Newcastle Confirm The Capture Of Young Attacker

Newcastle have announced that capture of 21-year-old forward William Osula from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee. It has been reported in the press the Danish U21 international cost an initial £10m rising to £15m with add-ons.

Here is the confirmation of Newcastle’s new attacker.

This is what William said about joining the rising Magpies:

“I’m very happy to be here. It’s a big club, a great club, so I’m very happy for the opportunity to join Newcastle United.

“It’s a great opportunity, and as soon as I heard about Newcastle’s interest, I knew I had to take the chance to join this club if it came.

“It has come, and I’m really happy to be here.”

Here are some thoughts from our esteemed manager Eddie Howe:

“William is a talented young forward with all the attributes to be an exciting player for Newcastle United.

“We have watched his development closely and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with him in this next step in his career.

“I know our supporters will join me in giving William a very warm welcome to the club and the city.”

Osula joins as likely third-choice behind superstar Alexander Isak and reliable-when-fit Callum Wilson. While his arrival is primarily based on potential, the club will hope Eddie Howe can unleash Osula’s undoubted potential.

Osula is somewhat versatile being able to play on either flank while possessing capable strikes with both feet. Sheffield had used him on the left with promising moments in pre-season.

I wouldn’t expect to see much of Osula in the early parts of this season barring any disasters. He’ll be molded in training by Howe à la Lewis Hall last term. If all goes to plan, Newcastle may have a weapon in attack in the season’s second-half and beyond.

Exactly, also £5 odd from every kids shirt and £4 odd from adult goes to the foundation I think, was on wall in club shop, so at least there is a benefit even if gist so much

We had a super prospect already at the club but we had to sell him, Minteh, to keep finances in check.
The new lad may be a good prospect but it will count for nothing if we have to sell him on for the same reason in the future.
The club has it`s restraints , no doubt about it, it`s turned out well for the greedy 6 in a kinda indirect way

Hello Everyone, This is a decent signing for the future although it won’t be enough to say we’ve had a great window. Thoughts?

    Hi Chris, welcome.

I agree, not a great window atm but i doubt the club are finished just yet, i think the CB from Palace will eventually sign and i reckon a RW will be brought in, if that happens then for me , it will be a decent window.

    Chris

Guehi and a top RW will do the job me thinks.

Lots of work still to do with building up the squad and the depth of it but as for starting line ups go we should be well equipped to battle for top 4 this season

    Chris,
I think we’re Guehi and a top RW away from a very good window. Some outgoings would be nice as well like Miggy and Targett.

I think with what Eddie was saying this morning outgoings are expected.

I don’t think Wilson is going anywhere but the likes of Trips and Miggy is a possibility.

Apparently Trip’s had a move to Saudi collapse at the last minute and supposedly he was keen.

I’d like to see Wilson gone while we can still get a return on him, as every penny counts these days in the PL ,

Can’t see that one happening tbh

I imagine some clubs will be worried about his injury record.

Looks like Eddie is set with Isak, Wilson and Ousla

Think Wilson stays as Osula will allow for Isak and Wilson to have less pressure on them to be fit every game. Not that I think we’ll see much of Osual for a while though, until Eddie has had a decent amount of time to work with him in training.

Imagine Bunce coming in is going to help us keep Wilson available too, if that’s even possible….

Wilson will probably injure his wrist shaking Bunces hand for the first time.

    Welcome to the blog Chris
I think Osula will get game time in the cups this season but not much in the league.
He seems very raw and somewhat allergic to passing the ball so they will need to do plenty of work with him, but he is big and quick and direct so there is definitely potential there.
If they can get a decent price for Wilson I still think another striker might arrive later on in the window.

I’d like to think we’re putting all our energy into securing Guehi and, as much as I love the little guy for his effort and dedication, finding a replacement for our smiling, one legged Paraguayan.

Thank you all for the kind words, and yes Hibbit, we have a great thing going on NUFCtalkTV with Bill, The Mighty Wyn, and many other contributors, our main goal is to grow the fan base worldwide so we got people from all over the world supporting the toon!

I do agree with Raj of Hailsley, if we land Guehi and a propa right winger that means to me that we’ve had a really good window.

Glad to see the blog is behaving now our newest poster Chris is on board!
Tripps needs to be sold but do we have enough cover at RB?
Perhaps depends on what Eddie makes of Ashby in pre season.
We won’t get a right sided forward unless Miggy is sold.
I’m just not convinced he would be happy leaving.
But Guehi needs to be signed up first and without further delay.

I think Krafth is very capable and underrated by some fans.

Not saying he is top class but he is another player who has come on a ton under Eddie.

He is also deceptively quick and puts a great cross in. Apart from Ashby we’ve also got Murphy who can step in at RB especially if we sign a RW – so I think RB isn’t a priority with what we have to spend.

    Bills
    Agree on Krafth.
But if Tripps goes I think we’ll need Ashby in the squad or an equivalent if he’s deemed not good enough.
Perhaps Eddie thinks he can polish Ashby up into a PL player. His loan at Swansea was underwhelming but he was injured a lot.

    On new signings…

I don’t the club or Eddie are in panic mode that a RW and CB still aren’t onboard as I think with all the main players now back from injury we’ve got our full CL qualifying squad back + Barnes, Tonali, Hall and Tino all bedded in with Kelly also in the mix. That’s still a cracking squad to start the season.

The nearer it gets to the deadline selling clubs – especially if they need the dosh and/or if a player wants to leave – the more likely they are to take an offer.

My feeling is we’ll get Guehi for c£55M + add ons and Raphina for c£40M + adds ons. That’s a saving of £20M-£25M on current fees being bandied about.

That saving will help to pay Raphina’s wages which I would image would be c£200K a week.

I think that is part of our strategy –

Bill i agree i also think we have adequate cover for the right side of defence in Kraft Murphy and Harrison Ashby, i would actually like to see Ashby being retained as i think he has very good potential!! Bill when you said Murphy were you referring to Jacob Murphy or Alex Murphy mate?

    Magicmac,

Good afternoon, had a great time over there mate, we are going back next year.
Never had the chance to do the Mount Teide tour but it`s on my bucket list.
I would recommend Tenerife, it`s like 3 different worlds rolled onto one island, with plenty of things to see.
Have you been to Tenerife mate ?
