utterance from the man) but as with Rafa, nobody is entitled to a non critical analysis.
Eddie himself wudnt expect it.

Comment #99Beardsley is the best player I’ve seen play for Newcastle. Gascoigne was good but not better than Beardsley. I wouldn’t argue against someone saying Gazza though.
We’ve been lucky with some of the players we’ve had at our club down the years.
I remember talking to a makem and, inevitably, we discussed which was the bigger club.
Once I reeled off a load of great players that had played for us compared to them he admitted defeat.

Comment #106I totally appreciate that everyone are allowed an opinion, it’s what western society and democracy is built on. However, when opinions come with a clear and repetitive agenda, that’s where it becomes tiresome and quite frankly boring. Eddie haters either don’t get football or don’t understand all the things what NUFC have had to endure this season. Some are just blinded by their clear as day agenda(s) IMO…
Serious questions for you Munster, just a sincere football questions that I’d be interested you answer as truthfully as possible.
Why would you hate Rafa (apologies all for the mention but it’s warranted here) who was our only HOPE in the darkest of times. When I was at the games the love, appreciation and respect poured out the crowd for Rafa as we know a good man and manager when we see one. He absolutely got us and we got him. OK his football wasn’t great, however when you’re shackled in the transfer window because of not given the money to build on he had to play a certain way. He signed many a good player who are really starting to shine now. Why would you detest the guy so much when he brought his great club so much?
Our worst manager in history Steve Bruce, you seemed to have warmed to this charlatan. A guy who was as much as a proud Geordie as Jordan Prickford. Why did you state that the players would run through brick walls for this insufferable buffoon of a so called professional manager yet slander Rafa…
Talking of slandering. Why would you slander the best possible manager that NUFC could have right now, a man who is the most professional of managers, who has stayed as calm as you like against all this worst injury crisis the club and any other team in EPL history yet could get 6th. Eddie came in and took over a team that has 80% chance of relegation and not only saved us from that fate, he managed to get us as a top3 performing side in the second half and we finished 10th.
Last season, he got us to 4th place and the clubs first UCL qualification in 20 years. Against all the odds.
Can you please explain why you were against Rafa, Howe but yet laud Steve f***** Bruce? Give a good explanation is what’s needed here so I can get my head around why you’re the way you’re on this NUFC blog. As I truly have my doubts about your loyalty to NUFC I’m being brutally honest here.

Comment #108Fenners , my answers wouldn’t sway your opinion of me or what I say, so I cant be bothered. If you tried to sit back and be dispassionate about it you might understand. Similarly if you and I ever have a pint I’ll explain.
Moreover, I have never ever abused anyone connected to you ( except the puppet on your knee ), but you bracket me in a very similar category to him. Totally unfair.
Beyond that you wouldn’t accept my explanations, as I have said, so I’m not sure what the point is.
What I will say is that I don’t need to explain or justify my nufc support to anyone on here, given that I was watching Denis Tuert scoring against us at Wembley. And I’ve been to Millwall, twice 🙂

I wasn’t getting into a war of words, I just was genuinely curious or interested in why you have nothing but bad words for both Rafa and Howe (when they done so much for us) – Then put Steve Bruce on a pedestal (when he hated us and I mean genuinely hated us and was taking us one way and that was down until the Eddie Howe Revolution.)
I give you my points as to why I have great fondness for both Rafa and especially Howe now. As they’ve done fantastic for the club. Don’t forget who attracted Amanda Staveley to NUFC and away from LFC. It was Rafa!!! We have so much to thank both Eddie and Rafa for and we’re not happy clappers just because we have huge respect for what these professionals have did and doing for our great club.
There are 2 people that really go after Eddie Howe on here and it is you and IrishTroll. Huge coincidence that, I’m not saying you are the ItishTroll (that’s Rob) but you seem connected in all your ways and comments. Although you don’t abuse good folk the way it does but you’re just as infuriating and boring with your persistence in bringing negativity and doom and gloom here. Just saying 🙂

What ever your reasons are and are the whole truth and nothing but the truth and swore on the holy bible then I will take it for face value.
I’m honestly genuinely curious why you’d pick faults with 2 great managers and laud a fraud and charlatan. It just doesn’t add up unless you were a WUM. Which makes sense as let’s face it you do openly admit to coming onto this blog just to deliberately annoy and fish for attention. 😉
