The Predicted Eleven For Newcastle’s Opener Against Southampton

This is my starting eleven prediction for Saturday’s match against Southampton at St. James’ Park. As you can see, I expect there to be no real surprises with Eddie Howe’s team tomorrow.

Newcastle haven’t been very active in the market this summer despite bringing in four new first-team faces (Lloyd Kelly, John Ruddy, Odysseas Vlachodimos, William Osula). The only newcomer with a shout at a start would be Lloyd Kelly. Though I expect Big Dan Burn to get the nod and potentially the captain’s armband.

Other areas of potential contention are at right-back and left-wing. Tino Livramento has gotten the bulk of the minutes in preseason though Kieran Trippier arrived late after appearing in the Euros. I wouldn’t be gobsmacked if Howe went with Trippier for his experience though Tino may have done enough to get the start.

As with Trippier, Anthony Gordon arrived on Tyneside late after the European Championships. After a stellar 2023/24 campaign, the 23-year-old is one of the handful of superstars in the squad. If Howe feels his fitness levels are where they need to be, Gordon gets the nod over Harvey Barnes.

It’s very early with no marquee additions and a few Magpies still recovering from injury. The selection drama may be low key for now with hopes of some future headaches for Howe on the horizon.

    Hearting yourself you sad fckr

40M for Guehi 😆 the extent of your knowledge.

Why do you pretend to know so much but come across like a clueless desperate attention seeking saddo…?

You have to be told what to think…

    You don’t have any originality…

And you try to convince the NUFC fan base that Casey has contacts and is all knowing…

    What a life lad

Enjoy the match that’s if you watch it

You still didn’t tell us why you turned your back on your local club.

Theory out there aleady is the undisclosed fee scenario.

Both clubs want to look good and save face. Newcastle dont want to overspend. Palace want to look like hard negotiators. If its being played out in public and fees being let out in public then maybe next bid gets accepted as undisclosed and people will think we have spent 70m. But in reality maybe we are only buying him for 60m or less.

Would be the theory that makes sense if transfer happens.

Carlos Alcaraz was a very decent player last time Saints were in the EPL. He was on loan at Juve in the second half of last season, making 10 league appearances.
Still only 21, will be an interesting one to watch this afternoon.

It’s match day boys and girls. Time to be happy not radgie.
I’m off to the match but I have a strange feeling about this one. I hope our fans aren’t complacent expecting us to hammer them. Remember Forest at home last season. I just hope Eddie has them ready. First game you never know. There are question marks hanging over our transfer business this summer. I’m sure deals will be done in the next few weeks but there won’t be the same buz of excitement today that you get with new signings. Sorry for being glass half empty but I will never change. Perhaps only once we’ve won something.
    Lovely sunny day on Tyneside.

Your little foot-soldier’s been sooo loyal to you in your absence yesterday. He’s defended you against your critics and the least you can do is to give him a big big thank you.

But, you’re off to the match and there’s no suggestion that you’re taking your little minder with you – despite his unstinting loyalty to you. Shame on you for taking him and it for granted.
