Match Cam Video – Newcastle 5 Sheffield United 1

Here is the Match Cam – behind-the-scenes – video,  of our terrific 5-1 win on Saturday at home to Sheffield United.

The win gives us a decent chance of finishing 6th in the Premier League this season and finishing with European football next season.

That’s our goal in the final 4 games of the season.

These videos are always good to watch – especially when we win.

🙂

    Charlie,
100% and if we completely need to change our style to suit Dubs then we need a keeper more like Pope to stand in, we can’t have another repeat of this season in his absence

    Jail
Dubs and Pope to a degree are not the best at being ‘sweeper keepers’
Both their distribution is poor and slow to make up their minds on what to do.
Deffo need another top class keeper

Keeper to come in??? -? Me not up on World football to suggest anyone
Maybe could get Ramsdale but he would want to be No1
Eddie has big decision to make with keepers

Pope is much better than Dubs at being a sweeper keeper. What pope brings the side is that our defence can push up a bit more as Pope always takes up space around the D and beyond where Dubs doesn’t cover anywhere near that. This invites teams into us more.

What Jail says is interesting re clean sheets more with Pope, there could well be a reason for that for sure. We have 2 players missing from our defence which are a huge miss that may have a little bit to do with the amount of clean sheets getting more sparse. Thats Botman and Trippier. Trippier brings so much organisation skills to the back and a fit Botman is a beast. But with Pope out also it was a recipe for a near disaster to letting in so many goals. Teams have sussed this out, SU did on Saturday to an extent.

The sooner we have Trippier, a Botman replacement with bags of pace(Diomande), who would take up the Schar position once Botman is back and rotate with Schar and either Pope back fully fit or we go for that James Trafford or Giorgi Mamardashvili who is a proper sweeper keeper (either would be a top signing but a high cost in the TM). I’d love it to be Mamardashvili though.

    Simon,

    #79 from previous thread…

That post just proves how precious life is. It’s why we all should live life to the full. Nice post it was but at the same time points out how fragile life is. Keep your chin up mate and I’m glad you’re getting to the games as much as possible. The sport definitely is deep rooted in your family.

The votes take place on the anchoring idea to make the EPL more of a level playing field. Will the cartel put a block on this happening?

I’m not sure if anything put in place by the PL is a goer if it doesn’t fall in line with UEFA.

    Good Morning All

Fenham i said on here about 2 months ago we should go for young James Trafford, he is a superb young keeper and a tremendous prospect, and for some unknown reason he is out of favour at Burnley at the moment!! He has played for all the England under age teams in the past also mate.

Good link that Hibbet has put up #47. I’ve been going into Durham a lot since I moved back up north and spent time in DH1 which is close to the city centre and New Brancepeth in County Durham….

In all the times I’ve been there I’ve not noted one sunlun top, not one. All I’ve seen are the toon tops. I wonder if it would have been 50/50 10 years ago? I’m not sure as I’ve never really ventured into that area back then so no idea. Right that’s me off back to graft after a nice week off last week.

    Magic,

#50 good shout from you then mate, Trafford is out the picture at Burnley but not for long as their keeper has made 2 huge ricks. But what a top understudy to Pope Young Trafford would be. They have that Burnley connection and may know each other from when Pope was there? It wouldn’t surprise me at all if we went for the young lad?

Jail if it’s passed it would give us a platform to work on and show the so called big six the depth of feelings among the other 14 clubs,
but like you i think if UEFA wont accept it and block it, it’s then dead in the water and the big six win again ,

Never looks that imposing in his box.
    Bit of a Freddie Woodman.

When we were previously looking a keeper under the new ownership, i was possibly the only one on the blog who said we should go for Nick Pope, when loads of other keepers were being mentioned, including Dean Henderson, well Pope has proven to be a masterstroke mate, young James Trafford could possibly be another masterstroke in the future, he will only get better with youth on his side also Fenham mate.

I’m not sure UEFA can block it entirely but they could block individual teams, that don’t meet their psr rules, from entering their competitions. So not sure how that would benefit us.

Just seen on the bbc website that we are 3rd in the form table, for the last 6 games, with 13 points, Palace are 6th with 10, so could be a tricky game.

Have to agree with you on that one. Trafford has some good shot stopping, but i’m sure he’s made a few clangers this season too and doesn’t look imposing or commanding.

Does give me Woodman vibes. I was convinced Woodman would be ours and Englands future number 1 for ages.

If we’re seriously looking at a keeper don’t think we r to b honest but if we r then I wud put a wee cheeky bid in for Caoimhín Kelleher no2 gk at Liverpool, good shot stopper, good sweeper keeper and good with his feet. Could maybe get him for 10million that wudn b bad business and he’s still young.

That is true but there’s going to b big changes at Liverpool this summer with klopp going and new manager coming in, they’ll b an unsettled club, players coming in and out so a wee cheeky bid wouldn’t do no harm. Who knows there new manager might not fancy him and let him go.

If it’s true that Stefan Ortega wants to leave to pursue more first team football (Big IF), I think he’d be a great signing.
Love Nick Pope, who’s been immense for us but if we were to be ruthless, Ortega would be an upgrade in my eyes.

He’s never looked out of place or inferior to me when standing in for Ederson.
The epitome of a ‘sweeper keeper’, although 31 (it’s not old for a keeper) he’s still a few months younger than Nick.
So he would give us the same length of service as Nick, whilst we sort out a younger keeper for the future.

Problems being, does he really want to leave (especially when he’s guaranteed silverware even as a back-up), plus there could be a lot of competition for his signature and what kind of wage is he already on at Man City?

    On keepers,
Dubravka is a very good deputy to Pope. Pope is the best keeper we’ve ever had, as far back as I can remember.

For both, upgrades would mean Ederson territory, ie the very best. My only concern on Pope, will he be as brave as before?

On CFs, Wilson and Isak have deadly stats, the pair of them. But, remember it was either one or the other or even both injured. Can Wilson stay in one piece? If yes, sorted.

I think we should definitely bring in an 18 year old rough diamond, we can’t risk it again. He’ll learn with the very best, even contribute when we’re leading 5-1, say, in a match. And, he’ll come on, a la Miley, when both Isak and Wilson are crocked.

I still think our number one priority is an Eze type* or even Eze himself.

    * You’re probably thinking this guy, me that is, had been banging on for a Silva, now it’s all Eze? I could elaborate with my answer but the short end is, “yes” 🙂

Does this transfer market thing get it right or is it speculation? I mean could we really buy this Eze for like 41 million?

If so, CL next year sorted!

    Blog meet update.
Just rang Shearers. They’re open at ten, I asked him about getting a table and he said it’s unlikely we’ll get a table at 12:00 unfortunately. I told him what the other guy said and he said he’s new and SHU was his first home game, he was just guessing about getting a table at 12:00 so we probably won’t get a table but we’ll definitely be able to get John J a seat, he reckons there’s a queue from one of clock, I can’t ever remember queuing to get in there mind. Any hoo, we can’t be expected to be there at ten o clock so if everyone can just get there when we can and play it by ear.
