Kelly, Krafth, and Murphy Start At Bournemouth

Here is the team Eddie Howe will field for today’s match at Bournemouth. It has two changes from the 1-0 victory over Southampton last weekend with Emil Krafth and Lloyd Kelly in for Fabian Schar and Lewis Hall.

It’s a full debut for Kelly which creates some intrigue about the backline. Will Krafth play at right-back and Tino Livramento on the left? Or is Kelly a straight swap for Hall?

The bench is a strong one with plenty of options for Howe. There is a bit of a surprise that John Ruddy gets the call ahead of Martin Dubravka and Odysseas Vlachodimos.

This is the eleven Andoni Iraola has named for the hosts.

A win and Newcastle will join a trio of clubs to start the campaign with all six points. That would provide some confidence ahead of a momentous week with the Carabao Cup match at Nottingham Forest and Spurs on the horizon.

Howay The Lads!

We’ve been quite bad the past 10 mins.

I told ye last week wasn’t a one off. I think we’re in trouble without a few players. The high press is well and truly gone. Our passing shocking.

Not going to worry yet. Figured the team would need 2 goals to win.

Harvey Barnes will light them up once he gets on.

At this level you can not, we can not afford to give away goals like that.

If we aim for top 3 we can not afford to loose games against the likes of Bournemouth.

If Gordon had been out on the left wing Joe would have moved the ball up to his, problem avoided.

Disappointing. We’re at half speed, and there is no reason why the players out there should not be giving more energy when you look at our bench and who can come on.

Competitive friendly game but when the PL starts we’ll need way more commitment and running than this.

Oh, this IS a PL game? Where’s our famous intensity and passion?

It feels like we’re in a bit of a trance.

Anyway, plenty of time but we sure have to snap out of it and realise we have us a game on our hands.

But, really, this team needs refreshing, new hungry players challenging the “establishment”.

Jesus the match day threads are a thing to behold. The negativity is almost pathological.

Not a good first half. Big Joe right off it but he won us the game last week… funny old game. Gordon doesn’t look himself either. Let’s hope that’s a hangover and not because his head’s gone.

Gonna be a real battle to get something here but we should be good for at least a point. Maybe a 1-2 reversal with Barnes scoring off the bench

Joelinton is playing like a donkey!

The whole team seem to be seconds behind in their thinking, we need to get the cobwebs out second half.

Bmouth def is pretty good though to be fair.

    still well winnable though!

    We cannot pass wind!!!!!
Joe Linton poor caught in possession
but why time after time do we pass the ball to marked players in dangerous areas
Started well but a continuation of last season. Slow ponderous build up to many passes to many touches on the ball – more often than not looking to pass back as to go forward.
Yea early season but been second best a game and a half
Top four no no no chance unless we rapidly improve
