Newcastle Must Go All Out For The Win Tomorrow – Be Brave – No Excuses

It was the great former Newcastle manager Kevin Keegan who once said

“The sky’s the limit” at St James’ Park. Despite some struggles this season, Howe was happy to continue in a similar vein.”

And this season a couple of games ago Newcastle were 6th top with a 3-point lead over Manchester United.

With our surprising loss to the Red Devils 3-2 on Wednesday night and Chelsea winning again at Brighton 2-1 we are now in 7th place in the league, 3 points behind Chelsea.

Newcastle are level on points with Manchester United, but above the Red Devils with a significantly better goal difference.: +21 against -3.

Premier League Table 2023-2024

7Newcastle38181462360
8Man United3818146-160
9West Ham38141310-1452

So we can finish 6th, 7th, or 8th top of the league depending on the results tomorrow, but a win would give us at least 7th place and that’s what we must aim for.

Carrying on from what Kevin Keegan said about the sky’s the limit for Newcastle this is what Eddie Howe told Chronicle Live:

“I always have that mindset (sky’s the limit). I consider myself very positive about the future.”

“I would be saying that regardless of investment, wealth and all the things that you attach to that.”

“For me it is about the opportunity to manage this club.”

“And the opportunity to take this club into an exciting era. There are so many positives to be associated with the team and what we have given this year.”

“What the future could be. But it is not plain sailing, it is very difficult to add context to it.”

“You can’t get carried away with certain labels. I think it is about trying to consistently improve what you have.”

“That’s what we are trying to do. And that’s what we will continue to do.”

“It’s a big last day for us, there’s no denying that. We go into the game knowing we have to do our part, which is try and win the game.”

“Then we’re in the hands of other clubs. The players are determined to finish on a high.”

“For next year we have to get that away form right.. I think we’ve had highlights and had some good performances but it’s summed up by Wednesday where I thought we played OK at Man United.”

“The performance generally was good, we created chances and we looked a good team but we weren’t ruthless enough to take the game away from our opponent.”

It looks like Callum Wilson will be fit for the game at the Gtech Community Stadium tomorrow and it could be his absence through illness that has cost us in the last two games where we have only managed to pick up 1 point.

So there you have it – if we can finish 7th on Saturday and Man City beat Man United in the FA Cup Final we can make the Europa League conference.

As an aside when are the Premier League going to look into Manchester City, and the 115 charges against FFP’s strict guidelines for nine years through 2017, when the club is accused of providing inaccurate financial information about their revenue.

To be more blunt about the accusations, City kept two sets of books – one they showed to the PL (the false figures) and then the real one they kept to themselves: that’s a serious criminal offense in business.

Finally, there’s not much money to be made in the Europa Conference, but it will give our players another season to adjust to playing 2 games a week – that’s worth it.

The only thing that matters on Sunday is a Toon win. I’m certain Eddie and the lads will deliver.

“” Newcastle could sell £17m-rated wonderkid to offset Financial Fair Play ‘trouble’””
It may be the way of the world, but having to sell Minteh seems wrong. I would love to see him play for us and if he plays in Australia, that maybe the first & last time he appears in black n white.
