Former Magpie Lands in Familiar Terrain

There was some exciting news yesterday that former, and long-term, Magpie Matt Ritchie has landed at a new club. It’s familiar terrain for Ritchie as he returns to where is all began with Portsmouth.

Here is the announcement of Ritchie’s return to Fratton Park.

The Gosport-born winger began his career with Pompey joining their academy at age 13 in 2002. He made 10 appearances before departing for Swindon Town in 2011, after a loan spell.

Ritchie’s rise then gained steam with long-term stays at Bournemouth and of course, Newcastle United. Ritchie was released this summer after 8 seasons at St. James’ Park. He now has a new challenge back at Portsmouth on a two-year deal.

Interestingly, Matt isn’t the only former-Magpie who’ll grace the Fratton Park this season. Former-youth striker Elias Sorensen returned to England earlier this summer and he’ll link up with his elder ex-teammate.

The 24-year-old Dane had a breakout campaign for Esbjerg FC in the Danish second-division with 26 goals and 15 assists. He started this season strong with a goal and 4 assists in just two matches before Portsmouth swooped in to land him late last week.

We wish both Matt and Elias the best as Portsmouth begin their return to the Championship against Leeds this Saturday.

***I’m not decided on the future of the blog at the moment. With the season kicking off soon, I will try to put out a few posts a week with a focus on matches and transfers***

Patience is still needed. Guehi could still arrive, but Palace are looking for a replacement.
Carltoon is still suffering from seeing a ‘nacked’ man. She’s even sold her camper van!
I also second her comments about the UK showing his/her true face yesterday.

    Keep the kind comments flowing.

And Lesh. I would love to read a football comment from you. Go on lad, you can do it!?

Nothing to base it on, but sure we will have Guehi by Saturday and right sided forward Thursday next week at latest. With new forward who can also play both wings be well covered. Also think Wilson Tripps unfortunately who I want to see as a coach and Miggy be away by end of window with at least 1 more to come in by December

Must say I’m both surprised and disappointed to see that you’ve jumped on the bandwagon as one who’s a selective reader!

I don’t post a lot but do know what I post and I’d suggest you look back and you’ll find a few football and NUFC-related posts.

One thing I’m certain of and that is that there some who’ve recently posted racist bile and they do not like being called out.

    Never mind… that’s life

I’m not into any discord admin getting moderation rights.

    Why should they…?

They fckd off on to a new platform even when this was still going and now we should give the admins off discord the moderation rights on here…? 😆

    You’re having a laugh

Bruno Guimarães reveals he’s been added to the team’s ‘leadership group’, following being made captain against Yokohama last week:

“I have always been a leader. But it’s a big challenge because English isn’t my first language.
“The leader isn’t just who wears the armband, but the person who fights for the club in many, many ways — for example I missed just one game last season.
“I’ve been captain at Athletico Paranaese, Brazil Youths and at Lyon. “The gaffer has given me a big responsibility and I want to deliver something for him & the fans.”

Never been so proud of Newcastle as last night. City uniting against Tommy Robinson thugs and bully boys was a beautiful sight to behold. As someone on twitter put ” No, — with 2 brain cells and 3 teeth, Dr Ahmed did not take your job!!

The main thing is, new articles and for now at least the blog goes on. HWTL

I would be happy with another 2 signings.
Guehi and Say Raphina would be class .
With those additions, we have one of the strongest starting 11’s in the Prem, not the strongest squad overall but we are building.

Eddie Howe with more on William Osula:

“I’ve known him since Jason Tindall’s time at Sheffield United. We’ve tracked him for 3 years. He excites us. He’s the raw ingredients to become a great centre forward. He’s a good physical profile, good technical skills. There’s areas of his game to develop but he’s in the right place to do that.”

They did one so no way should anyone from there get admin rights.

I hope it can be moderated but who knows if Neil has the time.

If this Chris who Bills mentioned can maybe have a joint venture here and he could maybe help police it. A fresh mind who knows no one on the blog would be best.

Think it’s safe to say that if there was any form of moderation reintroduced to here, that most people would come back.

Not hugley strict moderation, but obvious moderation and little warnings for the constant boring spats that drag on for days and lead to personal insults.

Discord only ever started as it was believed the blog was closing. Then some have stayed there as they really can’t be bothered with the constant school yard arguments between a handful of people every day. Which is understandable. That’s the only reason I cba to post anymore.

Every opportunity this blog could thrive again if it just has a small amount of moderation. But I tend to agree with Mund, that it shouldn’t be people on Discord. It should be up to whoever is running/owns the blog to decide who it should be or how it should work.

Hope you and the family are doing ok by the way Neil and good to see you writing up a nice article.

Eddie Howe asked about Kieran Trippier’s future:

“I don’t think Kieran’s openly looking to leave. He’s been very good in training this week — has come back with an ambition to play and fight for his place, like every player does in pre-season. I see a player who is fully committed.
“I see him as a huge part of the team & the squad going forward, but while we’re in this moment with FFP affecting the club, there is still the possibility that anyone could leave.
“I won’t talk about individual players but naturally with incomings there will be outgoings too.”

While I have no issues SO FAR with Discord mods, apart from Rainbow Ruddy don’t know if he is a mod or not i highly doubt it or there would be no one on discord especially if you disagree with him .
I would not want anyone from this blog to be an admin .
To many agendas , myself included on here to go down that road .
If the blog stays going, a fresh input is needed.
The old ways on here have it in the mess it’s in, and almost every poster has played their part in that even though some think there own shit don’t stink.
Fresh start Fresh new ideas .
