Newcastle Have Huge Opportunity To Finish 6th Top This Season

Against a good and in-form Crystal Palace team at Selhurst Park Stadium last night, Manchester United again imploded and went down 4-0, and their defense looked hopeless.

With Newcastle back to full strength with Isak, Gordon, and Wilson all fit, the chances are we can beat Manchester United away a week tomorrow night and further our claims to finish 6th top.

And any further lapses from Tottenham, who have lost their last 4 league games and Newcastle could even catch Spurs, but that’s doubtful at best – but possible.

In those 4 previous games, Newcastle captured 3 wins and 9 points, so we have gained 9 points on Tottenham over the last 4 league games.

If Newcastle win our last 3 games or even get 7 points, then it looks like we will finish 6th – because of our much superior goal difference.

That’s whatever Manchester United and Chelsea do over their final 3 games of the season.

Here are the league standings at the moment.

Premier League Table 2023-2024

PositionTeamPlayedWonLostDrawnGDPoints
5Tottenham38201261366
6Chelsea38181191463
7Newcastle38181462360
8Man United3818146-160
9West Ham38141310-1452

So the final 3 games of the season are crucial.

And it will be close to a miracle if the boys can finish 6th top and it would be a testament to Eddie Howe’s coaching abilities, given all the injuries we have had this season.

What do you think?

#NUFC are expected to make an official move for Boca Juniors winger Kevin Zenón this summer, according to various sources in Argentina via
    @Sport_Witness

The 22-year-old playmaker, who has an active release clause of just €15million (£12.9m), has impressed for Boca since joining in January as a replacement for Valentin Barco, who moved to Brighton. ?

Zenón predominately plays as a left-midfielder in a 4-4-2 formation, but his versatility is eye-catching and will appeal to Newcastle manager Eddie Howe – as he has also played at LB, LWB, AM and RW in recent weeks. He’s registered 3 goals and 4 assists in 19 matches since joining the Argentinian giants.

The Magpies have a long-standing interest in the player, and had scouts present at the “The Superclásico” between Boca and River Plate just two weeks ago with eyes on Zenón. They’ve been following him “for years”, and his performances for Boca have intensified their interest.

    Definitely one to watch, this.

Why do teams fans of Chelsea, Spurs even think that Isak would join them. Mad idea to leave the toon for one of those half baked clubs.

I am firmly in the camp of selling Wilson this summer mind. Whilst he can still do a bit in the Prem. Albeit for about 10 starts a season. Get rid, he has lost a bit of pace an all. Might get 25-35 million for him off a thick club like Chelsea, West Ham or Man Utd.

    Check

Once upon a time we got called deluded but I now realise we are the only sane ones with the way their fans go on and how easy they think it is to just come and take any player they like and how they would never turn down the chance to play for the mighty Arsenal.

Bruno just bought a new house and Isak is on the verge of announcing a new contract.

    They ain’t going nowhere

Without injuries and Tonali being banned it could have been us.

…….”it will be close to a miracle if the boys can finish 6th top and it would be a testament to Eddie Howe’s coaching abilities, given all the injuries we have had this season”…….along with the essentially season long suspension of Tonali, and the extra very high profile midweek European games both home and away too Ed.

I expect us to finish strongly given our recent form, and with really good players now available to both start and come off the bench, but regardless, well done NUFC for another stride onward and upwards in its journey to great success.

A brilliant comeback win tonight for the #NUFC Under 18s tonight away at local rivals Middlesbrough! Alfie Harrison was instrumental for the young Magpies with a goal and an assist, and promising 16-year old striker Sean Neave netted a 91st minute winner in the dying moments!

Seriously hope its not true about Wilson and being injured again!!

So because of his fitness he’s good for 10 to 12 goals a season on availability can we get a player or players who can get those goals but play more?

Kelly is a quality player mate however his injuries are a concern but I have full faith in better professionals knowing what they are doing and I feel Kelly will be a fantastic purchase all round.
