In the chronicle. One word I think is exaggeration:

“Newcastle United know Europa Conference League qualification will dramatically improve their chances of attracting top talent to Tyneside this summer.”

    Did you find it?

    Dramatically.

You’re trying to attract top talent. You’re selling the bright future idea. Pitching the high salary with performance incentives. Mention the Brazilians. Throw in a Ferrari. And, BTW, we are in the conference league!

    “No sxxt?”

One good thing about being in the Europa conference, if we get there, is i will at least get a chance to go to the match in the early rounds playing teams i have never heard of, from countries such as Albania, Kosovo and Lithuania etc.
Oh wait, we might still fill the cathedral, shit.
Oh well, was just a thought.

No disrespect to Barkley but he would of been the kind of signing we would of made under Jabba, not under these rich owners who are at a different level.
He has done well a Luton, but jeez, he is well past his best, and i am very surprised Villa are interested.

We managed to attract some damn good players 2 years ago without the boast of playing in Europe so i can`t see it being a problem now, even if we do play in the Mickey Mouse equivalent of European competition next season.
It is a Mickey Mouse competition lets face it, you often hear of the championship being a Mickey Mouse league, well that European competition is the same.
Newcastle United will be massive favourites to win it imho, that`s if the red scum mancs lose in the cup.

VAR officials are set to be told to intervene in Premier League matches only when a referee is “clearly wrong” next season, according to the Times.

So that would have been a penalty for us against Manu – as the ref was clearly wrong and VAR would award it next time .

And the penalty awarded against Brentford would have stood – as the ref was clearly right.

What happens then when VAR is clearly wrong as on both such occasions ?

    Confused ? More chaos incoming.

Barkley has stood out as he was Luton’s best player. But we need to invest for future success not stand still.

    WLtoon,
We shouldn’t be so quick to write off Villa’s recruitment they seem to be doing a very good job so far, they’ve brought in that young Columbian striker Duran and spent decent money on a young Boro striker, at the same time getting rid of that duffer Cameron Archer for decent wedge. I’d just hang fire on what Barkley brings to their table.

I think the thing that has impressed with Barkley is that he seems to have regained his desire, if he he has a shot at making the WC 26 then Villa may have made a very astute free signing. We are well stocked in MF with everyone fit so no loss for us him going to Villa.

    Raj.
If we had signed Barkley when we got new owners there would of been countless posters asking questions about how ambitious they were, for me he would of been a typical Ashley signing, the type of player we wanted years ago but weren`t ambitious enough to go and get him. and only signing him now because he is cheap.
True he has been great for Luton but how many top clubs will want him.
If Villa do sign him and he has a good season then fair enough, good for the lad, but come on, not for me mate.

    Lochinvar,

You are right , Barkley has had an unbelievable season for Luton, he has showed the talent a lot of fans thought he had in him all those years ago this season , but for me it`s too little too late.
I think he stands out in Luton`s midfield because it`s erm, Luton.

I`m still scratching my head as to why the Toon have jetted off to Aussie to play Spuds, yeah yeah, it`s all about spreading the word and money talks but will it make that much difference to the coffers.
Judging by the look on some of the players faces when they are getting of the plane i think they are thinking the same as me.
WTF are we doing here only two days after the season has finished.

    Good Morning All

On Ross Barkley, he was simply superb all season for Luton and to such an extent he was being mentioned as getting a call up for England. I was getting very excited when we were allegedly being linked with him, but it looks like he might be on his way to Villa, i think he will prove to be a very astute signing next season for Villa.

Don’t personally see Barkley doing much at Villa, but it’s also not exactly a big gamble (low fee), so they can take the chance.

Barkley had a fantastic season, but I think it’s partly because he was essentially the ‘Bruno; player for them. Everything went through him. They always looked to pass it to him and he had total freedom to drift everywhere around the pitch to pull the strings.

That isn’t going to be the case at Villa, with the likes of McGinn, Luiz, Tielemans and Buendia etc etc.

I imagine they’ve just seen Barkley as a decent low cost transfer to help them rotate the squad more next season with Champions League football.

Essentially risk free so not bad business, just don’t think he’ll be pulling up trees like he was at Luton.
