Arsenal managed to keep up their title challenge this afternoon with a narrow 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford and they did Newcastle a favor today.
It means that Manchester United remain 3 points behind Newcastle with a worse goal difference.
Premier League Table 2023-2024
Position | Team | Played | Won | Lost | Drawn | GD | Points |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
5 | Tottenham | 38 | 20 | 12 | 6 | 13 | 66 |
6 | Chelsea | 38 | 18 | 11 | 9 | 14 | 63 |
7 | Newcastle | 38 | 18 | 14 | 6 | 23 | 60 |
8 | Man United | 38 | 18 | 14 | 6 | -1 | 60 |
9 | West Ham | 38 | 14 | 13 | 10 | -14 | 52 |
That means even if we lose at Old Trafford on Wednesday night we will still be above the Old Trafford side on goal difference.
The real threat now is Chelsea who have found some good form recently.
Manchester United play Newcastle at home on Wednesday night then Brighton away next Sunday.
Chelsea play at Brighton on Wednesday night and then at home to Bournemouth next Sunday.
Newcastle play Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday and then we are way at Brentford next Sunday.
So there you have it – it will be important that we don’t lose at Old Trafford, but two wins will clinch 6th place and European Football for Newcastle next season.
Howay the Lads!!
What do you think?

Don’t drag davetoon and Lee Bunga into your little rabble/group/clique/cult. They are as normal as you can get and discuss football matters logically and nothing at all like you, and IrishNob. You 2 bounce off each other and engage with the troll. Your negative drivel on here is pathetic and you know it is.

Comment #28If Isak and Wilson in particular can start in both, along with Schar, Joel, Pope and Trippier, then we can confidently have a red hot go. We get four of the six points on offer, then just maybe. Our away from is terrible, but we have really not had a strong 11 and and strong bench for a long time, but perhaps now, when we really need it, we will.

Comment #38Well here goes, Really enjoyed the blog meet up in Shearer’s Bar.
I met in no particular order:-
Carltoon,
Shame we got the Metro timings a wee bit wrong on the trip up to the toon!
Darnik, Too brief a time to chat!
Magic Mac, Star of the Show 🙂
Jail, we’ve met before but great to see you again.
Mund, Very pleased to see you as you were a light in a dark place before T/O
Onmeedson, – Unmistakable!
Swabila, Keep up with your guitar Marra.
New York Mag, A long journey but maybe not so far soon?
Sir Pug, Liked you top with the NUFC badge on it!
Martoon, (and his Lady). A lovely couple nice to get a chance to talk to Mrs M.
Not another De Yong – maybe we can talk again in a less noisy atmosphere?
Fenham, a Brief hello I don’t know why but I thought you’d be taller? 🙂
Check the toastie, just a brief encounter!
Lockinvar, Gan Canny Marra.
Bill’s was also there but like him I was routed to my seat. Sadly I had to go just after Brighton Scored as sitting and looking up at the screens was doing my neck no good at all. When I hobbled over to the Metro Stn gutted to find there was a 30 minute delay and my plan to watch the 2nd half some where else was blown up in smoke!
Would have loved to have met Wor B but maybe another time!
Forgive me if I’ve missed anyone out but I am an old geezer you know!

Comment #39I’m hoping to arrange another little meal out, maybe after the new fixtures have come out!
Let me know if you fancy it – maybe at The same venue as before (not far from Whitley Bay) as that was reasonably priced and the car parking was In abundance. 🙂
