Alan Shearer Talks About Newcastle’s New Superstar – “He’s Been Absolutely Magnificent”

Newcastle icon Alan Shearer has been talking about Newcastle’s new superstar Alexander Isak, who has scored 23 goals in all competitions for Newcastle this season.

Hopefully, the 24-year-old Swedish International has got over the niggles that have kept him out of the side, and currently, he’s on a long and successful run starting at center-forward.

Nobody is better qualified than Alan Shearer to talk about Isak, and this is what he said on this week’s The Rest is Football podcast:

“He’s a very, very good player,” “He’s a modern-day forward – you know the trend now of saying forward and not centre-forward, well he’s a brilliant example of that.”

“He’s had one or two injuries this season, but while he’s been on the pitch he’s been absolutely magnificent.”

“He’s brilliant at running in behind because he’s quick, and once he’s away you’re not catching him.”

“He’s also very clever at coming short and dragging defenders in with him, therefore leaving space in behind.”

“He’s a very clever, intelligent player and he’s got great ability.”

“They’re sat on a great asset and it would be absolutely bonkers if Newcastle, for whatever reason, sold him in the summer.”

“It’s really difficult to get goalscorers and he is one of the best, and they love him and rightly so.”

“You know what it’s like up here in Newcastle, if you score goals then you’re going to be adored, and the fans adore him.”

Don’t be surprised if Newcastle offer Isak a new improved contract this summer, we must keep our best players at the club.

Comments welcome.

    Yep
Been reading all over the net about this guy and Bruno.

Arsenal fans want them, even City fans.

I hope we can hang on to them and Gordon too, though I think he isn’t a worry.

I know that most everyone is on sale for a price, even by the biggest teams, but we have to start building a super team some time.

Maybe now is the time. We now have some untouchables, (and I accept we could be “ruthless” and that means most everyone can be sold) our Brazilians, Isak and Gordon.

Selling our crown jewels is not how we claim top prizes and give advantages to competitors.
Next season is the big one for Top 4 , maybe more.
No one goes anywhere that’s important to our master plan.

But I came here for something else!

I’ve watched a little bit of Burnley. Due to their coach’s approach, and may I add the Bellamy factor, they insist on playing open, attractive football. It’s been to their detriment but they can give anyone a game. Played Chelsea for ages with ten men, comfortably drew that. Drew Manchester, West Ham recently. Beat Sheffield away 1-4.

What I’m trying to say, this won’t be easy.

But like someone said, better playing them than most others.

It has to be three points or at least one. Because next is Brighton, who regularly outplay us and then Man U, our “cup final”. Would I take four points out of those two games? What do you think?

    Stay cool.

    Breaking news!

Man does job that he gets paid for

    The End

Nobody is saying he has done nothing as he clearly has but what has he done of note? He did a job he was paid for but won’t ever be remembered for it other than being a rat.

As soon as someone else wanted him he was off without a blink and is now wanting to take us to arbitration to get out of a contract he willingly signed.

Good riddance and I’m glad he was weeded out so soon

Im up for the blog meet, i will probably start in the Centurian, nice pub and they do a canny pint.

So the club are staying put with the stadium, im over the moon with that, it`s such an iconic site in the middle of the city, a one off really, tis why it is voted the best away day in the PL.
Our owners aren`t idiots, im sure they are confident they can make enough revenue to satisfy their goals and a 60k+ stadium on the current site will be an unbelievable experience for anyone going to the game.
Thing is, just how much exactly is the + over the 60K ?
Arsenal and Spuds built their new grounds with just over 60K in mind, it seems to be the best way to go finacially, and obviously satisfies their financial goals, so why can it not work here.
Iv`e no doubt there will be more corporate tickets available, which i think will lesson the atmosphere unfortunately imo, but at the end of the day we are staying put, in our home.
Tbh, there were vey few options for relocation when you weighed everything up,unless of course you had the racecourse in mind, which is well out of the way.

There’s a reason why the best football stadiums are circa 60k capacity. No fans are too far from the pitch, the atmosphere is good and there will always be excess demand for tickets vs supply.
So I’d be happy with 62k.
Let’s see the plans for a redeveloped SJP before we judge, but I’m struggling to see how we can have a state of the art multi purpose world class stadium just tagging bits on to SJP.
The stands just don’t work for football. Anyone who has been on level 7 will testify to that.
The article doesn’t explain why the Leazes park option has been ruled out.
Anyway, none of us have answers or the plans. We just have to wait and then take a view once we have the details.
I’m hoping we get to see the vision of the new SJP this summer. It’s important for fans that we get to share that vision at the earliest opportunity and then let the anticipation build.

Sunderland AFC are pushing ahead with plans to downsize their stadium to a capacity of 30,000.

It is hoped that longer term, Sunderland will be able to fill the smaller stadium.

The reduction in running costs will assist the club in staying viable.

    Sunderland’s a massive club…

Does anyone know if there are plans for any safe standing areas in the stadium upgrade? Would be a class way to generate some atmosphere

I suppose if they are adding the stack before the game and also increased numbers that will generate a lot of money

One thing they could do though is more toilets!! Was at Sam Fender last year and the toilet situation was a nightmare poor lassies had a nightmare trying to get into a toilet

Interestingly Burnley might be the perfect team for us to play they like to mess about with the ball at the back watch the goal they concede against Man utd last week

They do that stuff all the time perfect for our high press

If our away form had been shite since the TO then you could put it down to the huge variance in the atmosphere in SJP and on the road, but it wasn’t shite last season so that’s that theory debunked. You could put it down to injuries but it wasn’t great before they started racking up, it seems nobody can put their finger on it.

Howe praised Ashworth for resisting the temptation to change too much too fast. “Dan let the structures that were in place exist and survive and we’re still working the same way that we were in the first transfer window [which predated Ashworth’s arrival],” he said. “Our recruitment has been very good.16 Feb 2024
