With Manchester United playing well and beating Manchester City 2-1 at Wembley yesterday in the FA Cup Final it ended Newcastle’s last chance of a place in the Europa League Conference – so no European competition next season for Newcastle.
It’s like going back two years ago before Eddie Howe had his first full season at Newcastle and we made the Carabao Cup Final only to lose 2-0 to Manchester United.
It doesn’t look like the win yesterday will save Erik ten Hag’s career at the Red Devils, and he is still expected to be replaced.
It was hard luck on us but with respect, the Red Devils deserved their win yesterday and had an excellent game plan which seemed to work almost to perfection.
Newcastle’s season was brutal with all the extra games and injuries we picked up and we have to think this season has to be one of consolidation and we must learn from last season’s endeavors.
We played 51 games last season and with a win ratio of 45.1%.
The season before last, we played 46 total games with a win ratio of 52.2% – so we expect around the same number of games this season.
We will have less games this season but our season goals surely have to be to win a local Cup win and to again finish in the top four as we did the season before last.

Being the ultimate spoofer, Fenners likes to adopt the tactic of if you repeat something often enough, then it becomes fact.
So he’ll tell you forever more that I “had a go” at JJ in return for him having a go at FB and therefore I must be a wrong ‘un and a troll supporter to boot.
And it appears some have fallen for it!
What actually happened in that instance was everyone was adhering to the ‘don’t engage the troll’ narrative and FB had been quiet for a while, not abusing anyone (for a change!)
Then JJ popped up to break the ceasefire with one of those ‘vile character’, etc.etc. comments.
Of course that set him off, and away we went again.
My response was to post a Vic and Bob ‘You wouldn’t let it lie’ You tube clip.
(to obviously highlight that the fuse had been relit)
According to Fenners, that was a heinous crime which meant I was anti JJ and pro FB
Only I wasn’t ‘having a go’, it was just banter/humour. (again)
At least it was for someone without an agenda.
Some time later I was hit with the accusation of ‘targeting’ JJ, and as ‘targeting’ gets thrown around as in ‘attacking’, I asked JJ if we were ok.
He confirmed all was good, and it was forgotten.
However, Fenners prefers to remain outraged on JJ’s behalf and continues to use it as a stick to beat me with in order to deflect from me ridiculing his nonsense.
I’ve dug out some rhymes from my drafts which feature JJ, and so as not to clog up this thread I’ve posted them at the end of the ‘No European Competion’ one, should anyone care enough to see that I’m not such a bad guy after all. ?
You’ll find that what I’ve dome amounts to nothing more than light ribbing
A bit cheeky? – Undoubtedly.
But abusive or vindictive, – Not guilty
I also get accused of siding with the troll, so for good measure I’ve thrown in a couple of rhymes I’ve posted concerning FB in order to dispel yet another myth.
Agenda seems to override content for some on here, so I don’t expect the evidence to be recognised by the Fennerati, but at least the rest of you have a chance to see that I’m on a trumped up charge here!
I won’t comment further on the matter as I now have to prepare my defence for two further charges recently brought against me, namely
1. Unlicensed piss taking in a public place
2. Possessing a sense of humour in a fkn comedic wilderness
