Newcastle Draw Nottingham Forest Away In Round Two Of The Carabao Cup

Newcastle United have drawn Nottingham Forest in the second round of the Carabao Cup. It will be a quick reunion for local boy Elliot Anderson, who joined Forest earlier this summer. The match will take place the final week of this month.

This is a difficult matchup against a now-established Premier League side. Forest have two former Magpies in tow with Chris Wood also on board. The former striker bagged a hat trick at St. James’ Park last season. Anderson has been extremely impressive this preseason and may have done enough to force his way into Nuno Espirito Santo’s starting eleven.

The Magpies have done very well in this competition under Eddie Howe, reaching the final in a losing effort against Manchester United two seasons ago. Last season, it was a heartbreak exit on penalties in the quarterfinals against Chelsea.

With no European competition this time around, the cups are a likely focal point for Howe and crew. Silverware would be a tremendous accomplishment and soften the blow of no European nights.

Wouldn’t be surprised if once Guehi is done, we have a right winger signed up not long after. Maybe even a verbal agreement in place with someone, just waiting for the Guehi deal to be done first.

(Based on absolutely nothing other than just a feeling)

    🙂

I wonder how Tripps is mentally? He contributed so much creatively last season. We still need him

Another one with too much time on his hands.

In your obsession with me and the troll, did your razor-like intelligence not tempt you to translate the Italian comment I’d made the the Italian? Try it or better still, try doing something useful!

Brighton will be a serious team to watch next year. How come they get deals done so easily. I guess cash rich? Kagioglu joining them now, super player

Munster – Brighton have done exceptional work in this window, there’s no denying it.

Gruda for £25 mil is a magnificent signing. If it clicks with the new manager can see them pushing the top 5/6…

Definitely Peckham. People say not to worry about others clubs work but that’s highly naive. They will rip some teams to shreds next season

    Why worry about other clubs…?

Is it a revelation that clubs each year or each window strengthen…?

Doesn’t every single team do this…?

Flapping about other teams and their signings is a strange way to go about it

Why are you dissing Pochetinno? He may not have won that many trophies but hs teams always played good football and he regularly got to Europe and even a CL final. Yes just the 3 trophies at PSG but there’s a lot worse out there than Poch.

Brighton have a relatively young team for this coming season mate, so it`s really difficult to evaluate or extimate their true potential, with being so young i think they will possibly be very inconsistent, but i expect them to be exciting to watch, and more then capable of giving anyone a game.

These long drawn out, exhaustive player sales seem to me to be non beneficial to the buying club at the end of the day. My boss used to say to me if it’s a good deal get it done quickly, if it’s not, forget it and look for the next one.

Third bid rejected by Palace Sky Sports are saying.

    £55m + £5m add ons.

I like Guehi, but anything more than that seems like overpaying to me.

If we do truly want him, just pay up now or walk away.

We need this deal done or put to bed now so we can move ahead with other deals.

They said the same yesterday as well

However reports are we are still at the table.

Fee agreed but add ons and such are the sticking point right now.

In fact some of the ITK’s have been ahead of SSN on this one.

Weird all this interviews tho with Parish and then Guehi. Really strange

You ask why Mund’s dissing Pochetinno?

Look back to yesterday when both Mund barely commented and his hero was awol – probably monitoring his riotous chums’ trials.

Now look who’s hero’s rocked up today – obviously he’s no high-powered meetings – and you’ll you’ll understand why Munds feeling up to arguing!
