Eddie Howe Announces Newcastle Team For Brighton – Wilson Out

Eddie Howe has just announced the Newcastle team to play our final home game against Brighton this afternoon.

There were rumors Callum Wilson may not make the game and he is not in the squad; we have to assume he is injured.

Update on Wilson.

This is what Eddie Howe said after the team was announced:

“Callum’s just not feeling 100% today. A little of tightness, it’s not an injury as such.”

Here’s where we are in the league with just 3 games to play.

Premier League Table 2023-2024

PositionTeamPlayedWonLostDrawnGDPoints

7Newcastle38181462360
8Man United3818146-160
9West Ham38141310-1452

Over 85% of readers think we can win this game so anything but 3 points will be disappointing.

A win would be terrific and keep us within reach of a European place for next season.

    Been an entertaining game

In a way Brighton are an unusual team but they do remind us of our biggest weaknesses at time

A no 10 with a bit of movement causes big problems for us because we have no defensive mid doesn’t matter who we have playing it happens it’s a risk we take with the way we play

Also in games like this Isak lack of any hold up play with his back to goal means we can never play through the middle

He looked class and very involved playing with Wilson last week whereas today he’s anonymous Brighton aren’t allowing him easy balls to run onto which is his strength when he plays as central striker but he only needs one pass to hit correct so hopefully that happens!!

We are also lacking a no 10 or a player who takes up those positions as there is plenty of space just in front of the defence

But what’s good about us our wing play from both sides is class Gordon and Hall especially are creating lots of good opportunities

That’s mental that we have scored more goals than anyone just before half time

It’s good that we are being more aggressive with Enciso

Would prefer it being Bruno or Longstaff on him mind you !!

The blog is brilliant today because all the usual shit stirrers are at the meet up.

Everyone is allowed their opinion and not one person has told anyone off for it.

    Great to see.

The passing is so bad, careless and no thought in it. We need to do better.

Had a feeling that goal at halftime would kill our momentum. We have been poor second half. Early changes needed Eddie

Dead right Rob, aggressive wankker in particular missing. Might be telling the lads about his time in the SAS

If he were to start telling the lads about his time in the SAS, you’ve got to wonder how long it’d take to clear Shearer’s

Munster theres more than just one.

But its fascinating how their shit stirring is able to change what is a perfectly pleasant blog with opinions into a blog thats viewed as negative or people making trouble.

The real villains of this blog are some of the ones who are at the meet up. Ive been saying it for years.

I think we outlast them as they are the ones starting to look a bit leggy with the back and forth. Still think we get on past a mistake they make soon.
