Eddie Howe Names Newcastle Side For Manchester United Test – Isak, Trippier Start

Tonight’s game is important for Newcastle at Old Trafford since a win could almost guarantee Newcastle European competition next season.

If we can draw the game we will finish at least 7th in the league table and finish above Manchester United for the first time ever in the Premier League.

But a win is what we need since an in-form Chelsea side are level with Newcastle on 57 points – with only 2 games to play.

Chelsea play at Brighton tonight.

Here’s the team.

Over 70% of our readers think Newcastle can win this game tonight – let’s hope they are right about that.

    Three Manc pundits on tv.
    No bias there then.
    We will still win.
Upgrades in midfield needed in summer.

Isak on, as I said mid afternoon.

Surprised Barnes isn’t doing a bit better. Turning into a super sub?

Quite surprised the bookies have us as favourites.

Patchy away form and Man Utd with home advantage.

Gordon will enjoy this one. The dark side of the force will be on show.

Barnes is a finisher if given the right chance.
He is not a winger who can go past a full back in traditional sense like Saka or Diaz who are different class

I find it almost nauseating how people are soo adamant this is going to be a win for us.

I genuinely think everything has clicked in the right place at the right time for a Manure win, Bruno back is terrifying, i dobt care how long hes been out or hpw rusty he is He can be lethal even playing at 10%.

I think at our best we can absolutely win, but tonight under these circumstances i cant see us getting a result.

But believe me i fully believe if we play our best we can win, but we probably played our best twice away all season.

I just cant understand why people are so certain even Merson and Rooney are going for us but i really cant see it.

    Hwtl though!

Its never been more important for us to score first. Look how well Manure play when their heads dont drop. Score first and we have a great chance.

That Man U starting 11 does not look very attack minded for a home game that they must win to have a chance of getting into Europe.
Some I expect that he’s resting some players (Hojland, Antony, Rashford) come on in the second half and early second half if they’re behind.
Quite happy with our team, shame Tino is injured for the season.

Trippier is a big call, in from the cold, it could be good or bad. I hope hes going to be match sharp and switched on, Rashford will be on at some stage and it will be a huge job to marshall his speed.

They have a cup final to prioritise. Cole was sold against his wishes as was ferdinand. If only football wasnt a business they dont get sold 🙁

I dunno personally i wouldn’t be calling a player who set the league on fire for us and never said a bad word about us when he left a kunt. People move clubs all the time.

The other two are 100% justified imo lol

Howe sounds confident in the pre-game interview. That should be a good sign of the feeling in the dressing room.

I hare the way Eddie is calling Wilson an illness, theres no way hes ill, he looked fine in training and he was apparently ill before isak and Isak is back first. I reckon hes injured and is trying to protect him or hide another injury to get better price for him in the summer.

Before the teams were named thinking we had a great chance to win. Less optimistic now with bruno fernandes startin. Can see him being the difference tonight. Wish eddie wud call as it is around wilson hes injured and crocked again not feeling unwell.

Isak is the biggest threat on the pitch tonight so im hoping he is at his best, Isak will be the one everyone will be focusing on, even the Man U fans, they will be praying he has a stinker, while we , one the other hand, hope he plays a blinder.

Also eddie needs to be tougher. Pope deserves to start. Dubravka has done nothing to warrant him keeping his position. He needs to learn a lot as a manager yet very weak around this stuff was the reason we had so many injuries cause he doesnt no how to rotate.

    Wilson ill, really?
Just admit it Eddie, the lad is injured AGAIN.
Time to move him on in the summer imo.
He is neither use nor ornament for us and the club are paying a lot of money in wages for the privilage.
