Will Newcastle Beat Burnley Away On Saturday?

Newcastle have only 4 league games to go this season and at the moment we are in 7th place just behind Manchester United, but we have a much better goal difference.

Premier League Table 2023-2024

PositionTeamPlayedWonLostDrawnGDPoints
5Tottenham38201261366
6Chelsea38181191463
7Newcastle38181462360
8Man United3818146-160
9West Ham38141310-1452

Last time out at home we were up against the bottom-of-the-league side Sheffield United but we did not look good in that first half and a better side could have been three goals up with the chances Sheffield created against a slumbering Newcastle side in the first half.

This week it is second-bottom Burnley who are only 2 points behind 4th-bottom Nottingham Forest and safety.

We must start this game on the front foot and we cannot have another first half like last Saturday!

With Nottingham Forest 9 points behind 5th bottom Brentford, it’s any three from four for relegation with Luton Town 3rd bottom.

If we take our home style to Burnley I’d be confident. If we just sit in like we have done on more than one occasion on the road this season then we could just be adding to our abysmal away record ( this term.) Having said that, Burnley have to go for it so could be a lot of space on the counter for our front 3.

Rotonda it’s just Mund making noise as usual re Ashworth. To deny that he hasn’t put structures and personnel and players in place is just for the birds. Bitter nonsense and noise essentially. We may not wish him well on his way out the door, but that’s a different kettle of fish. I’m afraid ours isn’t the only “project” in the world.

I’d love to see the Derby games back!!

In fact I’d love to see more with Boro and the Heed in the mix eventually!

Although it would help if the Heed were allowed to be promoted!

If you can spell Tosin’s surname you get a free pint (from Magic) at the next blog meeting!

    Ok, nobody won.

Looks like Ipswich coming up, because Huddersfield, their next opponent, will need to score like 12 goals to beat the drop. So they’ll get the needed point.

Now, the battle for third spot is going to be a good one. A bit unfair mind. The sixth team, WBA, could conceivably come up even though they will have gained as many as 21 points less than the third team, Leeds!

Going to watch the game tonight with a couple of people, one a Spurs fan, the other Chelsea. I’d love it if they split the points. I’m kinda concerned about a potential Chelsea upsurge.

Must say, I can’t see why some are making such a song and dance about Ashworh jumping ship. Disappointing yes, not very professional on his part but and unfortunately, such is the real world and business must carry on.

Calling him a rat and the like is childish, to say the least.

Lochinvar. Not sure MA jumped ship but he did do the best thing during his time here, that is sell up and leave.
Despite that ,I would still call him something a lot worse than a rat.

I’d like to see them go out of business and disappear.
    Sadly they won’t.
Every time they go broke someone steps in looking to pick up a bargain.
The Drummerville Group, then Ellis Short then this latest one.

Dodgy lot. They even started foot and mouth and tried to blame us for it.

Just popped on for a quick read and heard the Tonali news, very good indeed.
Maybe he will eventually get the chance to show what he can or can`t do, time will tell.
Glad the kid isn`t getting a ban extension, it must of been frustrating for him not playing.

Good news for Tonali…but they did make it suspended instead of concurrent with his current one so hopefully he stays clean and nothing else is found out as it seems it leave the door open for them to apply it if so. Anyway…good to hear and I am sure all are glad this is almost past.

All these early irons in the fire are also good to hear as well. Any player having thoughts of leaving with everything coming together for an even brighter preseason than this one would be nuts.

Sounds like Tonali has hopefully let the demons out and ready to play his game with nothing holding him back. Looking forward to that!

As acknowledged by the FA in the independent Regulatory Commission’s written reasons, the level of assistance Sandro has provided by self-referring and fully cooperating with a subsequent investigation is extraordinary and unprecedented.

Sandro made full admissions as to his betting activity, and did so in circumstances where there was no other evidence to support misconduct proceedings.

Im hoping Spuds will be desperate for 4th place and pick up max points tonight but i can`t see it, i think Chelsea will be breathing down our necks for the rest of the season , i just hope we can hold them off.
I wanting a Spuds win tonight, totally against the grain for me normally, but needs must, but Spuds have been poor lately.

I’m sure Quinny had left us by time Kelly scored that goal against Portsmouth. Funny story about Quinn, was a Wednesday night game, think I was about 16 and in players lounge after game. My mam and dad came to pick me up. Walked up and spoke to security at lounge door, said about me in there and being Gavin’s realities, so somehow got let in. Micky came along sat beside my mam talked to her for ages and as he left kissed her cheek. She said to me, he seems a nice lad, who is he. I said that is Micky Quinn. She said no idea who that is but nice person. Not sure if it was the game where Lee Clark would have scored first ever goal but Quinn knocked it over the line. Gav said he always does that nobody has a chance

For anyone who may have thought that Tonali had a flawed character because of his gambling addiction. The FA credit Tonali for self-reporting the breaches, and say the only evidence they had is the player’s own admissions.

Despite his poor judgment here when he let the gambling addiction engulf him, he most definitely seems like a really good kid with a problem that got out of control. Better to take the hit of the 10 months ban and clean up his issue rather than the problem having worsened. Kudos to Sandro for that and actually shows us the lads character is good.

Wish him the best and can’t wait to see him back on the pitch as I strongly believe he will have a huge impact in next season’s standings, he will now play with the weight of the world lifted from his young shoulders. He is now free to do his thing and he will be part of a lethal MF force next season and beyond.

Can you make it past a day without name dropping me…?

What was it you said about being obsessed…?

So what you and RH are saying is Ashworth did the job he was paid for…? Shock!!!

He is a weasel and the majority will remember him as a rat and rightly so.

    RH

I think you might want to give Nickson a lot of credit as well for those names and maybe just maybe get all facts right about what he has done and hasn’t.

Strange the few names who want to defend the rat but there’s always a few who want to be different

The same people defending him are the same people who shot abuse at him for a underwhelming window last summer as well as putting the blame on him for Tonali…

    Short sighted agendas

Howay man, Tonali’s probably been advised to cough up to betting before he was accused of it.
