Newcastle Confirm The Capture Of Young Attacker

Newcastle have announced that capture of 21-year-old forward William Osula from Sheffield United for an undisclosed fee. It has been reported in the press the Danish U21 international cost an initial £10m rising to £15m with add-ons.

Here is the confirmation of Newcastle’s new attacker.

This is what William said about joining the rising Magpies:

“I’m very happy to be here. It’s a big club, a great club, so I’m very happy for the opportunity to join Newcastle United.

“It’s a great opportunity, and as soon as I heard about Newcastle’s interest, I knew I had to take the chance to join this club if it came.

“It has come, and I’m really happy to be here.”

Here are some thoughts from our esteemed manager Eddie Howe:

“William is a talented young forward with all the attributes to be an exciting player for Newcastle United.

“We have watched his development closely and we are delighted to have the opportunity to work with him in this next step in his career.

“I know our supporters will join me in giving William a very warm welcome to the club and the city.”

Osula joins as likely third-choice behind superstar Alexander Isak and reliable-when-fit Callum Wilson. While his arrival is primarily based on potential, the club will hope Eddie Howe can unleash Osula’s undoubted potential.

Osula is somewhat versatile being able to play on either flank while possessing capable strikes with both feet. Sheffield had used him on the left with promising moments in pre-season.

I wouldn’t expect to see much of Osula in the early parts of this season barring any disasters. He’ll be molded in training by Howe à la Lewis Hall last term. If all goes to plan, Newcastle may have a weapon in attack in the season’s second-half and beyond.

I think too much time has been spent on Guehi and we still haven’t signed him. And we won’t sign anyone else until a RCB is signed as we need to know how much if anything is in the kitty. I think the squad as if stands is better, just because of Tonalis return and fewer injuries, but most fans would be expecting at least one stellar signing.

The problem with Almiron is he isn’t really a right winger it’s probably the worst place to play him as he’s so predictable

When you see him drift to the no 10 or left wing position the runs he makes and decisions on the ball seem so much more natural which is where he plays for the national team

But he’s probably still not top 6 quality in those positions either !!

There doesn’t need to be winners in a sensible mature discussion.

    Or losers for that matter.

Tonali will be like a new signing, and a full season of Barnes, Willock, and Pope,
Hopefully at least 2 before the transfer window closes, it will be an exciting season, oh, and a fully fit Wilson, come on we’ll be awesome. 😀

New goal celebration rule for this season

Teams will be allowed 30 seconds after a goal is scored to get back into position; any time over this will be added to the additional time by officials

As the revenues build, so will the strength of our side. Other clubs will all know this too, and so you get situations like Parish fishing for big money. We probably have it, but I doubt we’ll bite. We’ll remain prudent I’m sure. Table a final offer, that is within our valuation of the player, and if it isn’t met, move on. We’ll have a pretty clear idea of what the player is worth to us, and what Palace will take. I think the deal is still likely very much alive.

I feel a bit vindicated seeing Darlow as back up in a Championship side. I remember posting something along the lines of ‘we all know Darlow is Championship standard’ I was fair rounded on by a few posters, probably just because it was me that said it, was told I was completely wrong and that he was a lower PL keeper. Since leaving us he has appeared for Hull and now Leeds back up keeper. Funny old game.

Pundits seem to have us finishing around 6th and 7th generally speaking. Not sure why. Without the demands of Europe it has to be higher. I think two more of quality in, then top four. Fourth, most likely.

Darlow was always bang average. Truly blessed to have played for a club like us.

Similar to Krafth to some degree, good lads but wouldn’t stand out for Sheff Wed. The greek keeper and Kyrios the same, lucky to be involved in this great club, pretending that they were good enuf.

At least Gillespie knows he is employed to just get the ball blasted at him in training.

Shut boring window mind. Just seems like we have stalled a bit. Cant afford to do that or else our top top boys will wonder whats going on. We aint winning stuff with what we have starting the season. Two top signing where all we needed and they have currently fcked it up.

Like those in power at the club will be happy with transfer window progress.

Mind you Ashworth has gone to Man Utd and signed shite and gave goofy Bruno a four year contract. Bit weird

Without Europe, and with Bunce, and also with the addition of Osula, we can hope to get more from our attack.

We can certainly expect to get more availability from our players in general.

I’m expecting more availability from both Isak and Wilson, and of course Barnes. That’s gotta make a pretty big difference. Three very good players.

No wonder Eddie was at Loggerheads with Ashworth if he wanted to sign the shite Man Utd have.

Which is unlikely as they all used to play for Ajax… Sort of says that Ashworth has zero input on transfers at Man Scum. He’s just getting paid more and having his ego massaged as he’s on the photees. Little creep

I still think we are good for fourth as reckon we will be incredibly intense at home. Give many a team a whooping.

However cannot forget those poor games last year when teams ravished us on the counter. We are still ready to get picked apart with our two centre backs.

Lee but Eddie wud rather play a goalie on the left wing than Miggy. A criticism I’ve had of his management for a while. It doesn’t have to be weekly, but it’s a useful option which is basically never used.

Check it won’t be as bad as that. Pope will move the defence out and it will close that midfield chasm, but a pacy centre half is deffo needed. Despite what some people like to say on here, Botman is not a fast centre back, as I said a long time ago.

Also Tonali will help defensively, but Bruno will remain incredibly slow and a fast centre back will help us so much tactically. I think kelly will get more game time than people think. He’s seriously quick.

Botman aint slow, and he drops at the right time, however he aint available till November so Burn is.

Bruno is quick going forward not so when tracking back, but thats due to him covering so much of the pitch.

Not many players around like wor Bruno. Shud stop looking at his weaknesse, he is a brilliant footballer for the club. We are blessed to have him. Would go into any team.

The Rugby Football Union has not “sold out” by renaming Twickenham the Allianz Stadium in a sponsorship deal worth more than £100m, says the organisation’s chief executive Bill Sweeney.

    Well then
If that’s the going rate for a stadium that is only used a few times a year then what price SJP ?

If that’s the going rate then the EPL haven’t a leg to stand on if we become saudiairlines@SJP Stadium for shall we say £150m ?

What’s the rate for Arsenal and the like ?

Surely easier just to stop the clock after a goal and restart when the ref says ‘ clock on again’

No danger then of conspiracies and Fergie time scenarios.

Yeah, Pope will help us play that higher line. It’s important that we do. Far too open, for far too much of the campaign. If we press early, then we do have to go as a team, and remain compact. We do need pace at the back to do this well though, and I agree, players like Kelly, Livra and Hall will figure a lot, and I’m sure we are in for Guehi because of his pace.
