Newcastle’s 19-year-old Alex Murphy joined Newcastle United from Galway United in July 2022, almost two years ago and since then has been training with the Newcastle first team.
And news today that Newcastle have given Alex a new long-term contract.
Murphy seems to be the perfect player to be coached by Eddie Howe, since he takes everything in and the U19 Irish International is rapidly improving on Tyneside.
Alex made his Premier League debut last November in the 4-1 win over Chelsea and he made his second appearance in the 5-1 rout of Sheffield United earlier this year.
So he is slowly being introduced into the first team by head coach Eddie Howe.
This is what Eddie Howe has said about the player:
“I’m really pleased to see Alex sign a new long-term contract here.”
“It’s well deserved recognition for the work he’s put in over the course of the season.”
“He had a great pre-season in America and has gone from strength to strength since, earning himself a Premier League debut and a regular place in our matchday squads.”
“We rate Alex highly. He applies himself brilliantly every day and he knows if he continues working hard that further opportunities will come his way.”
And 6ft tall Murphy seemed delighted to be getting a new long-term deal at Newcastle:
“I’ve loved every minute since I first signed nearly two years ago.”
“I’ve been fortunate to work with some brilliant players and coaches – with both the Academy and the first team – and I’m really grateful for the opportunities.”
“It’s an exciting time to be a young player at this club.”
“We can all see there is a pathway from the number of players who have made their first-team debuts this season.”
“I just need to keep working hard and hopefully I can build on the progress I’ve made so far.”
Newcastle will need to keep bringing in top young players to the club like Alex and let Eddie Howe and his team develop them into first-team players who know exactly what’s required of them when wearing the Newcastle jersey.
So far so good for Alex Murphy.

Comment #2G; yes they did. I was mistaken about the Sheff Wed deduction. It was the training ground there owner sold to himself.
It was Hillsborough.

Either way they were deducted 12 points.
It would seem the practice of selling something to one self is allowed in the EPL.

Comment #4Not much point to PSR rules then really? Perhaps our rich owners would like to sell the pitch we’re about to rip up and replace to themselves for an extortionate amount? £300M or so ought to do it?

Absolutely. The PL rules are not fit for purpose, EFL and UEFA don’t allow this nonsense.
I’d not want us to do this but could we not sell individual seat naming rights to wealthy Saudi businessmen who want the “prestige of having their name on a seat” at SJP. Could we auction off the pitch if we dig it up, or sell the corner flags as mementos, etc.
It’s already fascicle that a club that sells more shirts and mugs in their club shop can spend more on players, but at least their is a tenuous link to footballing success making you more popular worldwide. Sell hotels to yourself is idiotic. What if the PIF chairman just decided he wanted to place an order for 20 million Newcastle shirts? Would that be allowed?

Comment #7The thing is with financial rules is that there will always be loopholes.
A football clubs success should not be based on how efficient their accountants are.
It is highly likely that the Chelsea accountants wrote the EPL’s PSR rules and know all the loopholes as a result.

Comment #9Chelsea selling hotels and training ground to themselves.
Apparently Eufa have a specific rule against this. The EPL do not.
You should not need a specific rule to ban this.
Some things in life go without needing to be proved.
Grass is genarally green.
Sky is genearlly blue.
Sunday comes after Saturday.
Selling something to yourself is not a genuine sale.
You should not need a rule in relation to this.

Comment #11Fenners has commented there on the Chelsea situation.
He’s not fooled. Is anybody and I agree totally.
One thing I would mention. He says they are cooking the books.
For me when you cook the books there is at least an element of deceit. You hide what you are doing or you misrepresent the facts.
Think on this. Chelsea are not doing that. They are openly sticking two fingers up to the Premier League, Every other Premier League club and every supporter.
It’s like this is what we have done. Want to argue lets spend three years in the courts with your lawyers and ours.
It’s about time public opinion kicked in as it did with the European Super League.

Comment #13I still feel Chelsea should have been held to account over the ‘interest free loan’ that the previous owner wrote off? £4.5Bn I believe? The club shouldn’t even exist any more, never mind be allowed to make a mockery of PSR rules and FFP.

Comment #14Re post #8. This post has had an overhaul as it needed fixing:
“Troll, lesh, munster we are besties 4 life. We first formed our cult back in April 1st 2023 called “Freakshow” but have since renamed it too “Hamas4eva” where our soul purpose is to be the blogs agitators that only come onto here with the one soul purpose which is to antagonise, insult, annoy, goad good decent folk…to destroy and disrupt any good positive harmony that this blog has to offer and drag the blog down to the depths of our evil cult which is in the sewers”
There you go, very sad but very true 😉

Aye I’ve just clocked his (dark lesh) post 2 threads back, like an hour after the bus moved saying to Mister Tuff. That “not one person have stated that they enjoyed fenhams company work that one out”. lol what is wrong with this person. Very odd and strange behaviour yet again from him. I think he needs to step away from here again as it’s not going to do his mental health much good because of the way he interacts on here.

Comment #18If just one of you guys stop replying to the little digs, being baited by another posters comments and take the ‘bigger man’ approach by just not responding and slinging insults back….it’ll make the other person look incredibly childish and stupid if they then carry on.

You’re as right as right can be #18 and I agree with your assessment.
But sometimes the things that get put up on here by a certain group need highlighting at times. But of course you’re right and I bloody wish I had the will power to take your advice on board fully and run with it. But a certain 3 make me see red at times and for good reason. It’s what they’re about and what they’re up to that gets me.

Comment #20Chelsea have something going on that’s all smoke & mirrors!
They are allowed to pull all these stunts to their benefit then the premier league bring in a rule to stop the rest of the clubs gaining the same advantage! They get a leg up at every turn!

Look back and you’ll see that the goading usually been initiated by the very one who claims to be a victim of it. He’s not as innocent as he’d like folk to think.
