Newcastle did everything but win this game last night against Everton, and it could (should) have been out of sight before the 88th minute.
That’s when Paul Dummett committed an unnecessary foul and gave away a penalty, which allowed Calvert-Lewin to score the Toffee’s very late equalizer.
We had gone ahead after just 15 minutes with another superb goal from in-form Isak and we should have added to that total – but had no luck.
It’s really 2 points lost for Newcastle because we should be beating bottom-half and relegation-fighting sides (like Everton) at home.
What do you think?

Comment #2Wasn’t expecting a bus so repost.
Could only half listen to the game last night but have been able to see the extended highlights and they only confirmed my impression o the game.
The starting 11 were good and should have had the game won by the early second half. Pickford (love him or hate him) kept them in the game and we again didnât take some very good chances.
Was it a mistake putting Dummett on, well given what happened , yes. But how can that be predicted, Eddie had confidence enough to play him and it should have been OK, more bad luck?
The team for Saturday is probably going to be a very similar starting 11 but with the welcome return of AG. So we should again be good enough to win, but with the bad luck dogging us, who knows.
I think that Eddie has to be a tad braver in his subs and be prepared to give young Murphy a chance rather than Dummett, although he has always been a solid enough defender but as Craig Hope said he didnât look very confident and a tad fearful, doubt if that would apply to Murphy.
Anyway hereâs hoping weâll have the post WH vibes on Saturday and not last nights.
Right thatâs my twp pennorth.
