I wouldn’t be happy if I’d paid good money to watch that team mind. Let’s hope Kuol shines today.

From Sanjay to avoid accusations of plagiarism šŸ˜€
“The Jarrod Bowen and Dominic Calvert-Lewin links to #NUFC are interesting.

Jarrod Bowen is a dream signing for all of us, but one that I’ve always firmly had in the “unattainable” category given that he could easily be our record signing. But *if* we can get it done, then he’s the best RW on the domestic market. He should be Salah’s successor at Liverpool. As I’ve said before on here – Mbeumo should be the next option.

Calvert-Lewin is bound to have many scratching heads – and although it’s not an ideal signing, I think it’s logical. We’d love to have two top CFs competing with each other (for example Sesko), but the reality is it’s probably hard (but certainly not impossible) to execute this.

It’s hard to convince any top CF to play behind the 3rd best CF in the world in Alexander Isak. Calvert-Lewin gives us a slightly different profile, more aerial threat – and he would be satisfied to play behind Isak.

He runs the channels well, he’ll help with set-pieces at both ends, his hold up play is strong – and let’s not forget how good he was between 2019 and 2021. He’s still only 27, and Howe would feel like we can get him back to being a 10+ goals a season CF, especially now that he’s just had a fairly injury-free season.

I personally really enjoyed watching DCL in his prime, and 3 years ago he was England second choice CF to Kane. If we can get him back to those levels, which is feasible – then it’s potentially a really opportunistic signing.

I’d honestly be quite excited to see what we could get from him given his skillset and ability to give us different attacking solutions”

I don’t think many will agree with that mind.

    morning all,
i think only EGB is going to be the only one happy with this team sheet šŸ˜†

    Newcastle United:
Mark Gillespie (c), Harrison Ashby, Ciaran Thompson, Alex Murphy, Dylan Charlton, Travis Hernes, Joe White, Jay Turner-Cooke, Ben Parkinson, Amadou Diallo, Garang Kuol.

Still I’m sure Eddie knows what he is doing!

Iā€™m glad weā€™re only playing the kids. Hopefully Kuol can shine and get some confidence. That Hernes has a big future if he can tap into his huge potential.

We may see some senior players brought on later in this game.

    Jail on DCL…

    I agree with Sanjay’s assessment.

I was in support of signing him when we were supposedly interested last year but it all depends on the fee.

He was a Ā£60M+ player under Ancelloti but I reckon Ā£40M tops now.

DCL wouldn’t top my list but he defo has the skill and ability to get back to top form under Eddie and he gives us an aerial threat and hold up play that neither Isak or Wilson have.

I think he is one of those players that most fans would moan about if we signed him… but the tune might change once Eddie works his magic and he is playing in an attacking team with wingers to supply quality crosses like AG and Barnes.

I think there might be legs in the rumour.

Morning all, i was going to try and watch the game this morning but i don`t think ile bother after seeing the line up, i am all for giving the younguns a chance but come on, not a single first teamer in there.
If the kids get hammered it could do a lot of harm to their confidence, especially Koul.
We are getting beat already apparently

DCL has had an injury free season and would be a decent option to bring in. He can give us a different dimension and is effective in the air at set pieces. Wouldnā€™t be bothered to play the second striker role.

Heā€™d be a target right from the outset of the negative naysayers crowd though

Is Alfie Harrison injured as he hasnā€™t made the team or squad for this game against the A League all stars ?

This would have been a great chance for him as he is one of the ones thatā€™s trained with the seniors?

From Magpie Media, (not sure how trustworthy he is) this is also doing the rounds in Spain now:

ā€œ BREAKING EXCLUSIVE ? – #NUFC are in advanced discussions with Valencia over the signing of 23-year old goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

A fee of around ā‚¬35million (Ā£29.8m) is now verbally agreed between the clubs – of which 10% is set to go to Mamardashviliā€™s former club, Dinamo Tbilisi.

Newcastle and Mamardashvili himself are both pushing for a swift conclusion to the transfer, and itā€™s hopef that the move will be wrapped up before the start of EURO 2024 – a tournament where Mamardashvili will feature for his nation Georgia.

Personal terms are not expected to be a problem, either – as the 6ā€™6ā€ shot-stopper is keen on the move to Tyneside. Heā€™s ā€œenthusedā€ by the Magpiesā€™ project and at the opportunity to play in the Premier League. ā€œ

The nufc team is too inexperienced against an all stars team including internationals. We could do with some experienced players – interesting whether the likes of Trippier, Anderson etc. will come on 2nd half.
Also Eddie Howe vindicated what some of us were saying yesterday that they hadn’t got Kuol’s loan right!!

Love the club and love just about everything the new owners have done to date but I think they have called this one wrong. Flew the entire first team squad to Australia to promote our name and reputation. Then fielded effectively a youth team. The Aussie comments on social media are building up and are massively negative. Lots of people paid good money, travelled, etc and are very disappointed. Shame.

I don`t usually get excited about a goalkeeper signing but ive got to admit that this Gorgian fella looks the dogs bollocks.
It`s going to be an exciting summer that`s for sure .and it seems a few other clubs supporter are watching our movements judging by some of the vlogs iv`e watched.

Well, Paqueta looks like he is in the doo doo big time, Tonali got a 10 months ban, Paquata should get double that , seems he was betting on himself getting booked in certain matches, and did.

I thought good earlier on that we hadnā€™t fielded a strong team as the lads could get injured etc. they may have voiced their concerns and displeasure of having to play this tournament in the first place and Eddie has said look we will play the first game against spurs with a strong side and the kids in the second game.

But if there is a backlash of people wanting to see our first team play and spent good money of course they will be negative about it so this exercise may well backfire. Shame yes!

    Minteh/Kuol
Two completely different situations for me.

Minteh. Had played in a european legue for a season or so.
    6M pound transfer.

Kuol. No 1st team football of any great note and was a 300 grand transfer.
He was essentially a young prospect. I would have kept him at the club just like many of the other young lads.

If the rumours are actually true and we do get Mamardashvili signed quickly, then an early window with Tosin, Kelly, and Mamardashvili is one hell of a strong signal of intent from the club. That would be 3 players that have the potential of changing our back line in a hugely positive manner.

Early signings in the transfer window ensures that theyā€™re bonding with the squad during preseason etc.
