Newcastle have announced that capture of 21-year-old forward William Osula from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee. It has been reported in the press the Danish U21 international cost an initial £10m rising to £15m with add-ons.
Here is the confirmation of Newcastle’s new attacker.

Welcome to Newcastle United, Will! ??? pic.twitter.com/0CCgVjduBX
— Newcastle United FC (@NUFC) August 8, 2024
This is what William said about joining the rising Magpies:
“I’m very happy to be here. It’s a big club, a great club, so I’m very happy for the opportunity to join Newcastle United.
“It’s a great opportunity, and as soon as I heard about Newcastle’s interest, I knew I had to take the chance to join this club if it came.
“It has come, and I’m really happy to be here.”
Here are some thoughts from our esteemed manager Eddie Howe:
“William is a talented young forward with all the attributes to be an exciting player for Newcastle United.
“We have watched his development closely and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with him in this next step in his career.
“I know our supporters will join me in giving William a very warm welcome to the club and the city.”
Osula joins as likely third-choice behind superstar Alexander Isak and reliable-when-fit Callum Wilson. While his arrival is primarily based on potential, the club will hope Eddie Howe can unleash Osula’s undoubted potential.
Osula is somewhat versatile being able to play on either flank while possessing capable strikes with both feet. Sheffield had used him on the left with promising moments in pre-season.
I wouldn’t expect to see much of Osula in the early parts of this season barring any disasters. He’ll be molded in training by Howe à la Lewis Hall last term. If all goes to plan, Newcastle may have a weapon in attack in the season’s second-half and beyond.

If we can be civil to one another in the end then anything is possible 😉
As long as we completely and utterly ignore the troll and keep the insults out then we will be all good. Infighting will always happen and it’s ok to happen but it’s when it crosses that like which is 99% of the time.

Comment #123Mund…..Aye ,he sure does have a long way, and I think if he doesn’t get the loan now, he won’t make it here .
The boy has talent in abundance he needs to bulk up a bit but more than anything he needs to be playing.

Proves it can be done.
Important that posters draw a line on what’s gone before and take each post on its own merit, as opposed to reacting based on inbuilt prejudices.
It’s up to each of us to do it.

That’s what I’ve thought pal when watching him that he needs to bulk up more if he is to be a PL defender. Got lots of talent however I think we are at that point of were we see if he can cut it long term here. With Eddie anything is possible so he is in very good hands. Fingers crossed

Yes, Red Star is his Paris club.

Comment #137Bills – dont think Rafinha will be on Eddie’s wishlist. We are all about finding the next Raphinha and developing him. Its a non starter that.
The Guehi link still puzzles me a touch.. not like us, but does fit age range and clearly pretty decent. 45million about right.
Reminds me a bit of Boumsong… 🙂

Classy letter from Matt Ritchie there, but not unexpected as that lad never failed to wear his heart on his sleeve and give 100% for the cause.

Comment #142I wouldn’t go any higher than 60 for Guehi .
He is a brilliant CB.
The only aspect he really lacks is that he isn’t great in the air.
I read some where he started out as a right winger in the Chelsea Youth side with his pace you can see why .
I wouldn’t cry either if it fell through and we got Thiaw .
He is not at the Guehi level yet but has all the attributes to make it .
The only worry on him is his last season wasn’t great, and the AC milan supporters wouldn’t be overly upset if they lost him, which is never a good sign

Comment #143I went from thinking Guehi was probably not happening up until this morning to it might actually be happening now. The way Eddie answered that question today about Guehi is the exact same way he answers questions about other players we’ve signed in the past. When they weren’t in for players he’s came out and said so too.
But honestly the longer this window goes on the longer I’m starting to think we’re not looking for a right winger.
I’m wondering are they looking at it like we have had no issues scoring goals so why waste money there, compared to we’ve leaked goals like a sieve so we need to focus on that.
I’d be gutted if we don’t sign a quality RW but they know better than me I guess. And still plenty of time. But it is starting to feel like we’re just not concerned about RW this window.

Comment #147I think £60m – £65m would be needed to get Guehi over the line. This signing could transform NUFC the way Van Dyke did for Liverpool. I think NUFC have him in the bag already and it’s just a matter of time when it happens.
Then onto a RW who can transform our right side like Gordon did to the left. Then it will be a hugely successful transfer window. Happy days ahead all.

Comment #159Will try and tune in, sounds like Bills is the good guy on this one. So will be applauded whatever, no doubt the lad is about to slate Miggy and Sean, which is out of order as botg have done good things for the club.
Sean was solid two years back, probably played thru injury most of last year. Miggy is a great fella. Any overboard criticism of Miggy just seems like bullying, he is a fantastic human being. Sean such a nice kid an all.
