Here is the Match Cam – behind-the-scenes – video, of our terrific 5-1 win on Saturday at home to Sheffield United.
The win gives us a decent chance of finishing 6th in the Premier League this season and finishing with European football next season.
That’s our goal in the final 4 games of the season.
These videos are always good to watch – especially when we win.

Comment #241Just watched the highlights again and have a couple of observations:
1. Well done BDB for keeping us in it.
2. What a cracking pass by Murphy for the first goal. Right on the money.
3. Excellent assist by Barnes. 5 players around him then a lovely dinked pass to Wilson.
4. Great tackle by young Murphy that was kinda overshadowed by the penalty shout

Comment #242Time for these spending limits to be challenged in the courts I think.
Only way to get rid.
Was thinking re Anchoring. Say spending limit 550 Million.
Man Utd can pay that.
City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea likewise.
Then us.
Then Qatar buy a team.
Then the Sultan of Brunei say.
Then some Indian Multi Billionaire.
You’ve then got half the league able to spend the 550.
An even playing field.
Problem is that some of these Multi Billionaires won’t like it. Only happy if they are getting their own way and calling all the shots. Like the Russian at Chelsea for many years. Then the UAE people at City. Only successful while they had all the money and an unfair advantage.
Some of them won’t like spending all that money to be 6th. They will be off to do something else.

Comment #243I’m not sure how we can take anything away from Ashworths ability or what he’s put in place here just because he’s a slimy barsteward. You only have to look at the amount of appointments we started to make after his arrival, SW scout, NW scout, top youth coaches coming in, world wide scouting networks. I’m not sure how all that can be disputed.

Comment #250Anchoring doesn’t help us spend more at all.
All it does is stops the gap between rich and poor getting bigger by limiting the clubs with very large revenues to a player spend of 4.5 times the lowest tv revenue. So as city and manus revenues grow they won’t be able to spend it all on players.
Our revenues are half theirs so the anchor cap is way above what we can spend based on 70% of revenues.
It’s still all about growing revenues for us.

Comment #251If a club can’t spend all of it’s revenue on players, wages and transfers what do they spend the excess on.
Declare a profit, pay tax, dividend to shareholders.

Maybe try and get on in the Centurion before you leave, it’s a lovely looking pub and a nice pint of Atlantic pale ale.

IF we can get close to the revenue required to be able to spend up to the cap then we will really come into our own if we can keep wages down!
Our annual wage bill is close to £100m
Man Utd £250m
Man City £220m
So it’s no wonder those team are against it especially when you add agent fees into the mix!
IF these new rules come in I think everyone will stop buying as many (finished article) players because they demand high wages & go more down our line of signing hot prospects that start on lower wages that rise with their valuations!
Just my musings on it in hope we benefit! 😉

Just watched a YouTube video from a Chelsea fan complaining about Newcastle united being allowed to spend 500 million if the new FFP comes into act 25/26 season.
What an utter DkWeed entitled little fkwad.
Chelsea have spent how much over the years, poor lad having to watch his shit team with their billion squad do shite most of the season.

Comment #268The cartel have had it their own way for 25 years. In fact it was Manu, Liverpool and Arsenal plus new dodgy Russian money Chelski. They loved it when it was just the 4 of them. CL every season, happy days. Then Spurs started getting their act together financially so they started to muscle in, followed by City who have royally fecked over the lot of them. I love City for doing that. Win everything and watch those feckers implode.
All those fans have been brought up to expect glory on an annual basis. Us and Villa are not wanted. Feck the lot of them because despite all the hurdles put in our way by the cartel, we will get there. So that will be 7, perhaps 8 if Villa can keep growing. But only 4 CL spots. So half miss out every year. So players will not just jump into bed with the cartel 6 as there are no longer guarantees of CL football every season. So this should provide a more level playing field at the top end of the PL. But only once our revenues get closer to theirs. I think the whole thing could be challenged legally as it’s completely anti competitive. But when we get there just watch those entitled feckers bleat.

Comment #270What Ashworth has done to us is very similar to Brighton, he was with them for 3 years before coming to us and with us for 2 years before leaving.
It’s just the nature of football, players and staff come and go.
It’s a bit harsh to say he has done nothing of note though, otherwise why would we have needed to get him in at all.
I imagine he has put a lot of work in behind the scenes that will have a positive effect for many years to come.

Comment #271Macas, you are correct. These guys cudnt praise him enough until he decided that making man u a serious player again was worth it, and a payrise too.
Bonkers way of looking at it but that’s how some view the world, through a very narrow prism.

Comment #273Aye I don’t get the comments that say Ashworth has done nothing for us.
What, we’ve just been paying him the last 2 seasons to sit around and twiddle his thumbs?
Of course he’s done a lot for us.
“Ashworth will be responsible for Newcastle’s “overarching sporting strategy, football development and recruitment at all age levels”, the club said. ”
That’s what was said by the club when he joined us.
So yes, foundations will have been put in place under his tenure here. The youth team recruitment that’s seen a big overhaul will be largely down to him and his overlook. With them being based on our football development and sproting strategy as well. He’s put a scouting system in place working alongside Nickson, there’s been no end up staff recruitments that have taken place since he joined, which is one area he’s known for across all his jobs; staff recruitment.
He said it himself, he see’s himself as the central cog that helps put all the gears together to make sure they all work together.
Look, I think he’s a bit of an asshole the way he’s leaving and fairly soon. But there’s no denying he’s incredibly highly regarded in his field (or else we wouldn’t have got him in the first place) and clearly he will have done a lot of good work for us.
To suggest otherwise just comes across as sour grapes.
