After the disappointment of losing 3-2 at Old Trafford on Wednesday night and Chelsea beating Brighton away, both teams beneath us gained 3 points on Newcastle in the league table.
🙁
We are now 3 points behind Chelsea and level on points with Manchester United in 7th place (with 57 points) but above them on goal difference.
Manchester United are at Brighton on Sunday and Chelsea are home to Bournemouth.
Here are some comments Eddie Howe made about our final game at Brentford on Sunday – 4:00pm KO.
Eddie Howe on Anthony Gordon’s fitness:
“We will wait and see how he is today. I’m not 100% sure as I sit here now exactly how he is. Certainly that tackle left a mark on him.”
On Lewis Hall’s development:
“I think for any player when you come to a new club, it’s natural there’s going to be a settling-in period. He’s done really well to commit and continue to commit and have consistency in his work, even when no doubt he was frustrated that things weren’t happening quicker than he’d wanted. “
“He did really well at Old Trafford and showed a lot of maturity. I’m delighted with where his game is at.”
On Wednesday’s performance at Old Trafford:
“I think we’ve had highlights and had some good performances but it’s summed up by Wednesday where I thought we played OK.”
“The performance generally was good, we created chances and we looked a good team but we weren’t ruthless enough to take the game away from our opponent.”
“For next year we have to get that away form right.”
On Callum Wilson”
“We anticipate he will be fit for Sunday.”
On Sunday’s game at Brentford:
“It’s a big last day for us, there’s no denying that. We go into the game knowing we have to do our part, which is try and win the game.”
“Then we’re in the hands of other clubs. The players are determined to finish on a high.”
What do you think?

“The club need to ask for the audio from the VAR van…”
Is there a VAR van? I thought it might be a room somewhere in the stadium.
If it’s a van, that’s cool! Like those cop films, technology all round a couple dudes and one cute lady listening in to a conversation with the chief mobster.
“Abort! We’ve been busted! Angry Geordie fans approaching, they know it was a Gordon penalty! Let’s move, NOW!”

Comment #5Lesh – good idea getting back into your box/coffin before the sun comes up. Then you can come out tonight once the sun goes down.
Your Hannibal Lector Lecter type night vision googles will not work in daylight.
Grammar tips.
To and too are homonyms, but their usage and meanings are very different1. Here are some rules to help you differentiate between the two23415:
To is typically a preposition or infinitive verb. It shows a relationship between words or elements.
Too is always an adverb. It can also indicate an excessive amount.
To shows direction, movement toward or range between people, places, or things.
Too is used when something is additional or excessive.
Two means the number 2.

Comment #7I would be surprised if Gordon doesn’t make Sunday’s game. He has only missed games through suspension and delights on being out there. Many players would have come off on Wednesday. I was delighted when we signed him. My only query was his attitude, but Eddie has helped him with that. His speed off the mark reminds me of Stanley Matthews, not that I ever saw him in the flesh!
If Pope is ready to play Eddie will pick him and Trippier too.

Comment #15His x-rated statement aside, and apart from his bullet of a goal, I liked it that Hall had his hand up often during the game to alert a colleague that he was unmarked. They’d duly pass to him.
Remember, he’s just 19, he’s showing excellent signs. Slowly, but surely.

Comment #17Moanster – I’ve tried to improve the English grammar on here by suggesting that the usual culprits improve by reading books like the Peppa Pig and Noddy and Big Ears books and videos.
Unfortunately in the long run by probably 2050 English will not be the main language here and in your country.

Out of curiosity, why do you feel sorry for them?
I’m not saying I totally agree with all the changes happening in the world and peoples outlooks/viewpoints.
But overall, it seems like the younger generation are a lot more accepting of everyone, less hateful, care more about the environement and the only real push back they get about any of those things come from the older generation mostly.
Again, not saying everyone, or that I agree with everything, but overall it feels like the future looks better to be honest.

Really disappointed if Ramsdale comes instead of Mamardashvilli. Raya was bought as he can play out and is very good with the ball at his feet. Pope and Ramsdale aren’t ”footballing” keepers who are comfortable receiving and controlling it. Ramsdale and Mamardashvilli will cost practically the same amount. and Mama is younger. Mama will probably now go to a top 6 team.

Comment #38Ramsdale is on equal par with Pope similar shot stoppers a little better with his feet I suppose he’s younger and less injury prone
However I would prefer us go for a keeper upgrade similar to how Arsenal moved for Raya his skillset has made them more solid and given them more control of games especially as chasing the ball full throttle for 90 mins isn’t sustainable
If Ortega really wants to leave Man City to be first choice somewhere we should be all over it great keeper but more importantly he’s a winner that brings a proper mentality shift that we need
We need proven quality and experience as well now we have lots of promising young players but they can go missing in the big games
