Newcastle Draw Nottingham Forest Away In Round Two Of The Carabao Cup

Newcastle United have drawn Nottingham Forest in the second round of the Carabao Cup. It will be a quick reunion for local boy Elliot Anderson, who joined Forest earlier this summer. The match will take place the final week of this month.

This is a difficult matchup against a now-established Premier League side. Forest have two former Magpies in tow with Chris Wood also on board. The former striker bagged a hat trick at St. James’ Park last season. Anderson has been extremely impressive this preseason and may have done enough to force his way into Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting eleven.

The Magpies have done very well in this competition under Eddie Howe, reaching the final in a losing effort against Manchester United two seasons ago. Last season, it was a heartbreak exit on penalties in the quarterfinals against Chelsea.

With no European competition this time around, the cups are a likely focal point for Howe and crew. Silverware would be a tremendous accomplishment and soften the blow of no European nights.

Guehi was worth 40 million tops before the euro’s, couple of accomplished games against shite opposition and now its 70million. Not having it me.

Dont give a shite about the dosh if we have it but if its tight and we need more to shop elsewhere its a terrible deal for us. Looks nervy on the ball to me.

We should be finding the next Guehi or Saliba as someone said, rather than this nonsense

No doubt’s he improves the squad, but does he really really improve it.

No other brilliant quick CB’s about for 70million. Just sign Jon Stones for 30

I don`t like the idea of the club spending up to 70M on CB but the club seem determined to get their man, the club have been spot on so far and i`m not going to starting knocking them on this one. It`s their money, they don`t tend to waste it,

WLToon – club see at as basically a risk free signing, he will slot into the group perfectly, great professional and really humble and clearly can hold his own in the prem and possibly get better.

It’s probably just the uncertainty of the past three weeks thats done me head in.

If you ever wanted proof that the BBC staff in Salford are incompetent then take a look at the Premiership League table produced for the start of the season.

It lists the clubs in A-Z format.
    Top of the table Bournemouth.

Education, education, education as someone once said

If he does improve a touch, get more aggressive and cover space like he does, could be Englands CB for next few tournaments. Maybe even captain who lifts something.

If we ever get a decent manager. Fcuckin Lee Carsley

We were prepared to pay £80million for Guehi but Parrish wants £70m.

    ctt, @365

That`s true about Guehi, already proven in the PL and there is no risk with him.
Manure paid more for Maguire, Pool paid more for Van Dyke all those years ago.
I think it`s the time its taking to get the deal done that is doing most fans heads in, not the quality of the player.
Having said that, i still 70M is a tad oot for him but the club know a cracking player when they see one, their record has proved it.

We’re sounding a bit like a gambler who doubles then quadruples his bet and can’t walk away, too late, so goes all in.

Walk away. This guy’s way too expensive already, had a few decent games ok, but it’s potential you’re buying.

The Liverpool CB was already the best in the PL with Southampton when they splashed the cash. This guy, hell I hadn’t noticed him. I’d noticed the other two Palace players but not him.

Walk away. You can. It’s ok.

Buy two players with that kind of money. Quality ones.*

    * I added this last one in case you’re thinking “quality not quantity”. 🙂

So I’ve become an obnoxious w—-r, whereas in reality you have always been one but as someone truly lacking any self awareness you have never acknowledged the fact. Stones in glass houses there old chap. At least I’m not a thug who goes round threatening to beat people up with your slow brain, fast fists mentality and change alts while accusing others of destroying the blog. Now that really does define being an obnoxious w—r.

Only thing you did get right is that jail is the wokiest wet fart and happy clapper going. The most selective listening, s–t stirring, divisive, 2 faced twonk I’ve ever come across. At least we can agree on that.

Inadequate, flakey, insecure oddball creeps like Mund are as he says in his words ”it is what is ls” . ….and this guy allegedly works in education!!! Scary, YCMIU.

I’ll say this once, although it obviously needs saying more than once to get through to some people who lack the ability to debate and consider. I like EH, I think he is an amazing coach who has dramatically improved players and has done fantastically well since taking over from Bruce. There were times last season when BDB was getting slaughtered at LB match after match before Botman got injured and KT was never dropped despite his dramatic decline in form that I thought in those instances EH needed to be more ruthless. Well excuse the hell out of me for making an observation on a fan’s forum.

Rotonda – agree with you regards Tripps and Burn like. Eddie see’s dependability of character just as impressive as their ability at times. Doesnt really win football matches that based on an individual. The group is mint so changing one of his faves out is actually a good thing.

Anyway, great bunch of players, and shud have a smashin season, can never fault the lads effort. Hope Sean gets off to a good start.

Now gentlefolk, haven’t posted in years. Nice to see we’re all still getting along ever so nicely.

Excited for the season, £70m seems excessive, wor Sven was half that. Improves the 11 no doubt, but he ain’t the only one out there who would!

Can’t help but think the rejection must be payment structure related, rather than overall sum.

Looks like we’ve tabled our last bid for Guehi. I don’t know what he’s worth to us, but I do know that I’d rather lose out on a player than risk being seen as a soft touch in the transfer market. Palace might come round. There’s still two weeks left in the window. I assume we are now looking more intently at other targets. Certainly would appear to be a good offer though, and that the player wants to come. Brinkmanship, but I’m sure we are ñow prepared to move on.

Yeah, top four to me would be the clear target this term. I imagine though we do need that rcb, and also probably rw to realistically hope to achieve that. It’s not that we don’t already have an excellent group, we do, but so do seven or eight others.
