My father, Edward Harrison passed away today, June 13th 2024 at 1:30PM EST, which equates to 6:30PM in his beloved Newcastle upon Tyne. He is survived by his wife Madeline, son Paul, myself and my wife, daughter Elaine, and older brother Rodney Harrison.

My father started The Newcastle United Blog in 2007 and kept it going, at times sparingly, until earlier this month. His final post announced Anthony Gordon winning the blog’s 17th annual Player of the Season award.

Dr. Ed’s passions in life spanned many areas but nothing could compare to his love of Newcastle United. As many Geordies before and after him, this club held a special place in his heart.

I would like to personally thank all of the readers of this blog who made this endeavor a special one for my father. He was one of a kind, and we will miss him.

Discord is fine.
There are different threads you can jump into, off topics, blog meet ups, general etc.
The ones that want to chew over politics can do that, but it all seems very civilised. Most of the footy is on the general thread. No articles but you can just post whatever you want and see if others respond to it.
Generally it will be about whatever is current NUFC news. Games, transfers, etc.
We may find it a bit cliquey at first as those posters who are just using discord have their feet well under the table, but I’m sure they will remember us and over time it will just be like as before on Ed’s blog.

Discord. Most Important thing. It is adjustable. For instance, when you 1st login the colours are terrible and words hard to read. Just go to settings and change to your liking. Otherwise ask for advice . It will be given quickly.

8th February, 2024

An update on my health situation - we have terminated the PluVicto treatment halfway through, because of the severity of the side effects - diarrhea, vomiting, and acid reflux.

And there was no evidence the treatment was having any positive effect in stopping the prostate cancer from spreading in the bones.

There are no treatments left for me to go on.

I will go into home hospice care now and will have a hospice nurse visit me at home regularly to ensure I am as comfortable as possible and we will treat the side effects of the treatments I have had.

It's down the final stretch now, and I have run out of treatments, and nature will now take its course.

I hope Newcastle can get many wins this season from now on, and I am at peace with all of this.
