No European Competition For Newcastle Next Season

With Manchester United playing well and beating Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley yesterday in the FA Cup Final it ended Newcastle’s last chance of a place in the Europa League Conference – so no European competition next season for Newcastle.

It’s like going back two years ago before Eddie Howe had his first full season at Newcastle and we made the Carabao Cup Final only to lose 2-0 to Manchester United.

It doesn’t look like the win yesterday will save Erik ten Hag’s career at the Red Devils, and he is still expected to be replaced.

It was hard luck on us but with respect, the Red Devils deserved their win yesterday and had an excellent game plan which seemed to work almost to perfection.

Newcastle’s season was brutal with all the extra games and injuries we picked up and we have to think this season has to be one of consolidation and we must learn from last season’s endeavors.

We played 51 games last season and with a win ratio of 45.1%.

The season before last, we played 46 total games with a win ratio of 52.2% – so we expect around the same number of games this season.

We will have less games this season but our season goals surely have to be to win a local Cup win and to again finish in the top four as we did the season before last.

Who Was Newcastle's Player Of The Season 2023-2024?

How`s the form mate, Dominic Calvert-Lewin has definitely not had an injury free season, anything but it in fact, which was the reason they had to play Beto in a lot of games, in my humble opinion mate, it would be totally nonsensical to dispatch of Wilson and replace him with another injury ravaged player, it just doesn`t make any sense marra.

I wasn’t keen at all on DCL and still not fussed but reading that piece from Sanjay gave me a different outlook, with just a year left there’s absolutely no way he’s going for £60M. Transfermarkt has his value at £20M and I think that’s nearer the mark.

All the talk of signing players
I am a little more interested in what we can use from the u21 squad

Miley will be is the squad next season
Alex muphy at left back has played will he be part of the squad or loaned out
    Same with harrison and minteh
I think all 3 will go with the first team for preseason

On the positive side Calvert -Lewin is only 27, he is actually quite a decent player, it`s just his injury record which is very concerning, added to the fact it looks like we are going to sign Lloyd Kelly another player who appears to have injury concerns, we definitely don`t want another injury ravaged season like the one just ended.

    Weekly review.
    Australia trip,

Not a as waste of time for myself if it pushes the ideals of Newcastle United and the fan base out in Australia, yes the second game with the kids was a little off but it’s good experience for them to see the levels needed and it’s also good for EH and staff to see where they are and what they need to become better players.

    Europe.

For those and I’m not talking about on here but in general on the internet, Man City didn’t let us down for the Europe spot, we did as a club by not getting the necessary points needed.

    Transfers.

I’m amazed we still have some on the books, the likes of Hendrick, Fraser, Hayden and Lewis these four are either out of contract or have a number for transfer we don’t really need to cover those players but at least two could bring in some funds. we add in the rumors for transferring out, Wilson, Miggy, Dums, Dubs, Karius and Ritchie seem to be the main ones talked about, I would add in Target and possibly Longy for extra transfer funds if needed. Now if this scenario happened how many would we need to replace immediately with Transfer fees.
Total 12 players that could be gone.
Kelly and Tosin covers Keeper for Dubs – Mamardashvili, Bowen or someone for Miggy, DCL or someone for Wilson, I’m sure Minteh will be looked at and hopefully EH is praying he can do a job which helps out on monies for other areas.
Having Sandro back is like a new signing.

    Assassins Inc,
Aye, Targett seems to keep getting left out of discussions, if we sign Kelly and with the emergence of Hall and BDB at LB surely there’s no place for him. Also I think we keep forgetting when factoring budget ( I did when saying an outlay of £90M for Bowen and Marmitevashadil) that we have to pay about £30M for Hall this summer.

Evening mate, on Alex Murphy he can play either left back or left central, and played both those positions when playing in the league of Ireland with Galway United, also it`s well documented Eddie Howe likes players who are versatile, or as they use to say back in the day Utility players, i`m in good company on the blog as lots of my senior comrades will remember Utility players 😀 😀 😀

Total 8 players, Kelly and Tosin on free, Dubs – Mamardashvili, Bowen or someone for Miggy, DCL or someone for Wilson, I’m sure Minteh will be looked at and hopefully EH is praying he can do a job which helps out on monies for other areas.
Having Sandro back is like a new signing.
We have seven players covered of the eight, Mama, Bowen, Kelly, Tosin, DCL, Minteh and Sandro.
Of course this is rumors and nothing more, but if true I’m still thinking we need a couple more, maybe some youth team players could step up, I see MGW rumor and a possible dip into the Leeds squad and a few from relegated teams.

    Director of football.

We need this covered quickly, the club need to pull there fingers out and get this done asap.

    Raj,
I agree 90 million or close to it only covers two players. And Hall already is a signing at 30 odd. So that’s 120 ish gone.
That’s the thing that scares me the most, we need some funds, Fraser, Lewis, Target, Wilson, Miggy and Longy are six players that will bring in some funds but honestly how much. Wilson 15- 20 maybe? Miggy 20-25 maybe? Target 10-15 maybe, Fraser 5 – 10, Lewis 5 – 10 both maybe money and Longy 15 – 20 maybe. That’s a number between, 70 low end and 100 million high end.
Not knowing our actual budget is a head ache, but let’s guess that it’s,150 million as we didn’t sign anyone in Jan which helped a little.
So if Bowen and Mama are covered at 90 and 30 for hall, leaves 30 million add in low end of 70 or high end of 100, we will have 100 – 130 to cover Wilson and get in say 2/3 more squad players.
Of course this is all scenario based but it makes for an interesting summer of transfers.

West ham got him for 21 and he is valued at 50 million on transfer market place.
Fcuking Ashley, he should have been ours already. On the road to us and Ashley decided against it, what a cockney c0ck.
If West Ham are thinking 80 then they are smoking the devils lettuce.
Olise same position valued at 50 million on transfer market place and Chelsea are rumored at getting a deal at 60 million, honestly Olise wouldn’t be a bad choice if West Ham are high.

Blast from the past. Some bloggers weren’t sure about Bowen, never mind Ashley 😉

    https://www.nufcblog.com/2020/01/17/report-mike-ashley-to-sanction-bid-for-long-term-target/

    Kets was spot on.

But he did think we’d beat Man U for Bruno Fernandez signature. Which didn’t happen, unfortunately. What a player HE turned out to be. As well as Bowen, who’s probably worth nearer 100 million now, never mind 60.

Crysencio Summerville valued at 20 million purchased for, this blows my mind because Mund is spot on with this kid, purchased for 1.5 million.
Archie Gray which a lot wouldn’t know is the son of Andy Gray and from Durham so good stock. Getting him away from Leeds could be possible but the family ties are strong with Andy, his uncle Eddie and even his Grandfather Frank all playing for Leeds.
But he did go against his father in playing for England instead of Scotland and reached the under 21’s already, the kid can play down the whole spine of central midfield and has played at RB so Eh type player valued at 18 million could be a good squad player to add to the mix.
