Our Man Of The Match At Burnley – An Underrated Player

There were some good performances yesterday at Burnley in the 4-1 win but our top man and Man of the Match is Jacob Murphy with 34% of the vote.

Guimaraes and Gordon are second and third respectively in the voting.

The percentages are low because so many of Newcastle’s players had good games in a spirited team performance.

Jacob is one of the many players who have listened to Eddie Howe, trained hard, and become a better player under Howe’s expert guidance.

And Jacob’s contract at Newcastle still has three years to run through June 2027.

He has played 174 times for Newcastle with 11 goals and 18 assists – and he had two excellent assists yesterday.

Murphy had an excellent game for Newcastle at Turf Moor yesterday and deserves to be our Man of The Match.

WL I remember Nattrass and Kennedy. Wasn’t Tommy Craig a full back too? Liked Nattrass a lot although only saw him a bit on the TV . Overlapping full back, skilful quick , good cross on him?

    Tommy Craig was midfield mate.
Slightly later than Kennedy and Nattrass.
Played in the final in 76.

Ah, think you mean Davey Craig.
Frank Clark left back and Davey Craig right back.

Sadly Craig was injured just before the cup final in 74.
Really hit us in a negative way.

Tommy Craig played as a midfielder for Newcastle mate, perhaps you were thinking of David Craig who played full back at Newcastle back in the day?

There was also Tommy Cassidy from our neck of the woods who was a midfielder.

This is what you get when clubs interview managers with the current one still in situ.
West Ham’s seasons done and dusted they ain’t playing for Moyes anymore, what would be the point.
It’ll probably go to the wire for Europa placing’s, but I fancy the mentality of our players and leadership of our manager, way more than that of Chelsea or Man U, when it comes to the crunch.
If the fans hold their nerve, pretty sure this group of players will.

Chelsea playing with real intent at the moment and pose us the most danger, Manure have a tough run of fixtures, add to the fact they will be possibly be distracted by the forthcoming FA Cup final.

    Fond memories of Tommy Cassidy.
Sadly he is struggling these days I think with illness.

Heard Tommy talking on a phone in one time as I made the long drive home after a working week away.
Tommy was Newcastle through and through. When he signed for Newcastle it was a difficult time over in Ulster.
Tommy was able to bring several family members with him to the North East.
Lord Westwood fixed his Dad up with a job etc.

As it looks like West ham aren’t interested, a 2nd half hat-trick for Palmer would be handy followed by a sending of and 3 match ban for violent conduct. 🙂

Wonder where Moyes will end up once he’s ousted from West Ham.
He deserves Premiership but might end up at an aspiring Championship club.

Remember that game at Joker’s Park when we were 2-0 down. I was standing in the Fulwell End with my Dad. Quite close to the front.
I remember Tommy Craig winking at the Newcastle Supporters as we took a corner.
    Just before we scored.
Think it must have been the equaliser.
Not 100% sure. Long time ago now.

Yes Tommy was suffering from Alzhhimer`s Davas, he wasn`t a bad player and a real colourful character, he also played for Ards and Glentoran in the Irish League, as well as us and Burnley and Apoel Nicosia mate.

The only worry with West Ham is where Paqueta ends up. There are rumors of City and if true might be enough to at least give Bruno a thought or two. Pep always does talk him up and try to chat with him. Hopefully his friendship with Big Joe is even greater now. Not too worried about next season but possibly the one after but I guess we cross these bridges when they come.

I did not know that about Tommy.
Sad, I must have missed the reporting on it.

That game when we got back to 2-2.
If you had your back to the Clock Stand, we were in the stand to your right, which I think actually was the Roker End. In the far corner from the Clock Stand.

I’m stunned more people didn’t vote for Lewis Hall.
He’s been waiting in the wings for months now, and having had to wait for Botman, Schar and Trippier to be injured he just stepped up and played like a regular.
The problem with the likes of Bruno, Murphy and co is they are very hot and cold and just can’t be relied on to turn up..

2 wins and a draw will do as long as one of the wins is against man utd. If we draw that and win the others then man utd have to win all their other 3
