Match Cam Video – Newcastle 5 Sheffield United 1

Here is the Match Cam – behind-the-scenes – video,  of our terrific 5-1 win on Saturday at home to Sheffield United.

The win gives us a decent chance of finishing 6th in the Premier League this season and finishing with European football next season.

That’s our goal in the final 4 games of the season.

These videos are always good to watch – especially when we win.

🙂

Shearers upstairs usually has tables – don’t know if you have to book well in advance.
If cannot get a table upstairs is more often than often quiet with standing room

    Hibbit…

The Mag stats have got one wrong…

We haven’t scored nine goals in 9 different matches.

In fact, not even once 🙂

    Trafford 6’4”.
    Unbelievable Jeff!
Dubs hesitates coming off his line. Too often he makes a move forward and then goes back. Don’t want anymore of that.

I am hoping to show my face at Shearers.
How will we know where the blog group is?
Answers on a postcard but no funnies please, it’s a family show!
Will need a photo or 2 that can be sent to Ed, so he can put it on the blog. Anyone opposed to that? There’s no hiding behind a keyboard once that’s put up.

It’s been reported by Craig Hope who seems to believe he has an exclusive that Trippier is out in Dubai with our strengthening coach and is looking to get back for the Brighton game.

As it’s Mr Hope I don’t know, but if he’s right I’ll be happy to see Tripps back for the last 3 games of the season we’ve definitely missed his leadership. For me it’s one of the few reasons as to why our defence is leaking goals more since his injury. Once he is proved fit he is an absolute show in immediately, we need his experience and like I said leadership qualities for the run in.

Is this to stop the Mackems from escaping or to stop people from straying in ?

LNER said it would no longer run from Sunderland to London Kings Cross from December, with the service instead starting in Newcastle.

The operator said the service had low passenger numbers since it was introduced in 2015 and passengers could still travel to London using other companies.

    From Transfer News Live:

“ Manchester United are prepared to sell most of their squad this summer – including the likes of Marcus Rashford.

Rising stars like Hojlund, Garnacho and Mainoo are the only ones NOT FOR SALE”

You can keep your squad. Not one of their so called stars makes Eddie’s team as I don’t see any evidence that they would fit the criteria for character, professionalism, ability.

    Fenham,
We started shipping goals waaaay before his injury in March, the goals started getting shipped after the Man U game and Pope’s injury.

In fact, in the 9 games after his injury we have conceded 10 goals, we conceded 17 in the nine before that, there’s been something off with Trips for awhile now, since he came home early from the England camp for personal reasons.

    Jail,

I know mate it’s why I said one of the reasons. The main reason for me through was Popes injury. It just goes to show how important the GK position is to the team. Out of all the ones coming back I want Pope and Joelinton back the most.

As Keith Patterson says let’s see what comes of the anchoring after the first hearing which has been passed by recommended requirements. Not to the AGM…

Do you think we’ll see Pope risked this season, the official PL site has him due back against Burnley?

    Jail,

I honestly don’t know, as we know we’ve leaked a whole load of goals since picking up his injury. For me it’s not just a coincidence so it’s imperative we get him back. However, there is that risk involved. Also ring rusty, does Eddie take the risk of putting Pope between the sticks for both those reasons. Dubravka hasn’t let us down he has pulled off some really important saves to keep us in games, however he doesn’t command his box anywhere near Pope. Eddie will have a huge decision to make which could really make or break the season in the last throws. Eddie knows best and whatever he goes with I just hope it’s the right one.

I’d be surprised if Eddie did take a risk on Pope even if he is fit especially as the season end is so close.

Premier League clubs have agreed in principle to introduce a spending cap. season 25/26

A majority of clubs voted in favour of the spending cap, which will be determined by the amount of money earned in television rights by the lowest-earning club in the Premier League.

If approved at June’s AGM, the new model will replace the Profit and Sustainability Regulations presently used from the 2025-26 season onwards.

The league’s current financial rules, which have seen Everton and Nottingham Forest penalised six and four points respectively this season, have been criticised for favouring clubs with the highest revenue.

The new model is being referred to as “anchoring”.

    More to follow.

Don’t think Pope should be risked at all. Maybe the friendly against Spuds at the end of the season, give him 45 minutes. But that’s it. No need to risk him.

I hope we can get our heads round this dreadful away form, Burnley is definitely not the pushover it was around six weeks ago, they’ve had a proper resurgence and more than a decent chance of staying up.

Mad how Isak hasn’t managed to get a hat-trick for us yet. Think the commentators at the weekend mentioned nobody has scored a hat-trick for us since Ayoze Perez back in 2019, which is hard to believe too when you consider how many Wilson has for us.

Can’t be long until Isak breaks that drought.

Only 2 behind Haaland for top scorer too, no reason he can’t catch and overtake him!

It is understand that 16 clubs voted in favour of the new guidelines, with Chelsea abstaining,
with the three dissenting votes coming from Manchester City, Manchester United and Aston Villa.

Villa voting against is to now allow us to really overtake them in being able to flex our financial might…

They clearly don’t have the means to make the difference like NUFC will if it’s passed and brought in. They’re clearly happy with plodding on as they’re. Ok I’m guessing here but it’s the only thing gay makes sense keeping NUFC in touching distance.

    Jail,

See below what I’ve just picked up explaining anchoring:

“”The new anchoring move would see EPL clubs ALL limited to spending a proportion of the amount the bottom club received in TV money. It is the first time ever a cap would be introduced to the Premier League, and the vote will now go to an AGM before it is potentially passed.

The idea behind the proposals is to ensure the league remains competitive, with clubs set to be assured over the cap not causing any reduction on spending from their current levels.

Based on last season, the key figure would be the £103.6million that Southampton – the bottom club – earned from TV and commercial revenues. That would then be multiplied by whatever amount is agreed on and everyone else would have to keep their wages, amortised transfer fees and payments to agents below that figure.””

So, A step in the right direction IMO…Hopefully it will create a level playing field and league where all the teams can compete on equal terms rather than the slimy 6 only sat at the table. NUFC new direction is towards finding the new up and coming superstar and get the academy up to speed to be self sufficient, then adding a bit of flavour from elsewhere.
