Eddie Howe – Tough Start But Then Newcastle Performed Really Well

Eddie Howe was interviewed after the game by nufcTV and he was his usual calm matter-of-fact self – as Howe is after all games – win lose or draw.

Very much like Rafa Benitez after games.

Howe admitted that the first 10 minutes at Turf Moor was tough going, but the defense was solid, and after that, Howe thought Newcastle performed really well.

Aye, fans that want a manager sacked, I went on about Bruce the same way you did about Howe, that is because I didn’t want Bruce within a 100 miles of the club. You do not carry on the way you did if you’re not wanting him sacked.

I’m as hard core a fan as you short boy. So I don’t need your advice on loyalty or support, thanking you. I was supporting our lads on a hand held transistor radio when keegan was scoring on his debut. I have without a doubt been to far more grounds than you so I don’t need your sermon. Crack on though like you did about ffp not being an issue , or us not being in a relegation fight, with everyone laughing at your stubborn stupidity.

    You still haven’t told

You still havent told me about the grounds you have been to, in support of nufc, like I have.

    Will we start?

And remember, you live in England, I only did for a few years.

Jail, the only reason I “carried on” is because I waste my time arguing the toss with guys like you. Therefore it looks like I’ve a deep conviction about it. I’d be better off ignoring a few on here and just talk to the normal guys. I might have to start that. Thankfully there’s more than you, parrot , and health and safety bore on here.

O don’t think its as black and white as that with hall and Burn. I think Burn is looking good not just because he prefers cb but because he’s fully fit after breaking his back.
The whole defence has made mistakes at times which is understandable with the changing personel due to injuries. If Burn went back to LB I’m confident he’d be better than he was earlier in the season.
It’s well documented that Eddie and his team were working on Hall’s defensive play and would need to also get Eddie fit and learn the team plays.
Imagine if he’d thrown him in when the team was struggling and he made a couple if clangers. It could have screwed him right up being a young lad with not much experience.

To be fair you would have expected Burnley as the home team to have a right go at the start of the game. We weathered the storm well although we were fortunate not to give away a penalty with Bruno – I don’t think it’s a penalty but you see them given.
Once we scored the first goal they seemed to collapse and we took control of the game. I have to say I think Burnley are suffering because of their manager’s stubbornness. If they stopped trying to pass out from from the back and played more long balls they would do better and concede less goals – they were hurting us at the beginning with their long balls but when they started playing out we kept winning the ball off them!!

Was it not reasonable for some fans to have some concerns when we were going through a patch that was rivalling Bruce, ie losing to Luton and getting stuffed at home by Chris Wood? Thankfully we’ve come through that dark period, but being temporarily dissatisfied is a long way from wanting someone sacked.

Mund you have differentiated my support based on perceived lack of loyalty. As an answer to this, I have asked you to show me the grounds that your loyalty has brought you to.

Because ive been to a whole pile of shitty places. That’s loyalty. Not asking or stating that I think a manager has made errors. Those are opinions.

You need to learn to communicate and reason better.

You’re not really a teacher are you?

    Mund,

Eddie will coach your average player to play well above average. Eddie can coach a good player to be the very best in their position.

Eddie definitely has that Midas Touch and players must love playing for him. All players talk amongst each other at different clubs and in international duty. Eddie’s stock is rising all the time and more and more elite players will want to be coached/managed by him. We’re unbelievably lucky and privileged to have him as our manager. The Eddie haters will always end up with egg on their sad faces.

Jail, a good football question re Wilson. I was amazed to see Wilson start so only time will tell. I have a feeling Eddie fancies Isak off centre because of his skills, with a new striker ( or Wilson for now ) taking up the centre. I’d hold on to Wilson if he wants to stay, even at the risk of injuries. He’s an elite finisher.

You’ve been a fan for many years so you know football and you should know that these things happen. You pointed out some difficult games which we should have been a lot better in and rightly so. I agree and Eddie and the players would agree most certainly agree.

The point being it’s never always rosy and we should know that more than most however the biggest factor in those difficult periods was the injuries that has had a massive effect on our season. Top of the injury table and by a margin should back that however it doesn’t tell the full story as our squad depth was shocking and we had 2 GK’s on the bench for a lot of games sat with youngsters who have never made a first team debut. That has been the knock on effect that’s caused a disjointed season…

With all that just look at how we could possibly finish which is incredible when you think and you weigh the season up so far and not only that but the free scoring season we are having and the likes of Gordon being on another level and so far having 10 goals and 10 assists which hasn’t been done by a player in a black and white shirt since Ruel Fox and then Isak scoring 20 PL goals which hasn’t been done since Shearer 20 years ago…

Taking all that into account it’s turned out better than anyone could of imagined at one point and huge credit goes to Eddie and his team and the incredible lads with who pull on the shirt for achieving this so far.
